Also heavier. Also careful. My 5K harmonic balencer slightly sits out further than astock 4K one so now my KE15 original alternator wont line up and the water pump is just off AHAHA This causes belt wear fast so umm yeah they can be a pain. I'm looking into this still but so don't have any firm answers. Cameron

New boat the drug lords are using in south America have 2 LTS-101 in them 1400HP at the Prop MMMM thats a boat. I want one..lol 7shades you supply the money Ill build u the car :y: As we fix this engine at work I mean master piece. Only 3 yes 3 bearings on the main engine shaft (kinda like having 3 bearings on ur car crank) so impressive as the old Rolls royce one has 8 bearings. Cameron

Pending on country released KE70 came with 0.6 to 0.8 KW..so umm hard to say...lol Yes des you are correct :y: PRIMA Cameron P.S. To much to type ill scan pages I have of starter info

HAHAH Just read the thread. I happen to build small gas turbines (jet engines) out of turbo compressors. NOW I have seen a TV81 turbo hit revision (jet world term: surge) and the compressor STOPPED the front shaft nut came off like abullet (put hole in shed wall) and turbo was f@$kED. Well we rebalanced it and custom made some bearings and modified the combustion chamber so now it is like new but man trust me no BOV you will kill the turbo. EVEN commercial gas turbines on helicopters, A380 any large jet have a BOV (jet world term: compressor bleed valve) at low power it is open at high power they close due to air flow compressor maps can't explain here. BUT ALL I CAN SAY LISTEN you need a BOV. Cameron

HEHE I cover 2 of those categories..LOL A) I'm an aero engineer B) I'm that mildly sociopathic turbine specialist you speak about HAHAHA GOLD..lol I agree small LTS-101 turbine (Google it people) current Bees knees of small ass turbines till the new rolls Royce comes out mid this year (R300 OH I want one :y: ).. Any way LTS-101 smaller than a K motor think there the same weight and 700+HP output... Now that will make a corolla go. Also need bank account for this option..LOL Also don't think this thread has failed. LITERALLY I have a jet powered go kart I mean a jet engine in a corolla is a real dream you can achive. And none of us have been nasty like in past closed thread so nah as long as he can use the search function and FAQ hell be fine..lol Cameron

I have the specs if you all want? I can tell you now with out looking they are 1KW out put in power so will start rolla better. Starters come in: 0.6KW 0.8KW 1 KW (reduction drive type) Power output. And no load test draw 50~55amps.. Can dig up more info if you all need. Also as stated that starter of yours doesn't look like a reduction type. All 5K I have seen wreckers bough had standard types so some where along lines have been changed from gear reduction. Cheers Cameron

A few common acids and you can make a rocket to put on the roof racks at home And then install a GO BABY GO button :y:

HAHA you only deal with that much at work Jip..LOL Work in the aircraft industry |blink| Below $150,000 US worth of gas turbine parts sitting on my garage floor ;) This stuff makes great ash trays, lamps, clocks etc..lol

Does Someone Have A Spare - Or Could You Please Measure?
camerondownunder88 replied to AJC's topic in General Mechanical
Ill measure up my KE15 for you tomorrow. Cheers Cameron -
HI, I have done a few engine changes now in my car. I rock up to department of transport with car and go old motor died and a mechanic replaced it with anew one. I need to up date details they come out read number BANG mtoro was legal 5K in KE30. I also did a4K in ke30 paid rego soon as eftpos was accepted said OH i need to update engine number again used the motor dies story involving a Mechanic swapping it for me and wham easy as 2min later my car had a 4K in it legally. KE70 are easy to get a 5K in legally as the KE74 was stock with a 5K so anywhere you can do this no mod plates. You can also play with the fact KE55/30 got T series motors so I think with that book mentioned above 5K will bolt in legally. Also there is a power figure. a 3K-B puts out I think it was 4KW more than a 5K SO some states where they limit the motor to its power out put for the swap use this excuse and it will pass. Think that is in Vic they do that. Can be done easy. Mates gemini has a jacaroo motor bored and SC12 on it legal no mod plates due to "same family motor" so 5K if you present your self correctly be polite and don't hassle make car tidy clean and stock looking will get a 5K in no worries with no blue plate. Cheers Cameron

So he did spot the sex on wheel KE30 Also then spotted him after I picked up my 5K from the truck depot at his work car out the front looking very yellow. Cameron

