Laces up a bit too easy sometime in the wet, even with the advans on.

Click "Tar" VVVV in my sig below. Just an idea.

Well a couple of other way to tell: Did you have to modify the sump or cross member to fit it in? Can you remember if it had an extra 3 bolts (that all other K's don't have) running along under the spark plugs between the head and block? They're not proper head bolts just for extra sealing around the oil galleries. ....or maybe it was just the rocker cover.

Well bugger me!...... :o http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toyota_Kijang Not only did these Kijang's come with a 7ke, but they were also released with 7kc, 5k and even a 3k in the first gen. Never heard of them before..... hence don't get excited about another source of engines as they were only released in asian countries.

Check out the vid title.... I shall go and investigate. BTW, was that song on the orginal Gran Tourismo? :hmm:

Hi Dave, Couple of nice wagons you've had there, I really like the look of the second one. Would be great to see the next one built up to the same quality. You say the second one had a 5k in it, but I just noticed that I think it was actually a 7k!!! Not that you'd really care now. All other K motor 2/3/4/5k all have a flat side on the driver side of the rocker cover, see how yours has that rounded bit under the oil cap - That would suggest its a 7k!!! Here's a pic of the 7k in my wagon - has the same lump....

Give it away accompanied by a statutory declaration stating how you came to have it in your possession, probably best to give away and not try and sell it. Maybe also just double check on an RTA website with the rego plate that its not actually listed as stolen. It that case no stat dec will get you out of trouble for offloading a stolen vehicle. Shame its a hiace not a KR42R townace otherwise I'd come up and grab it!....actually there's an idea - Take it a wreckers and see if they'll swap it for a complete 7ke and w56! :hmm:

Ke55 Front Brake And Diff Upgrades?
Taz_Rx replied to danny325's topic in Rollaclub Social (Off-Topic)
I suggest you type in "brake upgrade" & "diff upgrade" here..... http://www.rollaclub.com/board/index.php?app=core&module=search&search_in=core As I garentee you'll be able to find what you're after. -

I got my L's in a small Country town. We then moved to Hobart before I did my P's test though. Apparently the usual route for the driving test in the small country town involved driving the cop down to the local takeaway for lunch, and that was about it. :lolcry:

7kc manifold gaskets are the go if you've got small ports. There's a 3 layer metal gasket and re-usable.
-
Bout time! :P Good work though, goes really well. Last setup looked interesting with the 2x boxes with back ins.
-
Yeah I quite regularly use that technique for making gaskets. You just use the hammer to press the corner of the mounting face into the gasket paper to leave a small imprint. Cut out the imprint and bolt hole and away you go.

VN through VR/VS'ish commonwhore rad can be used pretty easy in a K powered rolla. Have a look in my "Tar" project thread for some pics.

Had a look here?.... http://www.3tcgarage.com/

Yeah waaaaaay to low. Most modified forced induction motors would only be as low as say 8:1

As others have said, early mazdas have 4x110. You can source a set of 13's or 14's from practically anything provided the offset is correct. Now, you're lucky I have discovered the following info for roadworthy purposes - If you want some 15" steel wheels in 4x110 there is one vehicle I've found that has then.... being one of the small mazda van/trucks with the dual 12" rears. The front wheels on these are actually 15"!!! So you'd have to source 2x pairs off 2x vans. I only found this info when trying to find 4x110 that would clear my brakes as my 17's won't be legal for a roady. Oh and while I think of it I'm actually about to borrow a SET off a guy I know. I could ask him if he want to sell them when I'm done with them if you want!? Would come tyreless.... as you're not getting my new semis. :P

For the join between the 2 halfs of the thermostat (easy as to find) or between the thermostat and the head - which is the one I'm talking about?
-
Fairo. I know I can one made locally, just thought it would be a bit more expensive than a group buy type option. Fuel pump & water pump gaskets can be bought cheap individually. Timing cover gaskets are only available in a "timing kit". They come with a front main seal and a few other smaller gaskets like a water pump one and a thermostat housing (To head) gasket. I did however once try and buy a one of those thermostat housing gaskets individually once (after seeing in the timing kit) and was told they don't exist. I can't really think of anything else I've never been able to buy. :hmm: Edit: actually there one - For the backing plate on a ke55/70 BW diff.
-
I've got one half completed for an install into Tar. Usual cut off spring mounts and weld on leaf ones. Tailshaft flange is different and the snout of the diff is a little longer so you'd need to shorten the shaft slightly. They'll also increase your track by around 10mm either side. Also Zenki LSD ready.

What sort of material you thinking of making them out of..... or any? The biggest problem with boosted K is burning out the manifold gasket between ex ports 2 & 3. If you've got small inlet ports then a 7kc would be perfect (you can't port these 3 layer gaskets btw), but if you've got bigport sized inlets then a permaseal EM30 is the best bet. I know Todd (Boost+K) had a bit of luck making his own copper manifold gaskets! If there was enough interest for these could you look at getting copper gaskets made?

diddo, first time I ever heard one it was rolling up to the burnout pad and noticed people around me putting their fingers in their ears... I thought "bunch of pussies!!".... it then did its burnout..... and I put MY fingers in my ears for the actual run. Oh how wrong I was!

Stud pattern looks a little small :hmm: You sure they're 4x114 not 4x100?

Just had a look on wiki..... but I know its not correct.... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Toyota_engines The B is listed as "Twin SU-style side-draft carburetors"..... which they're not! Its then said that a "D" indicated twin downdrafts..... so why is a 3K-B not known as a 3K-D!? Wiki fail!
