Just getting stripped down at the moment so not too much has happened. The bike actually used to be his dad's then he sold it like 10-15 years ago. My mate has now just bought it back off the guy who bought it off his dad. Engine has only done 4 hours since the full rebuild and CC increase...... probably cause its too damn hard to start with the kick starter! haha
I showed him the hardtail you got from the states and he said "Yeah I was going to get one of those".
One of my mates just bought an old XS650 to convert to a hardtail. Showed him your projects thread and he said he wants to do pretty much exactly the same thing.
His has been bored and stroked to something stupid like 780cc now though!!
I had a similar problem way back in my pizza boy days.
The alternator was running or like 1/4 diodes.
Car would still start fine, although it did turn over a little slow. Drive fine during the day (with headlights off), but if I tried to put my headlights on it would completely die in the arse. Had to drive at night for like a week before I got it fixed using only the park lights!! :D
Got alt rebuild and all good again.
Can you maybe borrow an alt of somebody to check if this is the problem?
While I think of it another very annoying problem I had once while driving for dominos was a really bad missfire when ever it was under heavy load (like going up a hill). Dad and I spend a couple of hours one evening tring to work out what it was with no luck. We then put the car in the garage after basically giving up and it was just dark enough to see the spark that was jumping from the faulty coil>dizzy lead back onto the coil terminal. Turned out to be a $5 fix with a new lead. If I were you I'd just fit a whole new set of bosch super sport plug leads (should be able to get the propper capped plug leads for K's) from supercheap for like $20. :D
haha sure has when you put it that way!!!
I do miss the old torque monster CT12 setup..... and the TD04L for that matter too.
Would still love to do a twin turbo (maybe 7k) one day with a couple of CT12's. Just for the TT coolness. :D
Maybe that what I should do to Mud so I don't have to loose my aircon! :D
Correct, I should have thought of that.
However, I have noticed these seal kist on egay....

The cost of the rebuild labour would probably not be worth it for a T25G though.
Just look into blow-through instead, then you can also run a cooler and fully hektik BOV.
Just an idea: As much as Hollybank or Bridport have been good, somehwere a bit different would also be good.
Instead of heading north east, maybe we could head north west! Say out to D'port along the highway (with and Andy stop ofcourse) for a BBQ and then through the frankford and west tamar on return!?
Beastly careless either way, just a suggestion. :D
Should have been at least 3 different cars there then!! :D :D
Yeah I went to Blue for brunch and saw them all packed in the front of Aurora. What was wrong with the usual (ex MS fest) spot between Aurora and the new Polytechnic!?
Shame its not a hiace you want to ship over. You could pack LRS's starlet into the 'ace (sideways maybe) and then he can pay half your shipping costs!!! hehe
Have a hunt for an appropiate sized piece of poly pipe etc. Cut a slot down one side so you can "compress" it. Insert piston and compress. Hold above the bore and and push the piston in. :D
Yes all "ancillaries" are transferable.
Hopefully you have the 3k engine mounts as well still, as the passenger side one is different to a 4k one.
Let me know if not as I think I still have some 3k mounts in a box somewhere.
Hmm. Just though that might be something to bear in mind if you wanted to run high boost through it. Remeber reading something about the Toyota SC's not like too much over 15'ish PSI before the teflon starts to let go.
Yeah the coating/compression thing would just be like a turbo compressor wheel which has rubbed on the housing a bit and then struggles to hold boost in.
There's some sort of import rule for bringing cars over from NZ where if you've own it over there for atleast 12 months then you can get it shipped over here.
Wish that was the case for me! :y:
I need to get the mazda finished, thats really only waiting on me getting some LED strip off egay and doing final assembly.
....then I need to get this Tar stuff done......
....and then, I can finally start on this 4x4 monstrosity. :y:
Whats the go with yours? Lack of funds or something?
...oh and when are we doing your ktc setup? I reckon you should just get it running on orb (for uber dirt fun) and then transfer it into one of your other cars.
You know where I'll be at 7:30 tonight if you're bored!
