Toyota has turned to a group of 14-18 year olds to help formulate a styling direction to appeal to the next generation of car buyers. The manufacturer hopes the recently unveiled Sportivo Coupe concept sports car is just the vehicle to get the Toyota brand back in the minds of young drivers. The exterior was designed in Melbourne by 29 year old Nick Hogios who won Wheels magazine's Young Designer of the Year Award in 1999. His final design was based on feedback collected during market research sessions with a group of teenagers. "Other manufacturers are using motorsport and V8 engines but the Australian youth market is increasingly responding to small capacit…

Its just a thought Were do i start. i was thinking. Ke70 dash board = nice, but its just nice. Nothing too special. So, i thought, what dashboard & console could u put into a Ke70 that would.. 1. Look nice 2. Fit within reason - fewer mods as possible to fit into ke70 = good 3. be some what unique. The search was on. Ke55 dash? Nar. Ae86 Dash? Nar. Datsun 120 Y Dash? - Nar. S1 & 2 Rx7 Dash? - sounds good 2 me :) Does it fit? ... *scratches head... Ke70 Dash Width = 128.5 Cm* Rx7 Dash - 128.5 Cm Gear stick position => ya, it fits too... Mods to make it fit - custom piping from blowe = not too hard :D ! Re-Wiring o…

Starter motor in the Camry died... So called around to find a replacement, and was rather surprised... Supercheap @ Newmarket: $207.70 Repco @ Enoggera: $193.50 (approx, can't remember) Supercheap @ Enoggera: $263 (approx, can't remember) Toyota: $970!!! (approx, can't remember) Kelly Wreckers: $77.50 exchange PR Wrecking: $50 So off to PR Wrecking I went... But WOW, among the "new" prices, such a HUGE variance, even between the two Supercheap branches!

Looks as though I'm out for taking my car to the Rollaclub Cruise, seems this problem I've been having with my idle scince skidpan is going to take its toll, could only get it booked in to get it looked as soon as monday :) Should still be able to make it to the cruise though, seems i'll be bumming a lift with Savage in his KE70..

What's the deal with these? Do you just rock up and drive on and see how much you weigh and then drive off? Or is it a pay-per-use thing? Or...?

TOOL SECTION HAMMER: Originally employed as a weapon of war, the hammer nowadays is used as a kind of divining rod to locate expensive car parts close to the object we are trying to hit. Can also be used to bend nails. MECHANIC'S KNIFE: Used to open and slice through the contents of cardboard cartons delivered to your front door; works particularly well on boxes containing convertible tops or tonneau covers. ELECTRIC HAND DRILL: Normally used for spinning steel Pop rivets in their holes until you die of old age, but it also works well for drilling rollbar mounting holes in the floor of a sports car just above the brake line that goes to the rear axle. Also use…

everyone here likes to think about cars, besides what we're all going to do to our current cars, no doubt everyone's got some wild idea that is never going to happen, but you like to think of it and talk about it anyway. what sort of wild dreams do you guys have? here's a few of mine feral 3k motor i've got some 040 pistons, a spare bigport head, several sets of 4k valve gear, a 3k bottom end with a bill of sale, some second hand bearings that are pretty fresh. i'd love to just get a gasket set and some 040 rings, and slap it together with a cam. to keep it truly budget, a set of standard pistons would be better (none of this fancy boring business) and a quick hone, …

i was thinking today what car i will build after my white corona (in about a year or so) and i thouhgt i would get some opinions. i am thinking either another ke70/ae71 wagon and droping in an off it's nut 4agze and 5 speed, lowered 4 inchs with koni adjustables all round and a custom made IRS setup underneath its ass with some 16 inch 5 spokers, and a custom 2pak mulberry paintjob, ..............or a full time 4wd corolla tercel wagon (about '87) with similar running gear setup but 16inch multispokes, and body layered in 2pak electric blue with a lilac pearl, either would have worked engines and high pressure clutch setups and big power to support the looks......…

Heya guys, I wanna get a 2nd good little car for the misses to learn in and aswell as little run about ... budget is 1000 to 3000 has to be a 4cyl 5sp, have a back seat and 4 doors. It also needs to be easy to get parts for, easy to drive, cheap to run. I'm leaning towards this telstar I have borrowed from a family friend, but its FWD, 2.0 4cyl underpowered fuel guzler which puts me off. Any suggestions?

Some observations I've made... 1) If you're under the car, and the only real source of light is coming from a handheld florescent tube, everytime you put it down or try to hang it up, stand it up or otherwise stop holding it, it will spin around and shine straight in your eyes. 2) The more thought you put into putting something down so that you don't lose it, the less chance you have of finding it again 2 minutes later. 3) Even if you just put an extension cord down for a minute, it will invariably get tangled in anything and everything around it 4) If you wear glasses (like me), just as you get your head into the correct position to look at something, you…

Today I took the slave cylinder to Master-Cylinder exchange at slackscreek and got it cleaned up, rekitted and looked over for 30 bucks. Mate and I put it in, bleeded it and presto!! once again I can feel the clutch pedal working.... put the intercooler back on.. pod filter (which I mounted going stright up! lol (I had the bonnet off)) put the strut bar back on... plugged up half the dash.. and turned it over.. Maxi wiped the sleep from his eyes and started first go! I must say driving without a bonnet and having the pod mounted skyward coming 30cms out of where the bonnet should be is great for turbo induction sound effects lol but don't try that at home kiddies…

andrew, i notice in your signature you have an ST141 with a modified corolla carburettor, this interests me. i assume you have a carbed 3S? why go to such a small carb on such a large motor? what modifications have been done to the carb? what difference did it make? i like st141s. one of my "build every tough car in the world" dreams is an st141 wagon dumped on big chromies or moondiscs, with a lumpy carbed 3S :)

Hey guys Went for a drive to Springbrook today to collect some rocks for my aquarium.. anyhow since maxi is off the road a family friend has lent me the use of his 1983 FWD 2.0 Carby Ford Telstar (rebadged Mazda 626). For a very heavy underpowered car it can actually move quite well through corners, today I left a done up excel for dead, caught a Saab and still managed to have a great drive in a very 'crapy' car. I've decided I'm a cornering person... I love corners at speed... the feeling of balancing the car...controlling it ... taming it.. listening to engine sing.. being prepared for the next corner to do it all over again.... what a rush :) :D Tomm…

Today I was feeling a little better from my fever and stomach bug so I decided I might take my g/f for a short ride in Choc-Buddha(MTB trail). We were going great, I did the ramp/log first time and got it first go Then we made our way to the ramps that go onto the log... I did it the 2nd time round.. the whole thing.. after a couple of losses of balance I was going well until I lost balance on the log and my head went straight into a tree breaking the helmet apart completely... its shattered, my whole body weight + bike weight... was compacting my head/neck against the tree.... I can't really remember much after that.. I have a huge headache, neckpains, and grazes…
