  1. snots on the money, old school shocks built into the struts, not inserts
  2. primer is porous, can't get it wet or leave it in the open for extended periods, if your gonna paint it, do it all at once...
  3. hahahaha you should see the reno I'm doing!
  4. bens body works in behind the midas on the corner of compton road and kingston road, just over in slacks creek. he does some good work, and is a mate of mine, tell him andy with the corolla sent ya, and see what he can do for you. http://www.localbusinessguide.com.au/business/bens-bodyworks/ what sort of price are you expecting to pay? i got no idea what he will charge you, he quoted on my car 2 years ago and I'm still workin on it, very slowly lol
  5. ive got a car trailer and will tow peoples vehicles out there, if there are a few that want to get there bashers out there, i could dedicate a day a week or two before hand and do a few runs back and forth for the cost of the fuel, which spread amongst a few trips wouldnt be too bad. towing trailer with small car at todays prices looking at probably around $25/100km, give or take considering how it tows on the day and usually is quite good economy wise on the highway. might make it out for a look, dunno if ill be in anything though, don't have a running basher anymore and work commitments make it hard. love the idea though :)
  6. 2012 regs are already out and accessible on the cams website, and i thought you still could run cro-mo, but i don't know why you would. cages can only be logbooked with the whole car from my understanding, and still gets scrutineered at events log book or not. cheers, andy
  7. its all a pipedream, never gonna happen :P
  8. my god they must have been desperate. that sucks mate, all the best in getting it back
  9. isnt 32/36 and economy an oxymoron?
  10. cro mo is not recognised by FIA, but cams still allow it, and ANDRA love it. trouble with cro mo is you need to heat treat it after you weld it, which is hard when its in a car. weight saving really isnt "that" great anyway... or thats my understanding anyway. YMMV. cheers, andy
  11. seamless steel is what you want. as mr dwarf says, its quite heavy that stuff, i think i budgeted 21 lineal for my cage but may not use quite that much. in terms of chassis strength, theyre a flimsy old car, i sprung the join on the chassis rail on my old one with the 1g and some sticky tyres going around corners, which is what I'm trying to avoid with the cage in this car. and a squashed head when i put it on its lid :D
  12. 920 kerb weight for a standard ke70. mines a TE72 and weighed a bit more than that
  13. mine with the 1g full fuel and spare tyre, steel rims, no coolant or oil but diff and box with oil weighed 989, by the time we have piping etc would be around 1010 i reckon, then gotta add cage. and i wanna keep it sub 1000kg, ill be getting the hole saw out if i have to, you are right carlos, power to weight FTW :)
  14. i should be able to re-weigh my car when the cage goes in, we're halfway there. just gotta organise seats and steering and pedal box before we can finish the front half, so give me 6 months :P and ill have it back on the scales to see just how much i put into it. gonna be a bit of a jungle gym so should be a good idea of the most a cage will weigh in a street car. basic run down, 6 point, double cross in main hoop with bar behind for harnesses, back stays tied together at base and back to the main hoop, triangulated roof and possible double bracing back stays, depending on how it all looks when we get to finishing touches, front legs tied to strut towers and strut towers tied together. everything gusseted and where possible corners braced with more tube. I'm imagining 50kg minimum. small price to pay after twisting the last chassis...
  15. WGMG: telling the project manager for the job I'm contracting to be happy he has this job to be running, cause if not his business is so slow he would just be blowing all his money on hookers and coccaine, only to get a blank confused look then a smug, i don't think so mate. like ffs, take a joke you fat penguin suit wearing bastard, just cause I'm probably making more than you :P oh and the drive home today, 50km, 2 hrs 10 mins, channel 40 on the radio kept me entertained, poor truckies get wound up so easily by dickheads when theyre stuck in traffic, but i really would have rathered it take me the usual 35-40 minutes. traffic from the centenary motorway onto the logan and all the way to the end of the logan motorway, cause it rained, hailed, and there was a big stack on the other side of the motorway. doesnt make sense mateee
  16. i love the soggy hjs bacon deluxe. thats the shit
  17. Only in Victoria do people still ask questions about their heaters in October :P
  18. details on car, weight, power, grip levels, driving styles and intentions are going to help people suggest the diff you need...
  19. yes they should a quarter pounder is boxed as 4:1 patties and cheese burger patties (big mac patties) are boxed as 10:1 so thats less meat than a normal quarter pounder. double quarter pounder with mac sauce ftw dave, ask to speak to manager and say how unimpressed you are, hes obviously paying higher premium for being young, so he should be covered...
  20. doesnt the how to build a tough 4K thread say theyre fairly safe to around 8K then they start getting all harmonic and cracking shit? as has been said, speedway guys rev the mcf@$k out of 3ks
  21. lol fine nose smart arse :P photobucket ftw.
  22. yep long 8 mm, or if you can grab it with a pair of fine noise pliers you might get it off, but really, long 8mm socket is the go. i think they made the thread so long so you can actually have half a chance of getting the nuts back on haah
  23. altezza, i know that feeling, i set all mine on my TD42 in my patrol tight, and the fuel economy difference and low down power was about 200km per tank difference. was like OMG! haha each rocker is about 50 bucks so I'm not replacing them, just gonna set them tight from now on :P
  24. cause engineers sign off on cars under the mod plate rules, but if it doesnt meet the set out criteria its supposed to its still not legal, unless you build an ICV or they go signatory engineer and submit a full application to build.
