this is a cool car. ive not seen this thread before, keep up the good work, will keep my eye open for updates! i probably would have put that fuel system under the car (I'm not a fan of fuel inside the car), but hey if it works it works.
-
not sure on the fuel thing, maybe.. some info here might be helpful: http://www.rollaclub.com/faq/index.php?title=Tech:Engine/K_Series/Alternator
-
what makes me sick: a large double quarter pounder.
-
alternatively.... take alternator back to wreckers get money back. take original alternator to auto electrician, get him to test it. and/or get him to fix it. then no stuffing around with regulators. did you check your voltage with running engine to make sure that the alternator wasn't charging? also, "neg, earth, fuel"....what is fuel?

i tend to agree that music tends to spoil car videos. untill i saw this video: http://vimeo.com/3434096?pg=embed&sec=&hd=1 trying not to clutter up the thread here, but this is a very cool video. music in videos needs to be done well, or it just looks a bit tacky.

4 Speed Shifter In 5 Speed Box?
ke70dave replied to sweet ke coupe's topic in KExx Corolla Discussion
i am under the impression that the above is correct. which means you can buy a short shifter for a t50 (reasonably readily available), and put it in your k50  -
alot of good ideas here..however... i just took out the axles, took them to mechanic with new bearings, paid him 30$ to change them over on his press, and then put them back in again. i have a small press but i couldn't get the bearings off, press wasn't big enough for that. so i let the mechanic do his thing. also you had better change them now rather than later, as if it fails catastrophically it may do damage to your or worse!

The Toyota Corolla is a line of subcompact and compact cars manufactured by the Japanese automaker Toyota, which has become very popular throughout the world since the nameplate was first introduced in 1966. In 1997, the Corolla became the best selling nameplate in the world, with over 35 million sold as of 2007.[2] Over the past 40 years, one Corolla car has been sold on average every 40 seconds

still doesnt explain why you want higher oil pressure.

if at first you don't succeed....destroy all evidence of ever trying. nah don't do that. learn from it! the only way to work out what you are good at, is to cross off things you aren't good at...so just keep searching :y:

maybe you just haven't discovered your calling in life yet :y:

How Long Are Ae86 Power Steering Arms ??
ke70dave replied to dbr11k's topic in Automotive Discussion
found this pic: doesnt have measurements...but seems to add up with parrots numbers. looks about 20mm difference? -
whats the price difference? good sized SSRs are going to cost you a fortune.
-
that is interesting. if you are keen, you could do some measurements to find out what changed. figure out where the strut is located in relation to the 3 bolts, sounds like its not in the centre. then try and maximize your castor, because everyone likes a bit more castor! you want the strut top to be located as far back as it can, so you get more angle on your strut.
-
i do have the 160gb ipod plugged into the stereo (USB..so it even charges it!)......but i don't mind feeling connected to the world by a radio station sometimes:P hearing things like news stories and what not... since i never watch TV i can go a whole week without hearing whats going on in the world!:P
-
it can matter if they are designed to give you more camber or castor. ie the strut top not mounted in the center of the 3 bolts.
-
if you are confident that you bolted everything back together....then its wheel alignment issues. when front suspension compresses you get a toe change on your wheel. So if you lower the car....your wheel alignment at static height changes, which is what you are experiencing. you can do a pretty good job of wheel alignment in your garage. there was a thread around about this no long ago. but yeah best to spend the $50 and get it aligned at a tyre shop.

what on earth is a 165/35/R17 supposed to go on? what kind of car has like a 17 x ~5.5 wheel? all google gives me is motorbike wheels...

hmm good point. how does the dave craig fan mount to the radiator though? just through the fins? thats how my dodgy supercheap fan is mounted, and its certainly not ideal. my housemate got some fans of a BA falcon i think, two huge things, mounted them to his monster radiator in his cefiro. quite low profile too. looked like you could seperate them down the centre, and i reckon 1 fan would be enough for a small k radiator.

we have a winner! ding ding ding. i am a recent JJJ convert, it is just so good not having to listen to adverts. and most of the music on there is actually quite good, and if its not good, you know that it will be over in 3mins and they will play another song... unlike nova, where its about 15mins between songs, because between each song is 5mins of adverts.

ive got a 10" supercheap jobby, and does the job. however if i was to do it again, i would go to the wreckers and find an electric fan off a FWD car and adapt it to work. OEM fans genrally have bigger blades, so they can spin slower and move just as much air. they also come with an AWEOMSE shroud which helps alot to keep things cool. all FWDs have like an "opposite" ground switch on them. so if the switch fails, the fan just stays on. like a safety measure. so what i suggest you do is: -measure ke70 radiator, and measure how much clearance you have between the engine and radiator (with oem fan removed) -go to wreckers with this information, and crawl through the early FWD section (early mazda 323's, corollas, hondas) find something that will fit. -remove fan, take fan over to ke70 section of wreckers and try and fit it, or at least make sure its going to fit. -either find thermo switch in the car you removed the fan from or: -crawl through the tridon catalogue and find a switch that suits your needs, one that say turns on at 90degC, turns off at 80degC. (or so, check the stats on the ke70 thermostat and design accordingly) -make sure tridon switch will screw somewhere into ke70 cooling system, might need to be creative here. -wire it all up with a relay, making sure that you set it up in such a way that if the thermo switch dies (or wire is unplugged), the fan stays on (http://www.tridon.com.au/Products/Product.aspx?SG=8&S=35&G=483&P=2014) final step, enjoy your newly found 2kw of power!

if you want to get real technical you arent allowed to do any mods at all no matter what license you have, without getting an emissions test etc. (as far as i know) the thing about putting a budget on your car mods is that it is completely unrealistic.just start researching, and as you get an understanding of what is a good idea and what is not get on the look out for parts. saying "i have 600 to spend on mods" is a bit silly, as mods are done over a long period of time (usually), circumstances change etc. pluss you don't get much for 600, you will be lucky to get a remotely decent exhaust for that. example, you go the electronic dizzy and new coil route. new coil: 50 (GT40), dizzy: (say 100 2nd hand) sounds great? 150 bucks. you go to install dizzy, you find leads and cap aren't so great, buy new ones, another 100bucks.all of a sudden you have just spent $260bucks on a simple dizzy replacement. which is almost half your budget. maybe i am just unlucky, but for me almost every time i go to mod my car, it costs heaps more than it is supposed to, and takes heaps longer. admittedly i do try and do things properly each time, but still i have no good luck that is for sure.

have you seen "office space" reminds me of that. opening scene, when the dude is stuck in traffic, and keeps changing lanes, while the old guy walking with his walking frame speeds on bye. great movie!
