  1. From what length you've taken your struts to now, you could get ST185 celica shocks and on-sell the SW20's... off the top of my head SW20 is 365100 and ST185 is 365077. May need a small spacer under the insert though. PM me with your number if you have any more questions before going further with it tomorrow (I've made AE86, XT130 and RA40 coilovers using HSD kits and shorter inserts before).
  2. Good stuff :) What brand are the tyres you'll be rocking on the MA's? Very cool/odd size.
  3. This Sprinter is for sale. I will not have the space to start building it the way I want to for some time still so I may as well let another enthusiast take over the project. Still complete and driveable on unregistered vehicle permit. Car was previously registered in WA so I think rego will be easy without need for compliance once the rust is sorted first. Cheers, Paul.
  4. So will this be making the GOR 2012 trip?
  5. Can't find the paper with dimensions which I did before install unfortunately. Here is a photo of how mine sits with the following specs. KYB Excel G ST185 inserts XT130 Struts, shortened 50mm HSD sleeve kit (helper springs not used) XT130 LCA's Racing logic camber tops 40mm RCA's 185/50/R14 on 14x7 +2 Obviously just a tad low for a daily pano hence the search for a longer insert. It's a great track setup though, so happy with it.
  6. Is the equivalent Excel G insert part number 365100? Also do you know the insert length of a front SW20 insert? I think the part number may be 365099 for the Excel G fronts. I've built coilovers for my 71 based on ST185 inserts and it's sweet but I'm about to do it all again for my pano daily and want to have a slightly longer insert. Sucks that I hunt around the net and can't find a chart with all dimensions. I want to make sure i can have a bit of extra height than what the 185's offer, as I actually cut 50mm from the length of the XT130 strut bodies to fit the 185 shocks with no spacers.
  7. Are you referring to SW20 front inserts? Cheers, Paul.
  8. I too will keep an eye out, shame to see a nice XX end up in the wrong hands.
  9. You have a good eye for this benny boy, I might have to hit you up for a bit of your time in a few weeks to help me lay some stripes down on my white paint.
  10. Keep the running gear for Joels car if he insists on having automatic ;)
  11. Just make sure the gap between the rear quarter panel and the boot lid is the same from the bottom of the window to the corner of the boot lid. I looks like the gap is smaller above the light than it is below the window. The previous owner of my sedan had a crash and if never got fixed properly and it is really annoying for me to look at on my car. I would suggest taking the opportunity now to spend a bit of time getting it right, so it doesn't bother you later making you want to do it again. ;)
  12. From what I've observed... KE70/AE71 seadans have 21mm swaybar, as do the wagons. KE70/AE71 panelvans have 23mm swaybar I recently put XT130 arms in my AE71 sedan, and an AE71 pano swaybar. I did notice that the holes in the LCA's for the link pins were further apart in the XT130 LCA's, so the link pins were a pain to install and would have looked like this / \ What i did to overcome it was heat the swaybar with an oxy (at the 90 degree bend where the D bushes go) to enable me to stretch the eye holes 10mm outwards each side. All on a workbench with stringline and tape measure in case you were visualising some bush mechanic shit. Are you in Melb? I have my old swaybar from the sedan still if you want it.
  13. In my AE71 I did the XT130 conversion. Even with just single piston calipers (from the early more common XT130) and Lucas pads it's a big difference. I bought my shocks cheap off a bloke who got them new and did not use them, he said they were to suit an ST185 Celica, they're KYB Excel G's. I cut 50mm out of my strut tubes and re-welded before sleeving. There's no real cheap way of doing a coilover conversion but I'll give you what I payed for my stuff as a guide. Sleeve kit $300+post Shocks $150+post XT130 struts, complete brakes, steering knuckles and LCA's for $180 at pick-a-part New wheel bearings $30 Machine disks $40 Lucas pads $80 Camber tops $100+post +30 for new spherical bearings +time for me to restore and make spacers (Next time I think I'll buy new camber tops) RCA's $100 New bushes for my whole front end along with balljoints and tierods $can't remember Before buying Corona struts I would suggest checking the stub axle/king pin angle on you corolla against the corona. On an E7 rolla I think you get slightly positive camber from installing XT130 struts if you leave the corolla LCA's and standard tops in. If you're going with camber tops I would be less worried about it. Also something else to note is you'll probably just keep your original KE30 LCA's as I think they're same length as XT130 (KE70/AE71 are shorter) I hope some of that info helps.
  14. Hey mate, just searching around for info for my own project I found this. Sounds the goods, I'll be keeping an eye on this hoping to see updates. Best of luck with the project, there's a few man hours in it but she'll be pretty sweet when done.
  15. Worth 30+ yeah but not 93K Original AE71 with 127,000kms is worth 2500 easy in my opinion. Some people pay 500 bucks for an E7 and pour in too much money and time to have a car which worse than a nice original.
  16. I might be down for this to see what figures square-car puts out.
  17. Brown one's just a 3T single cam, Scott's yellow one is 2TG. I think Shannon knows those times back from when he did the 6 hour. They don't time on fundays.
  18. Umm, I think it's 3T with a cam grind, 45 side webber, extractors/exhaust, sigma LCA's, locked 4.1, RE001 tyres and GQ patrol springs. Not too sure if there's much more to it than that. Being used to the car and having no fear help too, haha.
  19. Always big smiles on track day, come say g'day next time and we'll see if you can come out for a passenger run with one of us. The 22 does roughly 1:50ish around Winton ;)
  20. Big thanks, Shaz will be happy :)
  21. Thanks, haha. My cousin asked me for photo's of old Goldy too, it would be much appreciated if you could throw a couple up of the 22 if you get a chance. Cheers, Paul.
  22. The overtaking in corners thing is really just a "take it as it comes type thing". I was doing it and having cars pass me but only when I wanted them to (like when the freight train of quick stuff comes past, the RX7's subaru and kitted out race commo) I got past a supercharged stato, hosed me off on the straights three laps in a row so it took some corner work to get the upper hand. I hope the driver of the Escort does actually realise what he did was his fault in the end because on the day he played the blame game from what I'm aware. A bit more patience would have seen him enjoy a few more laps as the day progressed and got to take home 60-70 grands worth of car in one piece, to enjoy another day.
  23. Cheers for getting the photo of my white 71, waved g'day a few times during the day but never got around to coming up to chat. Next time I will. Did you get any more photo's of my AE71? Also my cousins Celica's? http://www.ifpix.com/product_info.php?products_id=25933 http://www.ifpix.com/product_info.php?products_id=25012 The Escort came in hot on turn 10 from the outside and cut off the Celica, clipped it and flipped. So much for obeying the "no overtaking in corners" rule of the day which is just an "introduction to motorsport" lol. Was really gut wrenching to see that Escort's turret after the crash and ever worse to think there were 2 people in the car.
  24. Spotted cam at winton haulin arse in his 25
  25. The shell on that 55 actually looks pretty damn good. If anyone is considering re-shelling their 55 coupe I'd suggest maybe checking it out.
