The wrecker price

My Sister (the blood blister) came around a few weeks ago to service the civic. The car's pushing 36 years old and she's no car buff, so I mentioned that it might be time to start looking for a newer daily. As I've got the 'rolla bug, I was thinking AE92 with auto, air and power. The budget was as cheap as possible, so planned to grab a nice one and fix 'er up. Last week I spied a ae82 with super low ks that had been sitting in a paddock. The same day I went to look at it one of the girls at work approached me and asked; what should she do with her N13 Pulsar? I listed the usual, carpoint, evil bay etc, and she said she wasn't interested. She just wanted it gone. I said you can drive it down to the wreckers and you might get 200 bucks. Then I thought, shit, I can probably get more than that if I part it, so I said I'll grab it. Went and looked at the ae82 and it was a POS! So I thought, I'll check this pulsar to see if it's worth fixing. I asked a few questions and she mentioned the bad. heater core by-passed 6 months ago and head lining hanging down. Not major, it may be worth it. Over the weekend, went to the wreckers and got a good headlining and "practised" removing a dash, while grabbing a heater core. Picked up the pulsar tonight and was stunned. She has owned it since new. Payed 26k in 1990. Pulsar Q hatch with auto, air, steer, electric mirrors and 1.8 engine. (yes the camira one) Interior overrated. Needs a wash. Full service history since new. In 2009 spent over 2 grand on CV's, cam belt, water pump, exhaust, pwr steer pump and dizzy. Been completely book serviced. At a dealer until 06 and same mechanic 'til 09. 229,000 ks. 2 months reg. I got home in the dark, so no photos tonight. I'll update soon. Boo

Haven't looked under the bonnet but there is a 280c wagon at centre road. They obviously had a brain fade 'cause it's in the Toyota section. I take a peak on the next visit. Boo

Fact is Japanese love to shorten and change language. Ours, thiers and anyone elses. Example Japanese say "YonKu" for a 4WD. How? the Japanese word is Yonrinkudou. Breakdown- Yon = 4 rin = wheel kudou = drive (this is a very formal word) Now instead of saying that big arse word, yonku just rolls off the tounge. So much so, it's part of normal conversation. A bit like Aussie slang. Ever play GranTurismo? Street racing in Tokyo on the 246. It's not two hundred and forty six it's the "ni yon roku"

Anyone seen this? http://theage.drive.com.au/motor-news/toyo...0810-11vxl.html

Thanks RO 81, It's the reason I bought it. Very 70's and unknown. It isn't very special, just a 2 door wagon/liftback or as I like to think a HUMPBACK! I've seen one other kicking around in my suburb. Now I challenge you! If you see one, let me know, 'cause body parts are a bitch. Mechanics are straight ke30/55. Boo

Nice. I've used bi carb to get rid of smells in fridges before. i completely forgot. I'll try that next. I am hoping when it gets above 10 degrees, I can roll the the windows down and some warmth can bake it out. i'm jealous of your weather!!

Well, like a lot of other Victorians, I spent the day getting the humpback ready for the Arthurs seat cruise. Ever since I got it on the road it's had a "strange" idle. Up down and all over the shop. Also lacked acceleration, for a 4k  First highway trip caused it to idle at 1500 rpm. Around town it was anywhere between 800 - 1500 rpm. Every traffic light was different. and fuel economy was shit. I consulted the bamboo memory banks and thought...Vac advance. I popped off the dizzy cap, got a length of vac hose, connected it to the advance, sucked and low and behold, advance wasn't moving. This was the original denso dizzy that came with the car. I checked the Bosch dizzy that came with the 4k (thanks Dave) and it was good. Quick swap, adjust the tappets and it's a new car. I now have unleashed at least one more horse! Time to save the pennies and get an electronic dizzy. Will endeavour to make it look stock and fit a single pipe vac advance. Looking forward to tomorrow. Boo

or try http://cgi.ebay.com.au/NEW-130AMP-MIG-GASL...#ht_3750wt_1137 I have used it for body repairs....lets just say it was tricky. For exhausts, it is perfect. Have done a heap of exhaust mods.

Rusty Relics - Post Old And Abandoned Rollas Here

Internet research on the number plates suggests MALAYSIA. Time to book our 100 buck airasia flights! Maybe the next adventure in the Bamboo calendar! -
I've been to their factory. They got EVERYTHING. They aren't the cheapest, but they aren't made in china. When it's something you sit on, you appreciate quality! Bamboo http://www.seatcoverworld.com.au/

Yeah, but the engine/5speed was ripped out before it made it to the yard. The gear knob was lying on the floor next to the console. Still had the 5speed plate in it. looks awesome in the humpback. The tacho had already been ripped when I saw it. I am innocent. Well, I didn't actually pay for the knob..... As you say, it was for a good cause.

Did that wagon tailgate happen to be blue? I saw that there. CLEAN. 126k on the clock. The gear knob now adorns the humpback. And the threaded tripmeter reset knob!! Can't wait to see it on Sunday

Yes please. I'll bring the cash. boo

I have decided to use this as a mobile shed for the moment. Inside it has: 4 landcruiser split rims with tyres 4 corona rims and tyres 5 'rolla rims 4 suzuki sierra rims 2 hardtop door windows 2 13 inch tyres without rims grill starter alternator shockers heater fan on the roof is a landcruiser rack with a couple of wheels And some random stuff from the side of the house. Believe it or not, it now makes the dead side of the house look tidy. And I can move my junk around! Just got to get around to posting my junk on evil bay!

My current key ring is a Brighton Toyota one I scored. Yes it's modern, but hey. Sorry for the crap quality. It has the slogan "above and beyond"

My stuff isn't as good as Bens, but like you both, I love this stuff. The window sticker is from my humpback but it's f@$ked. I lean towards pitstop as an ex employee. I noticed in the dealer location book yarra valley is in there. That's your end of town Parrot. You never know. I also saw Motor Court in Mornington in the book. Including country dealers there are 6 pages of Victorian dealers.

Does your boot leak? I'm guessing it can get a little damp. You may want to try and at least buy it dinner first!

I sold my brother my 35 today. He asked that exact question. Asked about magnatec. My response...you'll kill it. Seals etc are just too old. GTX2 or Penrite HPR30. Old skool oil for an old skool car
