Other thing to consider is do you actually need the strength of this GB? An worked NA 4/5k will be fine with the K40/50, once you start talking about forced indcution K, some driveline upgrades are required (although still not essential). Also, do you realise the final price on this will probably be around $400-$450??

Yeah as far as I know the main difference with a dog box is the way you can point it at a gear, and then the gearbox pulls it into mesh. Sorta get it half way and it snaps in. This is why the driver needs to be experience, because if you accidently point it more towards 1st when you really want 3rd it'll pull itself into 1st and give you a "dog" of a gear change.

Putting a K-T50 in is going to more work not less..... Thats a K-T50 in the middle and K40 on the left. T50's are a much stronger gearbox yes, but also a bit bigger. Different clutch is also required, were as the K50 will go straight in with the clutch you have. :( Should I continue to bid on this one! just to find out who the school boys are!!

Unless you have a straight cut dog box!!

yeah I should have know better for leaving it in invers the night, no offence nick

Dropped the car off in Invermay last night to get the manifold done today....wasn't that a good idea! :bash:  Some f@$ker broke my driver side window,......they were obviously weren't very intelegent as it has no lock barrels in it, and they could have just unlocked it with thier finger!!! Luckily didn't take anything, doesn't have a stez, but I was worried about the guages, they're still there though. Wankers didn't know about the $500+ worth of turbos in the boot!!!!! :)

Yeah I'll give this guy a plug, His names Alexis bought a set of wheels off him a couple of years ago, nice guy and good to deal with. Was gunna recomend him myself befor I saw kangaroosa had already done it. :)

Funny you should ask, as I've only just done the s4/5 pad search like 2 weeks ago!! I priced some green stuff pads too at bursons, as they're also not a dealer they quoted me $270. I could also get Bendix ultimates for $109. After doing a little research, and asking a few people of there opinions of both I ended up going with the bendix. Reasons: The green stuff pads really do need to be warmed up a bit to work properly, and if your say cruising on a highway and need to stop suddenly you can find yourself with not quite as much brakes as you'd want! :bash: From most reports I got, the bendix's work fine! and not really too far behind a green stuff at temperature! So the conclusion I came to was that for what this car will be used for (my rx4), which is basically a comfortable 4 door cruiser that will have some sporting ability with the occasional strip or club day visit, that the Green stuff pad was not worth over 2.5 times of the bendix eqiv. Just my 2c. By the way, there are a few types of ECB compounds: Black - general Green - High performance street Yellow - Track only Red - Street/track Code is DB416 :)

Nah got it from a guy in NZ. Um, never heard of or seen a K-W55 bellhousing!! Can you give more info on what it came from? Not that I need a stronger GB! thanks Leigh, I'll be taking you up on that! :P Not a bad idea Tojo, but I don't have any scales. Put it this way, carrying them back up the stairs: K40 - grab the shifter and walk per normal, T50 - Still grab the shifter and waddle like you shit yourself with it between your legs, W50 - 2 handed affair with one hand on the shifter and one on the BH. The T50 and W50 are about $1000 worth combined. :n:

I wanna chop up a 36 or 38, just in a different way!
-
Really don't know yet. May just sell the T50. Other idea is to put the T50 in the turbs car and keep the indestructable W50 for the next project I wanna build - corolla+sierra! :P
-
Oh BTW, did you know there was a youtube vid about your car!!??..... :P j/k
-
Were's a pic of the other side of the car!!?? :P Worked out how to work my phone, Bluetooth is great! Not a bad quality pic for a phone either I think!

Hi Guys, Wouldn't be very often these 3 have been lined up together. Thought the pics may be handy for the FAQ or something! Left to right: K40, K-T & T50, K-W & W50. Stock ke55 tailshaft up the bum of the T50

If you were genuinely thinking about doing it, you'd be better off with a ke36 panel van than a ke30. :P Half the works done then!!

I paid a mechanic to do way back in the day before I knew anything about cars. Head was pretty warped and needed welding and facing. Was something stupid like $650 IIRC. :P
-
Last time I did one: Head plane - $44, Head gasket - $23 Did it myself, so no labour. + oil, coolant, goop etc. Under $100 anyway, but bare in my though you don't have to remove the block. Edit: BTW, even though you dug up an old thread its good to see somebody round here is prepared to do thier own searching, good on ya mate. :P

Just for the record mate, do you realise that if you work the 4k, then everything can be swapped over onto a 5k when you get one!! Ie, extractors, carby and inlet mani (pending port sizes), you can even swap cams between a 4k an 5k!! :D

Why does everybody on the "big island" think we're like next to antartica or something!? :) I bought a set of 15x8 once from adelaide, cost me $80 to get them here. :D

4 x 110. Found on ke1x-2x corolla's, Mazda's from R100/1200 through to s2 RX7 with the exception of the RX5 (4 x 120), and also some older peugeots. That's about it. I would inform you that I have some 13x7's I'd sell, but that would be peddling. ie, PM me. :D

Just like a real lawn!! You'd have to keep mowing it so it doesn't grow over the tat! :D

What Is Needed To Get My 32/36 Carby Running On My 4k???
Taz_Rx replied to DR1FT's topic in KExx Corolla Discussion
Been there, done that! :D Xmas day, bored, had a weber and a rolla. Me and my bro bodged her up. Too much piss + petrol fumes tuning = :( hahaha Yeah, that weber was running properly..... :D about 3 years later!!! :) Mate, I think what Medicine Man was illuding to is: If you can't work out what you need and how YOURSELF, maybe you shouldn't be trying to do it YOURSELF. If you don't want to pay a mechanic ask a friend with a bit more mechanical know-how/initiative to come round and inform/help you. Don't take offence cobba, cause by making these comments, we are actually trying to help. :lolcry:
