So i'm not the only one with a blue fetish. :P So you can actually get push in style LED's nowadays? Hrmmmm. I spent hours soldering resistors onto my led's, and then soldering the led's into the globe holders. (but this was years ago, when i wasnt any wiser).

The paint and acrylic thinners i used, was made by "Concept Paints". Its Unicryl 3000 Acrylic Tinter. Concept Paints

This is the link you should have posted. Old School :P

None of them do much for me. The first pic gets a double thumbs down too. Why do people buy such crappy looking wheels? :P :rocknroll:

Yep, its happened to me with the standard aisan carb. I switched it off and saw the tacho needle falling from 8000rpm. Then with the twin SU's i didnt have the linkages adjusted properly. Some P plater tosser in a shitty old BMW was giving me the shits, so i slammed the loud pedal to the floor in 2nd gear and it actually moved the linkages and jammed the carbs wide open. My new tacho only goes to 8000rpm, and once i switched it off, I saw it falling from that figure too. Not fun either time. *EDIT Wow, this topic has gone from discussing the rear of the car.......right up to the front of the car.

This is only my personal opinion, but Drifting bores the crap out of me. I can't stand the culture of it. Not to mention all those but ugly, sticker clad rice burners. Anyone can chuck a car sideways, but not everyone can pump out consistantly perfect lap after lap on a race track. I would even put drifing on even terms with my views on Drag Racing. (excluding legal meets at Calder with road registered cars). For true entertainment and test of skill, Rallying is my pick. ARC drivers like Cody Crocker, Neal Bates, Simon Evans etc drive at 200km/h within meters of trees and poles. Now thats exciting viewable entertainment. :P

I got there about 2:15 and stayed till 4:30ish. I watched a bit of action at the course out the front (the train crossing and roundabout thingy). Then continued onto the airstrip. The Daytona was a classic - First he stuffed up the donut around the witches hats, and then like you said he backed it into the stopping area. The crowd didnt have much praise for the bloke (he seems to have a reputation of being a hack). :P I saw your wagon parked near the runway entry, but didnt see you test it out. What fuel was that lancer running? Some type of race fuel i'm imagining. (I talking about the one that was always on the track first, before the other one). The black Porsche was nice. The Nissan GTR'(s)? didnt do much for me.

I sprayed my car in Acrylic. Yes, you can get it to shine straight out of the gun. Simply spray the car as you would normally and heres the "Tip" Finish it off with 2 quick coats of a really thin mix of paint and thinners (careful not to get runs here). A trick is to dip a metal ruler into your pot - Pull it out and count to 4 seconds. The paint should just start dripping (not running off the ruler like it did for the first 4 seconds). If its still running/dribbling after 4 seconds, then thin your mix out more.*This is the perfect mix for spraying the initial coats* The thin mix should be about 2 seconds. The most important tip to getting a good shine is to use GOOD quality thinners. If you decide to use Acrylic, then buy a good brand Acrylic Thinner. GP or Multi Purpose wont give as good a finish. (i forget what brand of paint mine was - but i'll check in the shed tomorrow). Gravity feed guns are also a lot easier to use, and tune to get a nice fan. The compressor you use is also crucial. You need one that is able to keep up with the CFM your gun is capable of putting out. After all, you don't want to get halfway through a panel and not have sufficient pressure to get a nice spray pattern from the gun. Spray it in a shed, with a pedestal fan on to direct any over overspray/mist out an open door. "Buy a good quality respirator". My first paint job i did in a shed without a respirator. I had headaches, nausia and was shivering constantly for 2 days. After a few weeks when the paint is fully hardened (usually wont take that long - but its a peace of mind thing for me) rub it back with 1800 and 2000 grit wet and dry to remove any orange peel. Then using a foam pad on an electric buff, cut it back with 2-pac superfine cutters. Make sure the pad is moist and spray water on your panels to make sure you don't heat up the foam pad (if you don't, it can burn the paint and your foam pad will break up faster). Then 2 coats of polish. :P But remember, Its all in the preperation. Spraying $300 worth of paint/thinners over shitty prep work will only be a waste of your time and money. don't bother with a clear cloat, unless you decide on a metallic paint. Most auto paint shops will tell you this anyway.

I just got back from this event and have a few pics to share. Unfortunately they are not high quality, and generally the cars didnt take my fancy. Hence, not many pics.

On the news here in Melb today, it stated that fuel prices are set to hit $1.30 next week for unleaded.........Bp Ultimate is another 7c or more on top of that. It just cost my $48 to fill up my KE30 with stock standard BP Unleaded. I think that if the Government continues to add tax on fuel at these prices, then they should cut the tax on our wages to compensate. But, i know it wont happen. In 1983 it was just 6.2 cents a litre, and by February 2001 it had risen to 39.2 cents a litre in Victoria. In 2005 - If the fuel was $1.10/L, then we would be paying $19.11 in "TAX" for $40 of fuel. Thats almost half in TAX.

Ke70 Suspension Upgrade... Anyone Done This?
kangaroosa replied to rjenman's topic in General Mechanical
Excuse my incompetence, but are you saying that your using those strut inserts and shockers as a short stroke alternative to a standard corolla setup? If so, are they just bolt up items (no major modifications)? I've just starting researching short stroke shocker alternatives for my KE30. As I am yet to find someone that makes such an item. -
Its actually the negative side of the coil. If its got an electronic ignition or early Bosch distributor and your getting needle flicker/bounce and false readings, you may have to purchase a 20K Linear Potentiometer (Dick Smith Part No. R6807 and stamped B20K. $2.50). Then fit it inline in the Green signal wire. Use a tune up/diagnostics machine to get a master RPM reading, and then adjust the Potentiometer until your tacho gives a true reading. (this is what speco reccommends anyway)

So just for clarification, there are some events before 1pm? In regards to the road rally part of the day.....is it viewable by spectators? You said there are events in the morning, but your original post stated it starts at 1pm. Just wondering if there are events in the morning that arent open to the public? Thats all.

OTIGER is still available. The one you saw must be spelled differently. I would also assume that any potty mouth plates would also be scrubbed from the available plates database/list. An old mate has an XY GT with the plates ATUFGT. When he first showed me, i mistook it for AT U FGT. You reckon he was pissed. For the people other than me that don't understand..... its meant to read "A TUF GT" For all the turbo ricers out there - "Pschhh" is still available.

I Have A Craving For Maggi Chicken Noodles
kangaroosa replied to Super Jamie's topic in Rollaclub Social (Off-Topic)
A bloke a work with actually drinks Bourbon and Diet Pepsi and/or Diet Coke. Its either because of the no caffeine or no sugar factor. Either way, ewww. -
None of my prefered plates are available (theres a surprise). I wonder how long all the VL Commodore drivers have been sitting at their computers trying to reorganise the letters "BT1" and "EXCOP" "CHASE" to try and get an original combo.

Colin - Are you driving on Saturday? Whats the best day to view the action - or is it the same courses on both days?
