  2. Im about to put an Ms on my e30. Ive played with Ms over the yrs on tbe rotary. They are very much enthusiasits toy. Very versitile but you gotta be a nerd to figure it out. But that's half the fun;) I was just looking at the haltech elite 550. $1295 Including a gineric wiring loom is pretty damn good.
  3. Just remember that even AFR can be misleading. For instance a misfire due to too much fuel will show up as lean.

  11. I've seen plenty of ke10 and ke20 shells recently. Find them in the can food section of coles. Recycling:(
  12. All the good oil cooler systems restrict the flow of oil to the cooler until it goes over a certain temp. Same as a thermostat in coolant system. Remember, cold oil is not happy oil.
  13. Megasquirt does the lot. Fully programmable engine management system. The trick is that its so flexible that you basicallt need to build your efi and spark system from scratch.
  14. Haha that would do it. You must have had it a tooth or two out for the exhaust to be red! It's amazing how retarded you can have the ign timing out and it still runs. Now you will know for next time:) My mate and I once spent hours trying to diagnose a non starting 4ac. Who knew the distributor could go in 180deg out? Bloody stupid thing. But guess what the first thing I check on a non starting engine is now:)
  15. Ive fogotten your brake setup.....what you running again? you got good pads in there? My brakes on the e30 cook quicker than i would have liked even with highish temp pads, well admitedly its the QFM pads. so perhaps i might need an upgrade...
  16. haha well i'm taking sponsorship for my m3 purchase. Maybe not so much the rusty shark thing... Completely moved into house now, workshop setup, car lives in the garage too. Let the projects begin.

  18. What on earth. You do realise that the choke flap creates a smaller opening in the carby, which speeds up the air as it goes past the venturi which sucks in more fuel and richens up the mixture? The chroke flap does increase the fuel, automatically, just like an efi system.

  22. The motor is often the cheapest part of a 4age conversion. The trouble these days is finding all of the ae71 bits you need to do the conversion in a ke70. T50gbox, pedal box, cross members, tailshaft to suit your chosen diff. Ae86drivingclub is the place to get all these bits. When I did my conversion like 6yrs ago I refreshed the top half of the engine and bought everything new that I could. Clutch, clutch master and slave cylinders, water pump, gaskets, seals. A custom made proper exhaust. In the end it was almost $3k but it gave great service for yrs. Do it once do it properly. Also I've seen multiple ae92 sx or csx cars for sale for like 600bucks lately. 1000bucks for just the engine is a bit steap I think. Small port 4age is a great choice but you do need to deal with the intake manifold. Cut and shut is the easiest but it's cast aluminium so not the easiest to weld. Nothing a good welder cant do though. A 4age ke70 is very fun. I miss mine:/

  24. That looks really cool. How much are those coil on plugs? you just go wreckers diving? Wonder if they would fit on my bmw engine... I was going to go the LS1 coils, but these might be neater with a decent bracket.
  25. Just remember i still have that engine crane when you want it back. I just lugged it to my new house on the weekend. Used it to transport my spare engine around in the new garage:)
