  1. I used a good condition standard ke70 radiator with my 4age, no issues. Any radiator in good condition will be fine. But the key words are good condition.
  2. Isnt k-t gearbox adaptor for putting a t series gbox behind a k series engine? This guy wants to put a k series gbox behind an a series engine. K-t adaptor won't help? I've never heard of a solution to adapt a series engine to a k series box.
  3. Dude is there is going to be any corolla left!!! Haha. Very interesting metal work therethat's for sure.
  4. Looks good! Nice wheels.
  5. 22re is a heavy lump of a thing.
  6. Taz is more qualified to answer, but I don't often hear of pistons exploding when k motors are boosted? Everyone seems to blow headgaskets before anything else.
  7. Damn that's got some go to it.
  8. Yah check the codes. Also did it ever run properly? And if so what did you change? Have you confirmed the camshaft and ignition timing? Try unplugging the tps and the map sensor independently and seeing if symptoms change.
  9. That is awesome! I've been in canada all year and I haven't seen 1 old corolla. I suspect you won't get it here within the next two weeks....but if you do bring it to Banff and take me for a hoon in the show haha!
  10. You should do the oil pump test. In the kitchen sink! And film it. And keep filming when your wife/mother/partner finds the aftermath.
  11. If you have it open I would be checking anything and everything.
  12. That's a cool colour on those wheels.
  13. Depends what is actually wrong with your current carby. A rebuild kit is like $50 and its not that difficult to rebuild one. Gotta lay everything out nicely and be careful not to lose something, but it should only take a few hrs for your first attempt. Following the vehicle manual of course!
  14. Best to measure all the bottom end clearances properly.
  15. Looks like an air brake!
  16. In regards to the strut tops. Did you have them on the wrong side? If I recall they are differert left to right.
  17. Mate of mine from new Zealand always said "if in doubt....rev it out"
  18. Very enjoyable reading as always. Looking forward to more.
  19. Surely by now all the 4ks and 5ks either have been rebuilt or need to be rebuilt. There must be so much variation in condition.
  20. So you are sure that the issue is in the ignition barrel itself? and not the switch where all the wires connect? I had the switch go bad on a car once, and just changed the switch. in your photo you can just see the screw you undo to separate the switch from the barrel. if you undo this screw and remove the switch you can operate the switch with (i think) a flat head screwdriver. If it is the ignition barrel a locksmith might be able to fix what you have. Then at least you will keep the same key. id be asking a locksmith what he reckons about it. I don't particularly like the idea of an aftermarket ignition barrel that needs modification to the wiring to make it work.
  21. If it were me i would use a multi meter to check what cables you need to hook up. How are you going to switch "accessories"? unless you piggy back it off ignition, but then you can't have your radio on without ignition being on.
  22. Wasnt there a ke15 (ke17?) red sprinter with the turbo directly under the carb? Theres a build thread on here somewhere. I saw the car in person once and the setup was very neat and compact.
  23. Better off buying a workshop manual for you car.
  24. I wonder if someone has removed the thermostat.
  25. Nice car. Tell him he's dreaming.
