of course you can build your own...you just gotta look hard enough for the parts, then sell your childrens' children for them :D

paint job....that's quite laughable. washing it happens all to rarely as it is! i'm more the sorta guy who gets it going and that's good enough. maybe give it a quick clean with degreaser, but hell, if it takes longer than 2 mins and won't help the car drive, it's not worth it IMHO. cluster work will begin on thursday night. taking it into work tomorrow and having a bit of a fiddle with the dash fascia and lenses. thursday also happens to be the day i am (hopefully) spraying my front end bits and possibly bolt them on too, otherwise it'll be pushed back to satday/sunday before its all together again :D VicRoads will be happening on a random day that i'm able to take the morning off work. which will be dependent on both how busy the previous day is and if vicroads have an opening for me. i've got about 3 different offices i can take it to, so i should be able to swing it on the first chance i get.

i'm kinda thinking of lending the plates to stu for when he gets his 5K-ZE going, so that there's the obligatory "blowing" reference! and yes, it's VERY orange when it's dirty and with artificial light :P cooling issues are my hoses are larger 14mm than the outlets 12mm i'm sure i've got some spare 12mm hoses lying around in one of the 3 garages i'm using currently :S

well, the twins were ditched today, in favour of something that doesn't leak (well, my exhaust leaks but that's not the topic here) a 32/36 weber is attached, and will be for a fair while. hooked up all the necessities to take it for a strap round the block. aside from what is needed to have a running engine, the extras were a cooling system and the headlights. cooling system will need to be modified a bit, as the hoses are an incorrect size to attach to the water pump. might just wait for my new radiator to arrive before final pics are posted. as well as putting all the plastic/metal bits on the front and putting the dash together again. lowering blocks will be thrown in and the 12" stockies with hubcaps will also be going on, so i can get the rear guards fixed to combat my rubbing issue. a whole lotta useless drivel you just read, but will be nice to drive it again properly so other work can be done. a certain members ke26 needs some major McLovin.... cheers dF

Raven's Ke25 Corolla Memorial Rebuild - Now Parting Out
dfunkt replied to Raven's topic in Rollaclub Rides
after seeing some disgustingly awesome colors recently, i'll be very disappointed if this is anything but a corolla factory color. -
i know this weekend wasn't a one man show....but all the car's i've had in my carport i've done 90% of the work on my own. on maybe 2 occasions when pulling out/putting in an engine i had help. i'll be coming round satday morning again to get helicoil kit for headstuds. i might have time satday arvo for installation, will see how cleaning the front deck and carport goes. it will be at least 1 heaped trailer, possibly 2 if i have some of dad's crap too. and as for the Fridge, i'll be there, just pick me up on your way. EDIT: on second thoughts, i'll just grabthe helicoil kit satday and spend the rest of it cleaning...sunday after the fridge i'll come back and spend time on car. less hassles me thinks (read less complaints from the partner) :P

the reason that looks good is becuase the rest of the car is so bloody clean.

use the search function up the top ^^^ search for "KE70" in the "Rides and Projects" section only.

i honestly cannot believe this thread has stayed on track.....i guess i should try and rectify this. they kinda made a DOHC head for a K engine, if you ask the right questions to the right people, i'm sure you could get ALL the technical data outta them and then just build your own moulds so that you can mass produce them and sell them for MEGA $$$$$$ (it might help to learn some Japanese tho) alternatively, you can pull your current head off, make a template and carry it around a wreckers looking for another DOHC head that matches closely enough, and just fudge the bits that don't line up properly so that you can bolt it on and go do some sick skids. you could always design your own DOHC K head and have it built out of Billet or Alloy, with access to a CNC machine (4 axis maybe) no conclusions.... dF PS taz_rx knows best here is your answer

one man show all the way.... i've done a few recently with mates that don't show up until i'm finished the bolting/wiring up. all those gathered around my car were all there for the piss and only really made the engine look "pretty" and diagnostics. as you can see, there was one humping me, one trying to pull me out from under the car, the humping one dancing in the bay.

Fraggles (twentyeight's partner) has a 5k behind her toyoglide. but then, legally the 4k is the only 'free' upgrade

how will the rear brace mount....it's a leaf sprung rear end? or have i missed you putting in rear shocks/springs??
-
Time? Suburb? Tools?
-
i got my T3 strut brace in last week. i had to put the 2 strut mounts as far from each other as posslble. i put the whole unit together, wound it as short as possible, as then once it was in wound about 5 turns into the bar and she's apples.

raven, you need to let go of the fact no-one wants to buy a '25 :( as for a wagon, you'd almost be better bringing one across with you, as they're a touch hard to get hold of.

all states have a wide variety of KE's...some states seem to specialise in a different series, be it the ke1x/2x/3x/5x/7x choosing one city over another will come down to personal choice really. i imagine all the jobs are around the same $ amount. living expenses (rent, foor, travel, distances) vary a fair bit just in each state, not to mention across states. i'll put more detail in later when i have some more time.. dF

i can confirm that this was never owned by you. it was bought new by a lady out in the Lilydale area, who then passed it onto her grand-daughter after ~25 years. she drove it for a year, then sold it onto a young couple from Ferntree Gully. They owned it for eight years, but had to get rid of it due to having 2 kids (they were 1.5 and 4yrs old when i bought the car) and this was the one driven most by the wife. one baby capsule and one toddler seat aren't fun to use in a two door car.
