:fuzz: Keen to hear more Cam!! What do you use for blue, like copper sulfate or something!?
-
Yep deffinately a W40. Dunno what the BH is, can tel you as much as its not R-W though! Don't forget it not uncommon to find a W40/50 behind 202's, 253's, 308's, and ever rotors, so don't automatically assume its a stock toyota BH! :fuzz:

Simon is now sitting at home very pissed off because he thought this was tomoz, not today!! :D :( :fuzz: Hope you get some good vids guys. :) ....and Daim, maybe you should have given me a wake up cal!! :bash:

Ended now anyway. Fusion - I can tell its for a T50 because the spline is to big for a k40/50. k40 - 21.6mmX19T........21.6mm diametre shaft with 19 teeth T50 - 23.8mmX21T :fuzz:

Hey guys, got a small favour. Can everybody who reads this with an ebay account please take the time for me to quickly send the seller of this ebay item a question simple saying......"is this clutch kit for a K40/50 or T50 gearbox". http://cgi.ebay.com.au/TOYOTA-COROLLA-CLUT...1QQcmdZViewItem I have been trying to explain to the seller what it is (it is the T50 clutch) and have had the highest bid the whole time.....and then he starts arguing with me and bans me from bidding on his item!!!! :bash: Oh and if we have a member here who's ebay account is fordvanman70, send me a PM. :fuzz:

this is a good pic for a couple of reason, 1 because you can see me, the camera, even my finger coming off the button in the semi mirror finish. and 2 because it shows how I didn't take pitting out of anywhere the flapper wheels wouldn't fit. :P But also sorta shows how much work's in it. Another close up of the pitting.....should really show you's this should I!!? As you'd also see in the first pic off the camera, I didn't sand smooth anywhere that was going to be covered by fuel lines/rail injector wiring etc. Save a little bit of work there.

Yeah trev, as soon as you start doing it you may regret it as it can be a lot of work...but on the other hand, if you do finish it off I know you'll be 1000% happier!!! :) The real trick to polishing metal is all in the 'prep' type work, like doing a nice re-sprsay. Yeah sure you can polish pitted alloy and make it shiny, but its just like polishing a bonnet etc that has shocking orange peel paint!!! :drgrim: :blazin: Get the surface nice and smooth, I'm talking use file if need be (thats how far I had to go with my IDA one!! :P ) then 80, 150, 400 dry then wet, wet 800 then 1200, depends how far you wanna go!! How does the old expression go......Can't polish a turd!!!!! :P I go take some more pics now with the camera. :)

That would most likely be a microtech X4 ignition module, looks like this......? http://microtechefi.com/microtech-products.php?product_id=7 I'm wouldn't call myself an expert like NickZ or anything, but I've been doing a lot of research (or hands on learning) lately to try fully understand everything I'm doing in the new setup. Basically won't put something in until I know what it is and how it works, so here's a small bit of info I can give you: To be running a distributor-less ignition system, the ECU is getting a dual pulse input signal from the crank/cam sensor which indicates the position piston #1. The ECU gets a single pulse for all other cylinders. These pulses are used to fire the injectors in either bank mode or sequential. Banked is obviously firing all at once, on every single and the #1 dual pulse. Or with sequential, because the ECU knows the position of #1, and the firing order, it can individually fire injectors when fuel is actually needed in each cylinder! Personally I think, if you're not running sequential injection already, then it would be a good thing to look into, even if it is going to cost you a little extra in tuning fees!! Just learn something else as I was typing that!: was going to say that you could probably change your ECU to seq your self if you had a hand controller, as its not changing the air/fuel or load maps, but just the way they fire. But then I realised it would need some re-tuning as the injectors are firing 25% less, and would have to fire 400% more in one hit!! Any, bit side tracked, back to ignition. If you do have an X4 ignition module, then they can run 2x dual coils (waste spark) like you have, or 4 seperate coils. It's basically a 4 channel ignitor (if you have an older one). If you don't know what ignitors do, they're basically just an earthing relay - As the ECU fires the coil by pulling it to ground, it needs the ignitor to relay the grounding so it doesn't fry the ECU. A normal relay would theoretically work if you wired it right, but would not cope with the high loads and wouldn't switch fast enough at high RPM. Anyway...what I'm trying to get at with the above dribble is that the setup you currently have give you a few options in what you do now. 1, Just replace the dual coil (or both) and leave it how it is, with no 'real improvement'. Pretty much any of the coils in the links in this thread will do, or a commonwhore one as you mentioned, tip - MSD make after-market replacement ones! :) 2, Up grade your ignition system to 4 coils for more accurate spark. Obviously this will require some re-tuning, but you could also do the seq injection thing at this time if your not running it now. 3, Do some more research into other types of higher end ignitions systems like an MSD unit or another type of CDI system. Having read your projects thread etc, you don't seem to be the type of guy who just 'fixes' things, but improves them!!! So I doubt we'll be seeing you go for option 1 if you know whats good for you! :P :P BTW, check out the price difference in say the M&W ignitors between the place cuzzo linked and wolf!!....... http://wolfems.cart.net.au/cat/6164.html Both those links have a bit more info in them. Don't even get me started on braided hose and speedflow/aeroquip fittings! :P

something I've been looking into lately is these...... http://cgi.ebay.com.au/New-SplitFire-Di-Ig...1QQcmdZViewItem then you can get rid of the waste spark twin coil setup in the ECU tune, and go sequential injection if you haven't already. :P Might just wanna investigate if there is much height difference between the 4a - RB/SR "plug length", ie from top of spark plug to cover between rockers. :P Think they have built in ignitors as well! Edit: from this add.... http://cgi.ebay.com.au/SPLITFIRE-COIL-PACK...1QQcmdZViewItem Si.

so you think the bleeding finger tips was worth it!! :P :P

Got a bit more work done over the xmas break while I am still waiting on parts...... Got an ignitor and wired that in, so appart from the air temp sender (2 wires) the ECU is now completely wired. This setup is only an interum thing until I get a CAS, 4 coils and ignitors etc. Then it will be re-tuned with sequential injection. Next, this was the "have to finish at xmas" part!!! :P As illuded to in an earlier post, when polishing the runners, I got a little carried away with the dremel and started polishing the upper half of the mani and plenum!! Ofcourse this meant I had to finish it!!! :P :) Was majorly pitted (see b4 pic) and took a lot of work just to take that out. All I can say is amen to sanding flapper wheels, would have given up if it wasn't for them. :) b4....... after..... will get a better pic of it later on the camera.

There's a place for all of gods creatures Shades.........right next to the mashed potatos!!!! :P

Targa Tas started the "rookie rally" last year in both modern and classic. If you haven't run targa befor then you have to do the rookie rally first. Last year was won by a Gemini coupe, with 1600, sidies, etc. Was Mozza (Adrian) from Moonah Auto Salvage, for any body who knows him. 7shades - Who do you work work for!? I'm a "glorified roady" as well!!
