well Peter, has any work been done on the camping arrangements?? as we all don't care about driving and touristy stuff, just where we're sleeping and drinking!@!
-
you think so Ted??? the only thing you can see (with the bonnet shut) is a new exhaust, rear wheels and headunit. oh, and the thick dust layer that's making it look very orange-y. i'll put some pics up of "Peter's Lip Service" haha, sounds soooo gay. :y:

...and bolting a turbo onto an engine that was never turbo'd from factory will mean you won't ever have to go thru regency???
-
dave, altho there's not much clearance for getting a bolt in. there's also no room to get at the bolt the way you're talking about. there's maybe an inch of space between the manifold and the runner for the bolt to go, with side access being the only way to get at it (this is for one, maybe 2 of the bolts) not only that, but it's the one closest to the firewall, so you don't have much room to use a long spanner, hence why people cut down an el-cheapo open end spanner.

if thenobbler sees this, he should be able to tell you how possible, and how much work is needed to fit a 16v head to a 20v block. his old twincam was running this setup.

i have updates... stuff has been picked up, stuff has arrived, stuff has been stored, stuff has been taken out, stuff has been put on, stuff has been ordered, stuff has to be ordered, stuff has been paid for, stuff has to be collected, stuff has to be beaten, stuff has to be cleaned, stuff has to be fixed, stuff has to be put together, stuff has to work, stuff has to be swapped. all of which directly applies to the ke20. now, the list of 'stuff' wheels (only installed in the rear) springs (coming - thanks Jono) ke30-55 project (need to get running before i do anything else) tyres (smaller ones to be fitted to front wheels) blocks (are pulled - for now anyway) guards (possible lipping) gearbox (still needs to be swapped) tailshaft (to be fixed when box happens) radiator (to be installed - most likely when box is swapped) other tacho cluster (haven't done anything to it since last pics) twins and extractors (sometime whenever i get them matched) pics possibly later today... dF

most people go the otherway, and put corona suspension into corollas. because the 'rona is a larger and heavier car, it's suspension is larger than that of a corolla's. just call peddlers or someone and get them to put new stuff in.

if you're driving a ke15 as a daily, every day is a happy day!

what??? no bench-racing on the bench-seat??? i'm out then  i'd love to get out and cruise, but i think my 20 is in need of a pull-down :D

i'll be aiming to get there around 6.45, we'll see what time the trams are running.

cheers taz, yet another set of numbers i'll need to adjust in my head.

there's only one way....an open ended spanner. make yourself a custom one by shortening it so you can get a fair bit of arc on it and use something to help you get some force behind it. (i hope that made sense) dF

amen to that. had to top up my gearbox last weekend, had it in 5th when i took the leaver out. spent 5 mins playing around with the selector before getting it back into neutral. being a k box, it'll be 1.9L for a 4spd and 2.2L for a 5spd. going thru the gear lever is easiest for filling, but can be a bit annoying unscrewing and screwing things together inside the cabin.

AFAIK, all the auto chassis' have bigger trans tunnels.

thenobbler and myself are looking at going this month, hopefully some more can come outta the woodwork.

3 tanks of fuel (for a rolla at most, 8 if you're planning on bringing a boat :)) around $200 for 3 40L tanks at country prices. camping wasn't much, including one morning's brekkie, less than $100 for the two nights whatever food you decide to eat for the weekend, including snacks and main meals, maybe $100 - $150 total = $450 MAXX i'd budget for that, but realistically, it'll probably be closer to $350

is a test fit possible? if not of those, of someone else with 17x7's that you can see how they fit to work out the offset needed.

