Redwarf Posted May 21, 2006 Report Posted May 21, 2006 (edited) Well, I'm at it again. With the introduction of the Evo 2 Corolla, sadly the original car just doesn't cut it anymore. :( Don't get me wrong, it goes competently enough for what it is, but I have stumbled upon an opportunity to have the car I've always wanted. A week and a half ago I purchased for the right price an ex-hillclimb KE20 with a 2TG, T50 and a Celica diff. I now intend to build a TE27 Replica. Why do this when I already have a TE37 replica? Because I can. :) So, now after 15 years of ownership, I'm now enbarking on the 4th serious rebuild of the car. First stop is to strip the 20 of all it's goods. Engine came out today (88222 head on it), and the gearbox. It's a T50 with a cable operated clutch. Piccies soon. :) Panhard rod mounts removed. Pedal box half out (for Doug, bastard job, I may double the price...), next is to pull the suspension which is all Celica. Don't know what I'm going to do with it at the moment, as Evo1 does have good shit in the handling department. Just ask Fook. :D Lots of piccies to be taken, updates as we go along. Cheers R Edited May 21, 2006 by Redwarf Quote

Felix Posted May 21, 2006 Report Posted May 21, 2006 sounds like things are shaping up nicely. always thought the evo1 had far more class than the evo2. soon it will have the balls to match. :) Pedal box half out (for Doug, bastard job, I may double the price...) lol :) Quote
Xany Posted May 21, 2006 Report Posted May 21, 2006 Please be calling me for privlidge to work on vehicle :) Love your work rob :) hehehehe.....*puts hand up* me too! Quote
demuire Posted May 21, 2006 Report Posted May 21, 2006 why wouldn't you keep the suspension that's already in it? It's worked very well in the past, apart from the extra weight of the bigger diff and the 2TG (which isn't all *that* much and could probably be sorted with shock revalve and/or springs). But yes, good to see, I'm sure it'll be an absolutely awesome beast when it's done. After all, just look at what it was, and what Evo2 has become, and I'm sure it won't disappoint :) Quote
NoPsi Posted May 22, 2006 Report Posted May 22, 2006 Yes..yes keep the suspension 'coz you know I am eyeing off whatever ones you don't use. :) Quote
Redwarf Posted May 22, 2006 Author Report Posted May 22, 2006 Not much progress today, just got the stuff Felix wanted out of the car. However, have been taking Piccies. Now, calling all T50 gurus.... can anyone tell me what this box is out of? My guess is early Celica. Shifter is forward enough to fit through a normal 20 shifter hole. I've also included a pic of the clutch mechanism thingy, so that the cable clutch can operate it. A nice bit of work has been done to the gearbox crossmember to allow the exhaust past, too. Pics too of the 2tg and the panhard rod mount. Quote
Tiger Posted May 22, 2006 Report Posted May 22, 2006 Dwarf is the toughest Corolla ever. No questions asked. TE27 Replica = :D & :) *subscribes to this thread* :) *look at who wrote the post* I would've suspected a TA22 Celica owned that box for sure Quote
Redwarf Posted May 22, 2006 Author Report Posted May 22, 2006 That's my thought, too. The whole car reeks of TA22 Quote
Corolla_Kid Posted May 22, 2006 Report Posted May 22, 2006 Looking forward to see the result of this. Quote
Tiger Posted May 22, 2006 Report Posted May 22, 2006 More like "CAN'T WAIT TIL YOU DO A VIC TRIP WITH THIS ONE" :) And when you do... YOU BETTER CALL ME!!! :) hehehe Quote
