They're quad throttle bodies - so this one is a 4age.
-
haha yeah just change the E into a B! Josh - Good point..... but you're assuming a cop actually knows how to read a Toyota engine code! Actually on second thoughts, I don't know if the "B" would be correct. :hmm: I think the B is for twin downdraft only. 2TG's had factory side drafts but they weren't called a 2TG-B.

Thread was moved from the motorsport section where it was non-applicable.

I never paid it any though to noise before we headed out the first time. Sat half way up the track and as soon as the first super sedan (wasn't even supercharged) came past he had a sook about the noise. Car after that was a S/C rail so I made sure I covered his ears. Like Trev said just meant I had to pop my own eardrums instead! :laff: Luckily a mate had his 4 year old out that day who was leaving early, so they left the pictured earmuffs for us. Next time we went out we stopped into Bunnings for our own set. Those ones are adjustable and fit him pretty well. wpn - I figure I can use the excuse of teaching him to count..... when I ask him to hand me a 12/14/17mm spanner/socket!!

You'll need a MAP sensor.... its the sort of thing that shouldn't be bypassed. You can buy them pretty cheap off ebay etc in say 1, 2 or 3 Bar, bu the problem will probably be calibrating it for the stock ECU. Aftermarket ECU's allow you to calibrate the MAP sensor in the initial setup.

Yeah pics would help a lot. Although you've spend $3k on you probably be lucky to get 2/3 of that as a sale price.
-
Actually, just been thinking about it - The exchange bit might just give you some room to move with the mechinc/wreckers on the price. If you were supposed to pay $600 for a 5k exchanged, then tell them you'll pay $600 for the 4k, but they're not getting the busted 5k as an exchange motor for the stuff around. They'd probably only value the busted 5k at like $100, so they might just be happy to settle things this way! :hmm:
-
I just get a "You must log in to see this page." screen. Whats the video of? I can move it to an appropiate section for you.
-
Hang on.... was $600 an EXCHANGE price!!!??? If so thats even more ludicrous.
-
Thought so. I've never done a full, accurate tally on what Tar's EFI conversion cost me for the same reason. :lolcry: It was never about a budget build though, I learnt so much for doing it all.
-
Or just flat out tell him - "I'm not paying for a 4k. You said $600 for a 5k..... thats what I want, find one. If you can't find one for under $600 then thats your problem, you shouldn't have quoted me $600". Don't let them screw you, just remember the customer is always right.

Haven't watched vid.... but this is MOTORSPORT related how? and btw, believe it or not, not everybody uses Facebook. :rolls:
-
Don't ask about the engine in question. Just ask them something generic like "how much do you guys normally charge for a 4k?" They then might say something to effect of "hmm actually we sold one last week for $150" etc. Record the conversation if you can!!! Seen friends get in this position before. Yes you can not pay him.... but he can then keep your car until you do. Can turn into a vicious cycle.

My bro breaking a finger and a couple of ribs.... He's a bit accident prone.
-
$600 f@$k that man, that its just utterly rediculous!!!! I would be kicking up a major stink if I were you. And whats a bet your mechanic paid less for the 4k from the wreckers and is keeping the difference too!!! Just an idea - if its already mostly fitted, maybe you can give the mechanic a 4k (that you get here cheap) and then just pay him for labour!? Problem will be he'll say "what the hell am I supposed to do with the extra 4k!? I don't need it."
-
Hey have you still got that 3d V4? I just got the wolf program running on an old laptop with a serial port. Wouldn't mind borrowing that cable if you don't mind? Only problem now is the battery in the laptop is stuffed so if I want to do road tuning with it I'll have to install an inverter. :rolls: Not that it wouldn't be a handy thing to have in the car anyway.
-
So how much are you apying for the 4k? Regardless of what state you're in you should be able to get a 4k in the parts trader for between $0 & $100. Yes there is a bit of power difference.... and torque.
-
Because you don't know or don't want to remind yourself!?
-
I'd guess he's international Andy.

Or if you own a round file you could use S13 ones. Maybe try using the search function for further info! :hmm:

Went for a few drives over the weekend, he loves my car, get excited about getting into every time. Was wondering if it was a little loud for him.... obviously not as he fell asleep on one trip!! Ben (yoda) came over yesterday and motivated me enough to fix a couple of little annoying things. Driver window had come off it rail and one of the rear door handle was a bit sticky, all fixed now. ae824ate - If you're going to take your kid to willobank can I suggest dropping into Bunnings on your way and spending $10 on a set of these.... Thats his dj "wika wika" pose btw  Most of the cars are fine, but any supercharged funny/rail cars can be a bit loud for them. Our hard times are all over now (touch wood) luckily mate. Hope everything works out well for your daughter.
-
Try it with some tint offcuts instead of leccy tape.
-
Like he's got a choice being my kid! :laff: He'll be rebuilding 5k's by the time his 4!! :lolcry: Went for his first ride in Tar thismorning to daycare. Its only less than a km up the road from our house so we didn't really get a good ride, at least he's not affraid of the noise of it. Strapped him in and he had this "OMG, I'm going in Daddy's car  " look on his face.

So please go and start a a proper for sale thread. ....with a price!

Nah no speacial tool. About the hardest bit will just be getting the head bolts to initially loosen. You might need a breaker bar with an extension (jack handle etc) over it for a litle bit more leverage.
