Cars coming together really good Matt, must be getting close to dropping the motor back in?

Have you got much left to assembling it?

Thanks mate. I still need to order my stall converter for the auto, plus the engine is pulled down again because it has sat for a year or so now.

not much to put it together though, just need to finish port matching the head, i only do an hour at a time, my poor compressor doesnt have a real big tank, so it doesnt get much rest time.

Love the bog dust absolutely everywhere in the garage!

Done some work on the old girl.....shaving the rear vents....hmmmm

Howd you clean out the numbers? Metal pick?

Yeh, lots of bog dust and overspray , I always say i will hose the shed out once i finish painting, it seems that day will never come.

don't shave your rear vents, it really is a prick of a job, so much time in those rear panels getting them to flow like they should, in hindsight not really worth it. same with the engine bay smoothness, but gotta try everything once i guess...

Yeh just used a pick to clean the numbers out, i have been caught out before while trying to get a car regoed. I had a few chips up there too, so not a complete waste of time. :y:

So the bottom end is now together, but thats about where it stopped for now.

PIC_0172.jpg

It turns out the oil pump I had I'm not real happy with, its not too bad but not good enough I have decided, so a new oone is on its way from seppoville.

PIC_0176.jpg

I also made my valves spring compressor suitable for the twin cam heads, a bit of a cut and shut.....

PIC_0174.jpg

But then realised I have no valve stem seals here, so i went down to the local bursons, $130 trade price. yikes!! So once again ebay and seppoland and some supertech ones are on their way for $65 delivered.

All ready to go... and waiting....

PIC_0173.jpg

Stall converter is on its way now, took all the measurements and ordered.

slingshot brand, I was prepared for big $$$ but definatelty punished the wallet even more than I expected!

Remaining corolla budget $000.10 .....It should be here in a week.

PIC_0175.jpg

Turbo lines, straight from china. Pretty damn good imo.

PIC_0171.jpg

Also bought some rear quarter rubbers for the ke25 off phils rotary,

The only ones i didnt replace as I didnt know they were available when i painted it.

They look good, but time will tell how they go with sun and all that...

Stall converter arrived within 2 weeks as promised, looks the goods and fits good, will see how it works before i put the excessively large 'slingshot' sticker on my toolbox.

Had the day off today, got a few small things sorted.

Head is now on the engine and torqued down.

PIC_0191.jpg

Drilled and tapped Wolf and Speco water senders into the factory positions, also tapped an extra position for the factory dash temp, might find a sender if i can be bothered,

PIC_0190.jpg

PIC_0197.jpg

got the water around the engine sorted, heater will now be courtesy of 2x 12v hair dryers so minimalised the pipework.

Turbo feed fitting.

PIC_0194.jpg

Heater pipes now looped.

PIC_0196.jpg

PIC_0195.jpg

PIC_0198.jpg

Have to sort out the vacuum tank for the quads, I have the factory one, not sure if I trust them pipes with 25psi.

PIC_0199.jpg

PIC_0193.jpg

Also sorting out the throttle cable as the quads are from a fwd, looks like i will make it pull from underneath the quads, should be neater too.

PIC_0192.jpg

Painting engine tomorrow pending less rain.

Todays effort...

engine painted, didnt do the rocker cover yet as it requires extra love.

PIC_0202.jpg

PIC_0203.jpg

Also painted the gearbox, a bit of a half effort though as it will be surrounded by tunnel soon enough.

PIC_0204.jpg

PIC_0205.jpg

Also decided to use the factory vacuum tank for the quads, moved some pipes around on it with the welder, and also changed the mounting bracket as my new plenum has had all the factory mounting points removed.
