  1. AFAIK it should. i pulled a 5k out of a ke35 to put into a ke20. it was a perfect fit in both. (by perfect, i mean, there was about 5mm clearance between the crank pulley and swaybar) dF
  2. yes, that's the aircon compressor. it shouldn't matter that there's no belts on it, if they ask, just say you took it off for winter :sob: i got a rwc on my ke20 with no belt on the aircon. HTH dF
  3. have run it by katie, she's keen for it. date will be melbourne cup weekend, satday 1st thru to tuesday 4th november. 4 day weekend FTW! gives us plenty of time to drive there saturday, spend a good 2 days out and about and catching up, then cruisy drive back home on the tuesday. will be good to see the "kte257" regardless of how sorry it's looking then :sob: dF
  4. just ask all those that've been defected for being too low over there in SA....i'm know there's a few of you :sob: hehe
  5. cheers dave.... as it turns out, the fix was MUCH simpler than first thought. while everything else will still be happening (box swap, tailshaft fixed, stereo install, tacho cluster) it's going to happen over a few weeks, not immediately like first thought. i went over everything b/w gearbox and diff, all was as it should be. couldn't find anything out of the ordinary, so i decided to rule out what it wasn't instead of finding what it was. i popped the bonnet open and the first thing i saw was my aircleaner had separated. the nut had come off, the lid was wedged between the fan and radiator, and the filter was resting on the swaybar/x-member. the tin-clanging noise i was hearing on sunday was the lid rattling against the strut brace. when i took off yesterday morning, as i was on a huge downward slope, the lid has jumped off, the filter has also and they both went and hit the fan, giving me my big angry noises. so i put the filter and lid on the side of the road, started the car, drove a few metres forward and back, no new noises, no tincan rattle. i put the cleaner back together and drove it round the block and into the driveway. over-thinking what could be the problem really isn't worth it. altho, now that i know nothings wrong, i feel like i've just saved $100-$200 on repairs :sob: dF
  6. spotted many ke/ae's out at dave's place on sunday. i really like them trying to grow themselves  saw a red ke36 around the resevoir area around dusk on sunday. many other random ke70's on the road, they don't get my attn anymore.... also drove past my ke20 twice this morning, it's currently sulking on the main road due to gearbox/tailshaft woes
  7. yesterday was as changing as the weather is in melbourne.....up and down and sideways all bloody day. went out to visit dave (te278u), spent a few hours admiring the collection that seems to be growing (in more ways than one). left my tools at home, so couldn't really do much of anything  organised to check out a set of rims from someone. inquired about a second set from another dude, but they were 'in storage' so didn't get to see those  spent 30 mins or so playing around with the rims i was looking at, fitment on the front is a bit close (tire to strut) and they stick out a *smidge* which would/could be fixed by running a smaller tyre on the fronts. upon leaving, there was a lovely tin can clang happening under the car. first thought was a hubcap came loose and the trim ring was rattling. so i pulled over to check the hubbies, they were all fine. i jumped in, selected reversed and it went clanging again as i started to move. out i get again, and have a quick play with the tailshaft. sure enough, the rear seal on the box has flogged itself out (due to my front uni being a bit sticky) so the dust covers of the box and yolk are hitting each other. i managed to get home (after doing about 200kms yesterday) and thought it should be right for a few days of train station service, but alas twas not the case. i've left it 50 meters from home with the club lock on. will be pushing it home tonite where it will be layed up for a couple of weeks while i tend to swapping extension housings from the ke70 5spd box i have, as well as more tacho cluster play and the tailshaft being fixed by a professional. i've organised to have some "sik toons" installed next weekend: head unit, 6 1/2" speakers, 12" sub and amp...which i might need to shelve due to the current situation. i'll give more details friday morning once i've had a few days to assess the situation calmly and clearly. cheers dF
  8. mick, there's a random blocking the 'special girl'....i hope you told her to get nicked and she's ruining the shot  haha nice to see you getting the lady out and about. i'm thinking of coming for a mid-november weekend, maybe get some pics of my ugly duck and your beautiful swan dF
  9. if you're doing the swap for r/p, go the whole 9 yards and find a group N starlet for the conversion ;)
  10. would you look at that, a reply (with pics) the next day... hehe i'll start with the most pretentious of the lot. this pompous fellow drove past work yesterday, it wasn't raining and he had the roof up??! here's a pic of (most of) the 2 clusters when in pieces. this is what i was starting with this is what was removed this is how i finished the day, it's in, but needs the housing to be modified for a betterer fit and while i was playing delicate, nobbler was keeping himself busy... and a semi close-up of the ferrari engine to finish. thank you, and good-day! dF
  11. i did some bastardising over the weekend... pics to come (at some stage)
  12. yes. exactly. :eatlead:
  13. a 4spd shifter won't without some mods
  14. yes.
  15. australia day long weekend...the same as the last two.
  16. i helped a mate replace his shocks over the weekend. the top of his shocks had flat sides on them that would locate into the strut top. by getting it to locate, and applying pressure so the spring wouldn't force it out, this stopped the shock from rotating inside the strut both when removing and installing the shocks.
  17. AFAIK vic still has this option. altho, i recall it only being 6 months....
  18. i guess this is the stock that Teddy acquired when he took over the stickers.
  19. you just got lucky with your timing pieman... altho, i now have to swap clusters again as i need to find why the dash lights aren't working
  20. i still had half a tank at that stage. i filled it up this morning, and the needle didn't rise much past half way. not that i need the fuel gauge anymore, as i have a travel odometer now :)
  21. in toyota's infinite wisdom, its plug and play. no extra wires were needed. and johno, the 2 1/2" is still on my column shroud, wasn't really in the mood to take it and it's wires out yesterday. it will be swapped for my overrated shroud sometime tho.
  22. had some time to kill today, so thought i'd install a tacho cluster :) all the gauges work! as well as all the switches. will check the globes later tonite. Cluster In Cluster at idle Cluster at 3k
  23. Here's a general shot looking where the cluster should be
  24. last friday my mate brought his tools around and measured me up for a carbon fibre front strut brace. saw it for the first time this morning sans clearcoat and epoxy. will hopefully have it in a week or two. i'll get pics of it when i'm around there this weekend. the thing is light as buggery....330ish grams currently, will be less than 450g when finished. he's made this one with the least material he's prepared to put into it. this is the 2nd one he's made, the first being a rear strut brace for his ae82 twincam. his one weighs around 680g. anyway, i'll stop talking now until i have pics for you all cheers dF
  25. rego sticker??? people at the traffic dept?? weight-bridge??
