  1. How long ago was that? Federal list them on their website as an authorised Federal dealer
  2. These are the only photos I could find of the Newcastle car back when I was involved: 2004 - "Lefty" (because it only had one side-pod, on the left) - wasn't actively involved in the car but hung around learning the system, got to drive it a fair bit in 2004 and 2005 whilst the 2005 car was being built 2005 - "Pig" (because it was loud, big, heavy, and drank like a fish) - did the suspension uprights and hubs as my final year project, initially was going to implement the hardware side of a traction-control system but didn't get it finished in time Both ran the F4i with a Haltech E6X computer, from memory it was still the 20mm restrictor at that stage too
  3. http://www.federaltyres.com.au/dealer-locator
  4. The F4i is a good solid engine, I'm just surprised teams are still using them, they were getting old back when I was going FSAE in 2005, a lot of teams were starting to move on to twins and singles to get the weight down
  5. CBR600 F4i or have they moved onto something better/more modern?
  6. I used to have one, can't remember if I sold it or not :P It didn't cover the 4AGE/EFi versions though so I don't think a wiring diagram would be much use
  7. I never buy what tyre guys recommend - it is mostly just bullshit to make up sales quotas, unless you actually know the guy or can eyeball the car and tyres mentioned, assume they are lying. Here's what a standard conversation goes like when I go into a shop to buy tyres: "Hi what have you got in a 205/40/17 (obviously a performance size), good grip in both dry and wet, like a Bridgestone RE001" "Sorry we don't have any Bridgestones in stock at the moment, but we've got some Austones, they're an awesome tyre, I've got them on my car and they're great in the wet" "Nah, after something better than that" "Well we've got some Nexens, they're an awesome tyre, I've got them on my car and they're great in the wet" "Don't think you quite understand, I want a _proper_ good tyre" "Ahh, well we can order in some Yokohama C-drives, have them by the end of the week, they're an awesome tyre, I've got them on my car and they're great in the wet" "Look, just STFU - I basically came in here wanting RE001s, so far you've given me nothing even close. Just give me a price on RE001s, and anything truly comparable that you can order in, and then go ʞ©$ɟ yourself when I go elsewhere due to your complete incompetence".
  8. I'm sure something can be changed to "flat-cap" too...
  9. I'd call you crazy... everyone knows you have overrated sauce on lamb chops, not pork
  10. Actually, if your car breaks then it is almost certainly stopped :P
  11. Makes me want to own a KE30/55 again...
  12. Looks like he managed to build up a pretty decent tan in-between...
  13. A while ago this forum was having issues with people trying to sell rust-boxes and crapped-out cars as "m_i_n_t". To try and combat this, a word filter was rather humourously implemented to automatically change the word "m_i_n_t" into "overrated", to stop people trying to use it to sell cars that weren't in what would be classed as actual "m_i_n_t" condition (ie perfect paint, no tears in the interior, spotlessly clean, little/no modifications etc). And to try and stop people getting around the filter by replacing the "i" with a "1", the word "m_1_n_t" was filtered out and replaced with "of questionable quality" Note, the underscores are there to get around the word filter :P
  14. XT130 would imply the 1X/Holden Start-a-fire, no?
  15. I noticed this last weekend when I went to see it in Gold Class, it's actually the same Corolla over and over again...
  16. ^^this. 4AGE idle speeds are dependent on the cooling system, so if there was a problem with the cooling system that got fixed during the service (ie air bubble etc) then the idle speed will change. Also, 4AGEs idle quite high when cold (~2000rpm) and a lot of people think that isn't normal and try and turn the idle speed down to something that they think is more normal (say ~1300rpm) but that then completely screws up the warm idle speed and causes the car to stall. If there is an air-bubble in the cooling system then the car might stay at cold idle speeds the whole time, which hides the fact that the idle speed screw might be set completely out of whack.
  17. That is known as the AE92 "wagon face" (comes on the JDM diesel AE92 wagon, which is a different beast to the AE95 we got here), the AE92 Sprinter sedans and liftbacks had the Seca/AE95-style front end (what we call an AE92 Seca is actually a Sprinter Cielo in Japan). Note how it is the same overall shape to the headlights and guards as the normal AE92 sedan/hatch, which usually indicates that it isn't a Sprinter. Here is the original fitment on an AE92 wagon
  18. Define "Sprinter". There has been a Sprinter model of every Corolla series from KE10 to AE110. I assume you're referring to an AE86 though... And if you want to be pedantic, the AE95 was called the Sprinter Carib in Japan, so it already is a Sprinter wagon :P
  19. Smallports have the same style wax-pellet cold-idle valve and Cold Start Injector setup as the bigports do (at least in FWD-land)
  20. WPMO - first ever PayPal claim I've ever had to file in my ~10 years of using eBay... Bought a set of Sony W273 MP3 headphones to use at the gym, seller was in Aus as opposed to all the others who were overseas, plus free postage, so it looked like a good deal. Didn't look into feedback past a cursory glance (it was a number in the 50s with no negative feedback), bought said item on the 30th of May via PayPal, seller marked item as posted on the 1st of June......3+ weeks later, and nothing has arrived in the mail (only coming from Victoria). Decide that maybe there has been a stuff-up or something, go into the seller's profile only to find 9 separate negative feedback claims since the purchase date from other buyers who hadn't received their items. Further investigation showed no positive feedback from any buyers at all, and all the sellers positive feedback seemed dodgy (had the exact same feedback from different sellers down to the letter, and all items purchased were ~$1, usually things like clips and pins) - looks like he purchased a bunch of stuff worth next to nothing to inflate his feedback rating. So it looks like I got burned, fair enough that I didn't look into things too much but at least there is decent evidence out there that it is a scam, should hopefully get my money back at least.
  21. According to old Top Gear it can beat an Mk3 8V Golf GTi....
  22. CSi will mean it's the base-model 4AFE, as well as drum-brake rear end. Upgrading the rear to discs is an option then, but unless you're doing a lot of hard driving you probably wouldn't notice it And yes I totally understand blacking out the window surrounds :P I need to do mine soon, no idea why Toyota in their infinite wisdom decided to body-colour them (the top-spec models like the RV and Ultima had black ones though). Makes the car look a whole lot better. If I had to sum up the best style for the AE10x, it would be subtle. The shape and stance of the car lends itself very well to subtle mods like colour-coding, lowering and maybe a slightly more agressive front bumper (I recommend the JDM FXGT front end, like I have) and a small rear spoiler. For reference, this is mine ('97 Conquest sedan) http://www.rollaclub.com/board/topic/7785-hiros-ae102/
  23. Come to think of it, that looks like a smallport water outlet on the end of the head too....interesting that it has a bigport intake plenum, would hate to think that someone has just slapped a bigport manifold (with or without the TVIS plate) on a smallport head (the bolt pattern is the same but the port shape is _completely_ different...) without at least matching the ports up (not that there is any reason to not use the smallport intake...)
  24. Smallport w/TVIS is bullshit, by the way - might be getting confused with early AE92s (JDM) still having the bigport TVIS engines. All Australian AE92/93 SX and GTi had the smallport. Also, there is such a thing as a 7-rib bigport, they came in the series 2 AW11 MR2s, Series 3 AE82 Twincams, as well as the aforementioned early JDM AE92s (mainly Levins I think)