I WANT THE sign on your garage wall... Cheap plutonium NICE... That is all Cameron -
When I get bored and it was wet the other day I poped out to my mates electro plating shop to do some fun shit. Pic below. But above I did multi colored spark plug tubes and gloss black water housings for K motor rolla so looks hot. But What isn't in the pictures I took my tool box from work. 3 draw fold top quite large unit there and CHROME dipped it ;) So I have a 100% gloss shiny chrome tool box at work. Beats the original GHEY snap on red that it was..lol Will get a picture of that laters :y: And this is me just getting a red spark plug tube out of the DIY anodizing setup I made at home...MMM FRESH HOT METAL PARTS :bash: Cameron

Water pumps are different. KE1X pumps have a shorter shaft due to radiator is closer. Now I have MANY K motor factory manuals from 2K,K,3K-h-b-c,4K,4k-C, 5K, 5K-C etc. It list ever spec and it even lists the difference in water pump. Pending on the model of K motor the flat boss the fan bolts to is pushed onto the shaft more or less pending motor and car. I can scan the page if you want to see it. And K motors with clutch fan have bigger boss on the pump also pressed on shaft at different depths according to motor. So this will explain the different water pumps. As I run a KE1X pump on my 5K in the KE15 with a 5K dual pulley harmonic ballencer and the pulley on the crank actually sits out futher so I should run a later pump to align it or pull the boss on the shaft out more. that the fan pulley bolts to. So there are a LOT of differences in K motor pumps. Cheers Cameron

if you use a KE30 or later exhaust side engine mount it will stand a K motor up in a KE1X as they are a bit bigger. So yes old school KE mounts different don't GO 4age.lol Cameron

HAHA I though this thread was also saying Hi to me..LOL Anyway I read a book once on designing piston motors etc few hundred pages long. It mentioned a motor that has its cam on the side of the motor (like a K motor) is termed a Hi cam motor. don't know how true it is but hey the book had it. And I just put it down to yes was the same motor so Toyota used the technical name for a old motor to help try to sell it that is it. Also KE70 4K cam shaft is 100% same as other 4K ones. Only K motors that get slightly different cams are K-B motors usually had different cams in sprinters and van motor versions. That is why when you run an electronic dizzy on a sedan cam it just isnt right. Get the dizzy re graphed and WHAM you get more power and that. Cameron

The living end use a KE70 panel van in there film clip to the song "all torn down" I think it was. Ill have to double check but there is one in that. Also saw a corolla other night KE55 on that channel 7 flash back thing driving down a street of Brisbane..lol Cameron

yes can use later ke70 valve guides ETC in a 3K head easy fit they fall straight in.

Starter Issues 5k Ke15
camerondownunder88 replied to camerondownunder88's topic in General Mechanical
HAAHAH no actually. Jumper leads are top quality think about 2 gauge wire weight about 2 tonne and definatly NOT super cheap items..lol Dad got them years ago when he was restoring the chevs. But I hooked the lead to the timing chain cover. I dare say it has a natural layer of oxidization (anodizing on it) that has formed this is non conductive so it just didn't work. But we all learn. Cheers Cameron -
Starter Issues 5k Ke15

Wind was blowing towards my house away from mic and exhaust is at back of the car. If you pop in one day trev you'll hear what I mean the video doesn't do it justice..SHITTY YOUTUBE. And I dare say it his V8 ford ute does sound nice in a horrible bogan way...lol Yes Raven you suggested it. I never ruled it out as 1969 wiring prob isn't in the top condition anymore. But I tried a "fake" earth with a jumper lead and no noticeable difference was made so I went looking else where. But I still made a new earth just in case and lucky me it worked ;) Cheers Cameron -
Starter Issues 5k Ke15
camerondownunder88 replied to camerondownunder88's topic in General Mechanical
Hi, Well as Trev spoiled the surprise on me yes it runs. I have been trying to get video of it youtube for you all to see then tell you. Well I got the video up: Quality is crap youtube didn't like my HD camera. But the neighbors you hear them chear after I turn it off. Later he asked what V8 is in that..LOL I said a stock 1.5L 4 banger..lol he looked shocked as he is a big V8 man and I think I scared him..lol Well I decided after trying to use a jumper lead for an earth just in case it was not quite also making a good contact I tried a big 4 gauge earth block to battery direct and sanded paint off block used that grease to improve electrical connection you name it. Now with the 470cca (that is how big the battery is) it swings the sprinters 5K like it has no spark plugs in it then BOOM into life it swings. In the short clip it cranked for a bit before it went due to I forgot to use the choke..LOL I have a short walk around at the start of the clip. The engine bay was a mess it is much cleaner now. I will update my ride thread with all this info soon. Also from the above posts I run the original KE15 backing plate on the motor. The original 5K one was different. Also I have run thick and thin backing plates on my KE30 with no problems. So there probably isn't to much of an issue there. So thanks for all the help fellas in this issue. Was great. Cheers Cameron
