  1. You want to check all of the water gallaries for corosion on the bottom face that contact the head. Also check how well the valves are seating. You can attached the extractors and inlet manifold befor refitting to the head, however you would want to make sure the torque setting are correct (particularly on the drivers aide) as the weight of the manifolds hanging off the other side could effect the torque settings.
  2. You might already know this after doing you turbo water lines but the straight fittings are pretty cheap ($8'ish each). Its when you start using lots of 45* or 90* fitting that it gets expensive ($35+ each). When I did all of mine I used as many 90* adapters as I could and hence ended up with a lot of straight fittings which was heaps cheaper. Now that I've pulled my car apart a few times myself and my mates who help all love the speedflow fittings as they just make life so easy. >|
  3. Pfft. PROPER speedflow fitting don't have hose barbs on them!! >|
  4. haha sounds familiar! Should just search your old PM's mate. >|
  5. Agreed. Take him both, then he can pick the best one.... or use parts off both to make one gopod one. Oh and a little bit of corosion inside the thermostat housing is the least of your worries. I would have been putting up pics of the bottom face. >|
  6. Cams and rocker gear is interchangable, but the lifter and pushrods are not (5k lifter bore is bigger). If you want to do a solid lifter conversion then just get yourself some chevy lifters and Datsun A12 pushrods.
  7. Just take it back and tell them they farked up and you want it fixed for free. >|
  8. hahaha thats only cause that car had had a dodgy rust repair with bog done to it.
  9. Just like with any other car it really depends on how you drive it. With my IDA fed 13b bridgey I can get to Hobart and back on a tank (450 odd km)....... but I could also use that tank of fuel in about an hours worth of "spirited driving".
  10. Any plans to put an IDA or some other sort of carby on it? Surely that would give it a bit more poke than the stock nikki!
  11. This weekend mate!!! :jamie: I'm in too :no2:
  12. Have a look for some vids on youtube mate. :no2:
  13. No worries at all mate. I'm just happy to see another XKTX on the road..... well in this case see it running! :no2: You've helped me out today anyway..... although I do feel a bit bad about the turbo "poach". Calling the VL guy tonight to have a chat. Did he reply to your PM and give you more info? if so could you forward what else he told you. Just your first PM today inplied you knew a bit more about it than what was in the add.
  14. Then look harder. :jamie: :no2:
  15. Hopefully this will help try and explain what I mean....
  16. The XR6T cooler? Oh and sorry I didn't get a chance to take some more pics last night. Hopefully will tonight for you. I think your major clearance issue is going to be the throttle body being too close to the ex housing of the turbs. The 7ke manifolds are in 2x pieces. One idea I did have last night was to make up a re-locating spacer plate to put in between the 2x halves. If you could get the throttle body/plenum half way between where they are stock and a 4ke manifold you might be right. I'll try and find a pic of my manifold to show you what I mean. :no2:
  17. Nah mate the S15 one will be quite a bit bigger, plus its a different design for the BB core. Do you have a link or something for this turbo in question?
  18. So the S15 turbo has a push on inlet like this..... http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Garrett-GT-Turbo-Ni...=item414d0da781 ....Instead of the 2x bolt one?
  19. Contact Philbey. He's already tried to tell you once he is serious.
  20. yeah as your turbs sits up pretty high. If I get time tonight I'll try and take some more which would help.
  21. We sort of also need a pic of both from directly front on too. :no2:
  22. Thought this might make things easier, however my pic probably isn't straight above enough.
  23. Cool. This pic might help in the meantime....
  24. Tastey! :D On a side note - F1 will actually be a bit more interesting this year as the will no longer be any mid race re-fuelling. The cars are now slightly wider and longer to accomodate a 250 litre tank. Pit stops are now expected to take around 3 seconds for tyres only. The 3 session qualifying will remain the same, including fuel loads in the last session. But then before lining up on the grid they will all be filled to the brim.
  25. Hate to say it mate but I think you might be up for a struggle to fit 7ke gear with that turbo location. I'll take you some pics an measurement of my engine bay and we'll see. In the meantime see if benzeder can take another pic of the bay looking directly down on the engine.
