  1. Ah that is interesting. Thankyou for the ohotos. If you don't mind me asking what pressure drop over the valve do you test at?
  2. Very interesting stuff. Do you tend to use a flow test bench to validate the work you do?
  3. Battery light coming on with extra load = alternator dying. I wouldnt have thought it would be related to your fuel gauge issue. Have you pulled the fuel gauge out of the tank and given it a good clean?
  4. Have you confirmed fuel pressure at the rail?
  5. I see you posting this beast on reddit....
  6. Grab a haltech e8 if you can find one. I got mine for $200. Brilliant ecu for how much they are. Make sure you load on the latest firmware. don't stuff around with the factory computer. Grab a wide band o2 sensor and spend a long time learning to wire, setup and tune the ecu.
  7. Is this the standard carb? If so buy a carby kit to replace the needle and seat and all the gaskets. Clean everything while you got it appart. You can't adjust anything but over the years the seals go and the needle and seat wears out.
  8. Mmmm not really a fan of that lip. And yeah I liked the fog lights too. Metal ring gasket? You mean the ceramic ones that go between the cast iron peices of exhast? Repco had them in stock last time I needed one. Just take in old one to get right size.
  9. How old is the fuel? If its 98 octane it will go off pretty quick.
  10. Needs to look at compressor maps to decide on turbo. Its only 1.6L. Go smallest turbo you can get away with. Intercool it well and drive it hard. That how you get response.
  11. Disconnect the tps and see if it starts. Similarly diaconnect the map sensor and see if it starts.
  12. Cause it doesnt owe him enough money to warrant putting effort in. Ie the number he came up with he knows is massively over inflated.
  13. It's the age old question! What shocks are you considering using? I had 6kg with mr2 kyb excel g in my 70 with a 4age and it was about right I thought. So I certainly wouldnt go higher than that. I tried 8kg and it was far too high. The excel g shocks I used only just made the grade, the front was slightly under damped. Especially if you are looking at doing events id look into some bilsteins or similar.
  14. Your best bet is to compare piston sizes. Find out the following info: Original front and rear brake piston area (remember drums have 2 pistons) Proposed new front and rear brake piston area. Then you can compare.
  15. Wonder if people are buying them at these prices though. They might be for sale forever.
  16. more pics! with a good camera! rad looking car mate, great to hear it back on the road. How on earth did you convince your other half to let you buy the smallest sports car in existence? when you have kids!
  17. Put some googly eyes on it and turn it into an octopus. (although it only has 4 legs, quadropus?) Great progress though! The only comment i have is that i would have thought it would have been better to put the reservoir above the throttles, so that if any liquid managed to find its way into the tubes, either fuel or condensation, it would dribble back into the engine, rather than accumulating. Although is this only for idle control? or is this where you are going to connect your map sensor as well?
  18. I have put narva +50 globes in my last 2 cars. Basically look like normal headlights colour wise, but throw out heaps more light. Cheap too.
  19. Nobody bothers ringing those people in the know either. Its all very clear cut as parrot sais. One phone call to an engineer could have answered all those questions. Ive called a few over the years and most of them love talking about your project car and how they can help. Once I get back to aus I'm going to apply to become a signatory engineer for mod plates.
  20. The ke70 radiators are expensive cause they a fully metal and I think twin row. They arereally quite excellent at cooling. But the full metal ones I think are way better than the newer plastic/aluminium radiators as they can fail at the rubber seals. So if you do determine that your radiator is cactus id spend the money on a replacement, well worth it if you intend to keep the car reliable.
  21. Excellent progress! Has this got powedt steering? Didnt these have an electric power steering hydraulic pump? Or maybe that was the sw20.
  22. 25deg btdc at idel? Seems far too much.
  23. Only comment i have is to double check your engine is somehow grounded to the negative terminal of battery as i think that will have am effect on how the alternator works.