what a bloody weekend that was. i'll start by saying that i've had a nasty cough for 2 weeks now..... with the car still not really fit for much else other than short trips, i decided i'd go for a short drive to warrnambool and play AFL with the Finnish team that's here for the AFL International Cup. 3hrs drive (going the inland route) around midday on sunday, was fine for the first hour, then all hell broke loose. it was the theme for the weekend, mighty cold and lots of rain! was raining for the last 2 hrs of my driving, some spots was bloody fierce, had to slow from 110 down to 50 cos you just couldn't see a damn thing. got there all right in the end. met all the blokes soon after arriving in warrnambool. went out for dinner, had me some kangaroo (which they overcooked, it shouldn't be cooked past medium-rare) slept ok-ish, only took me an hour of coughing to fall asleep. took the bus with the team to the local college for the game against their main rivals, Sweden. game started at 11am, was about 12 degrees, wind blowing across the ground at around 20km/h, and raining every 10 mins or so, varying between light and hard. had an alright game (considering i've only played 2 games of AFL in my life, both with i was 10 years old) missed a shot early on (which was their first score for the tournament) took a screamer in the last quarter and kicked a goal, set up another just after that. we outscored them in the last quarter, but lost 6.7 43 to 2.2 14. had my calves worked after the game, on cos they cramped up something severe in the 3rd quarter (spent some time vomiting in the back line shortly after the cramps hit...) watched south africa beat the usa convincingly, which is always good seeing them lose no matter what it is. left warrnambool at about 3:30pm, drove in perfect sunshine to port campbell, then as expected, the rains came down again! it cleared for the hill climb just after passing the 12 apostles, but came back with a vengence! pently of hail, strong winds, low clouds, spray from passing cars. only got stuck once behind a dickweed in an old semi that refused to pull over in any of the 3 turnout spots before he turned to colac instead of following the GOR. got to apollo bay in around 2 1/2 hrs, put enough fuel in to get me back home, cos it was $1.629 a litre for base fuel, and headed inland up the skenes creek (deathtrap) road. 80km/h main speed limit, some stretches it's 100km/h, most tight corners are posted between 40-65, had a few that weren't posted at all, which i thought were safe to do 80 round... oh no, they needed to be taken at 40, but of course i was way too hot for, came close to heading down the embankment. one secion of road was freshly laid, the rest had ruts and holes, no guard rails for most of the way...i still couldn't believe that it was recommended as 100km/h for any of the stretch, i only managed to hit 100 twice! go home in the end, went to take a bath and there's no plugs anywhere that fit the drain, so i wasted half the hot water already and hadn't even started my shower. sorry for this being so disjointed, i have crap abilities at keeping things coherent. (like you don't already know reading this bloody thread) things i learnt this sunday/monday weekend: the ke20 entices rain, speed limits lie, finns can't play afl, kangaroo shouldn't be cooked past medium-rare and any corolla can drive any distance as long as it makes it out of the driveway! cheers dF
-
generally i won't, because all the roads i use have designated 'fast' and 'slow' lanes. everyday they don't change. each stretch of road, whether it be 2, 3 or 4 lanes, each bit has it's own 'fast' and 'slow' lanes. if i see a possible road block or potential hazard, i'll lane hop to avoid it, but that's just common sense driving...
-
yeah, i know you SA people want to drive it...but will it be much fun when you've gotta drive 6hrs to get to the start of it?? this way, everyone will be "refreshed" for a full day of driving along the wonderful roads.

http://www.rollaclub.com/board/index.php?s...st&p=270179 *selfless plug for myself* i heard rumours that the folk over here want to drive the GOR, so please, check the post and offer info/tips/praise :no2: dF

At Peter's request, i'm going to post my thoughts on GOR-III. Location for the 2 nights: Port Fairy Website for Port Fairy it has beaches!!! nfi how good they are, but there looks to be freindly and accessable sand and water meet points. there are about 10 accomdation places on the site above, so hopefully nobbler can find one that will accept us *hint*hint* start calling *hint*hint* it's 20 mins from Warnambool, and another 10 to Allansford (where the GOR ends/starts) SA Readers Take Note sunday would be great for a trip back down the GOR (or a trip up it for those from SA) to Apollo Bay or Lorne. (2hrs to AB and another 30mins to L) taking from SS's run, once reaching AB, head inland thru skenes creek and either up to colac and back to base via the highway, or cut west between the GOR and the highway for some (what look to be) winding country roads. that trip should take us about 5 hrs not including stops. these can be determined later (as i'm really supposed to be working now, not researching for a holiday cruise :no2: ) brain fade has kicked in, i'm more than happy to research stuff for the trip if others put suggestions forward. **all times and distances come from whereis**

there is no adjust on the pedal, just on the clutch cable itself where it goes thru the firewall. adjust the clip as taz mentioned ^^^
