  1. Thanks for the advice everyone, I'll give her a call and see what the go is. And Evan I'd say it could be repaired but would it be worth it? It's pushed forward at the rear left door jam and inside the boot is all creased up and everything, and the rear left quarter has a crease through it. The quote to get it fixed was double what she's offering me for it. I dunno, this was the crispiest little car, I'm so annoyed that the amount I value it and it's actual value are so different, I don't think I ever would have gotten rid of it if I didn't have to
  2. Hi everyone, I've got a bit of a problem at the moment, my car was crashed into on saturday morning in the main street on the way to work. I was not at fault, the car behind me ran into my car while I was stopped as the car in front of me was waiting to turn into a petrol station across the road. As a result my car is pretty much a write off, as the repairs for the car way exceed it's value. But here is the problem, The person who crashed into me does not have third party property insurance and my car is not comprehensively insured, although she has agreed to pay for repairs and/or pay for the car, but as repairing it isn't really viable she just wishes to pay me ~$1500 to $1600 for the car, but I will get to keep it in the end. So here's where I need a little help as I've never had to deal with something like this before, would you consider this offer fair, as I initially paid $1700 for this KE70 when I first bought it, it had 121000 kilometers on it and had only one owner it's whole life. There is very very little rust in it, it's been out west of Lismore (about an hour from the coast) since new and was also rust proofed when it was new. It currently has rego until september, I just put new tyres on it and it has the usual AE86 coilovers and lowered in the rear, T18 bumpers and things like that which wouldn't matter providing I could find a new one to swap the parts over to. The other problem is I now have no car to get to work in and won't until I find a new one. So would you consider this a fair deal, to get ~$1600 for the car, as I've seen similar ones sell for more than that, and try and find another one, although I guess I do get to keep it, but it really isn't worth anything how it is now. I've included some pics to help people get an idea of the cars condition, It's a 1982 CS model 5 speed. It's probably a silly question but I just can't see myself finding another KE70 in the same condition and getting it rego'd, insured, on the road blah blah for what she is offering me for the damage done to my car. Thanks to anyone who has any input.
  3. I've seen KE30 rear bumpers fitted to the rear of a KE70s, not sure if you need to use a custom bracket or not. I don't think a KE30 front bumper would fit on the front of a KE70 though, the shape is probably too different, but I've never tried it so I may be wrong.
  4. I've seen a pod filter fitted onto a standard 4k carb, just by removing the original black filter box thingy and drilling a hole in the top of the plastic part of the pod filter and then placing it on top of the carb so that bolt thing with the wing nut on it goes through the hole in the pod filter and then you just screw the wing nut back on, it maybe have been clamped around the bottom of the pod though I can't remember. But like Dave said it's probably not worth the effort.
  5. I think a manual would be much more fun
  6. Thanks blz, that helps alot. I though I was missing something, now there is more parts to add to the list for when I go to the wreckers
  7. Do I only need the cable to set up the fuel door release or is there more to it? Because I have the cable but I just can't see how it would work :hmm: Maybe someone could post a picture if it isn't too much trouble

    1jz Ke55

This is some next level bizz!
  9. This is really cool, it must be pretty quick with the 7k yeah?
  10. I'd probably go for an ae86 strut upgrade or similar
  11. Those meshies are so cool, well done

  13. I've got a KE70, and the only bad thing that's been said about it is my dad complaining I spend too much money on it and that all my parts are filling up the shed. Oh and my girlfriend calls me a bogan sometimes
  14. It might be worth while to check you're getting a crispy spark, and check the ballast resistor and it's connections, that thing has stuffed up a few times on my car and on another KE that I know of and resulted in a problem like the one you're describing. It's probably not the problem but it's pretty easy to check out anyway. Goodluck with it, I hope you get it sorted because KE20s rule!

    Josh's Ke70

This thing rules! And you rule for making it rule, so much ruling going on in this thread!
  16. buy heaps of zipties, they're so handy! and a caramello koala on your way out, I love those <3
  17. What happened to the old KE? And the bumperless look, I dig it. Although I'm fairly sure it's illegal
  18. Okay so I took the struts apart today, LittleRedSpirit you were right about the spacer, there was just an old bent up washer under the insert that wasn't thick enough and the gland nut ran out of thread before it tightened up on the insert. Although the insert has a slightly smaller diameter than the inside of the gland nut it still seems to sit nice and tight in the strut once a bigger washer/spacer was used, so I'm happy and I will more than likely keep using these inserts as I don't see a good enough reason to upgrade yet. If anyone is interested the dimensions on the Pedders R31 Gas Sports Ryder are; extended: 590mm, compressed: 400mm, body: 362mm, diameter: 41.5mm. They seem to work well with ~8kg/mm springs, although I have no experience with any top of the range inserts to make a comparison. Anyway thanks everyone for the input but I think I'll just stick with these inserts for now.
  19. So I pulled the struts out this afternoon and I guess I'll take them apart soon. Thanks heaps for the info redspirit, I'll have a look into konis, they're super expensive though aren't they. Can't wait to get rid of this clonk in the front end!
  20. Thanks for the input guys, I was planning on pulling them apart, I really should have done it this weekend but I don't have the tools at the moment to do it. I guess I'll get the tools together through the week and do it next weekend. I'll see what the go is and get the dimensions of this supposed R31 sports insert, hopefully you're right about the gland nut Dave, or hopefully your aluminium idea works. If not I guess I'll go for some KYB AGXs like you said parrot, it just really sucks paying for this setup and then having to possibly replace the most expensive part of it. Anyway, any other recommendations on inserts; sw20, st185, st204 etc? Or are they all about the same?
