Just make sure you buy one with a twincam already in it. A factory twincam one has better brakes and suspension I think. Best to buy a factory kitted one to avoid any mod ssues with the D.O.T. If you have your opens you can get whatever. If you find one with a GZE they go really really well!

The 'best' Ke70 Front Shocks Without Changing Struts?
LittleRedSpirit replied to Killswitch's topic in General Mechanical
The main reason people swap to the bigger OD struts is because they don't want dampers from those 4 places. Its worth the change. I know everyone does it but with good reason. I haven't heard of any other companies that do dampers for KE70s. Even if koni made some, the would probably be full length. At least if you change to XT130, AE86, or T18 struts you will have larger brakes too. -
Ke70 Knuckle Arms And Xt130 Struts?
LittleRedSpirit replied to LilSlvrRolla's topic in KExx Corolla Discussion
Can I remind you all that this is a mechanical section which is intended to help with technical information which people may need. Its not the For Sale Section, and Peddling is not allowed here. As far as your question goes, you will need the Corona XT130 Lower Control Arms and Steering arms (knuckle arms). They will bolt in to the strut of course, being XT130 items already, and XT130 Lower Control Arms are worth getting due to the increased Neg Camber they provide. They will bolt in. The Steering arms are hard to find because AE86 boys use them. For coilovers you can get your own struts chopped and welded to suit an AE86 shock, for a few hundred. Thats what I would do. I Cannot help with the Pug/Hilux brake setup. -
You might be the first Volvo driver Ive ever seen who can actually merge at the right speed, stop at the right time, and turn your head when changing lanes. High five!!!!!!

How Do I Upload Photo's On This Site
LittleRedSpirit replied to Marjanne's topic in Automotive Discussion
You need to open the image in Microsoft Office Picture Manager, or Photoshop, and edit it down. A 2.5MB image is suitble resolution fo printing photos, but for the web photos should be compressed much more. Aim for the largest viewable area as possible, while keeping it under 250k. I must say, sitting in the back of this car, bouncing through a paddock, with the whole crew in her, she was bloody smooth. Theres even some seat pockets to put the fire extinguishers in. Oh and the brakes, oh the brakes... Top tow vehicle!

2008 Rollaclub Dinner - For All Members !!
LittleRedSpirit replied to Teddy's topic in QLD / Brisbane
Yes Davros, Bring that thing! -
There is already a long and detailed discussion on a v8 corolla here somewhere. I suggest you search to find as much relevant info as you can, then ask some more specific questions to fill in what you can't work out. No-one can tell you what brakes to run if you describe your car only as a 'a corolla'. No-one will just type you a to do list of how to do a v8 rolla conversion. It ill require much custom work of course. Theres no manual for this one, lol. You could always use this thread as a place to collect all the info, links, photos and stuff you find, so that we can have some things to discuss. Welcome to Rollaclub!!

Heres where you can find abbreviated members rides with lots of pics: http://www.rollaclub.com/board/index.php?showtopic=4598 If I were you Id leave the engine mounts alone and mod the firewall since its legal, that would involve way less fabrication as you can use a standard tailshaft, gearbox mounts, engine mounts and crossmember. All bolts together very niceley. can't wait for pics, if you scale them down to under 250k you can post them in your thread as an attachment. :hmm:

Better take some pics of ol Boxie. Chasss Code Layout: http://www.rollaclub.com/board/index.php?a...st&id=12546 20 valves are much fun once you can work out how to do the ignition system without a distributor to clear the firewall. Its hard to retain a standard ecu unless you mod the firewall. Are firewall mods allowed in South Africa? If you didnt have to remove the dizzy cap it would be easy. can't comment on 16vs so much. Boost will always be fun. A gze with a turbo is very good from all accounts. What sort of motor is in her at the moment? Hang on, what is it exactly?

$1890 for a silvertop, I just bought one with most accesories for 800. Shop around mate. They had 4 others 4 weeks ago when I got mine.

You're one of the lucky ones. I saw a bloke who left his ke70 on the side of the road near Ipswich, fresh rebuild, nice wheels, and it was torched. Saw the charred remains getting picked up by a towtruck the next day. I have to say to all members, GET A TOWTRUCK, NEVER EVER LEAVE YOUR CAR ANYWHERE ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD UNATTENDED OVERNIGHT!! The way I see it, you will be up for a tow truck either way, best to get it right away, the towing money will be wasted if youre just scrapping the burned out car, which will still have to be removed by you. That sucks!! Make a want to buy add for the bits you need.

Looking fantastic. Chrome bumpers on the cards or strictly original?

Yeah. Last thing I remeber is whincing in pain from the OJ that stung the wound, and then woke up on the floor. I do remember hearing a big crash, but I have no visuals to go with it. Cracked a real quick cold sweat too. People thought I was having a seizure. Must have been well funny. Happened right in the heart of Toowong too. Ambos were called, checked me out, and I'm fine. Blood sugar was fine, heart rate is 64 at rest. Good blood pressure. No concussion. Oh well. The funny thing is I have smashed a laminated glass windscreen with the point of my jaw and didnt even begin to lose consciousness. Then I bite my tongue, taste blood, chilli and OJ in the wound and my mind switches off? WTF.. Way to go brain. lol. After all that my ticket wouldn't scan and I had to line up and get it reissued and missed the first 5 minutes of the game. At least the Broncos were on fire.

Pizza places which take 30 minutes to get your f@$kin pizza in the oven, when you have 40 minutes to get to the footbal!! f@$kin pricks. We chose pizza cause its a 15 minute thing to get it in front of you. Ate so fast I chomped on my tongue so hard I passed out, woke up 30 seconds later on the floor with a crowd of strangers freaking out and one very worried girlfriend. Then the f@$khead pizza place gives me a free garlic bread, I'm like, hello c**t I'm on the f@$king floor!! Thanks for making me eat so fast. Yes that happened to me last night. Got a sore chin from hitting my face on the pavement and all. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

Speedometer Problem After Upgrading To 5spd!! :(
LittleRedSpirit replied to rsdn's topic in KExx Corolla Discussion
You can still buy the plastic drive gears from Toyota over here in at least half the sizes they make. For T boxes anyhow. -
This car is awesome. Nice work mate. Tasteful.

can't Decine On Which Engine Sr20 Or Fj20
LittleRedSpirit replied to drift pig's topic in Automotive Discussion
Drifting = Many parts failures along the way. SR I reckon. Not my personal favorite engine, but a very impressive one power wise. Plenty of aftermarket support. Lots of tuning knowledge around. Not super expensive. Pretty easy decision I reckon. -
This is exciting. He will probably work all the hard stuff out and make it easy for one and all!!

Sooooooooooo jealous of your tidy workshop!!

They aren't forged, just a very high quality cast piston. How do you semi forge? You either do or you do not. Common misconception/assumption though. Unsure of coatings. I know 20v pistons are somewhat coated but unsure of gzes in this regard.

Thanks for sharing!! One of my favorite looking rollas ever. Did you paint it yourself? The interior is very tasteful!!!

Great to see you are doing it right. Looks great so far. Definately keep us posted. :D

Converting From Auto To Manual ? (legal Issues)
LittleRedSpirit replied to Doogs's topic in VIC / Melbourne
Just get an engineer to issue a blue plate. Costs roughly 80 dollars if you did a good job of it. In QLD anyhow. -
Honestly, $30 is a bargain for half an hour of a mechanics day. don't worry about the old 4k. Keep the fuel, oil, water and spark up to it and it will last a million miles, in any condition.
