Excellent. How the hell did they think they would ever get away with selling it to them? As if it wouldn't be seen. Assuming of course it wasn't stolen to order.... Seriously some people are complete dumb f@$ks. Do make sure you keep us updated on development.

Have been thinking about how to find one of these for a while. I know of someone who went to considerable trouble to have one made, and also of another person currently having screens made for their RT51. Apparently the guy to speak to is Ralph Moore at Autoglass in NSW which I have done this morning. He tells me KE15/17 screens haven't been available for 3 years so I am looking at a few possibilities to get them made. Obviously it gets down to economies of scale, so costs are up in the air. He has suggested figures of $300-$500 depending on what is required to have them made, and how many they may sell. The main cost being in tooling up. These days they are manufactured in Vietnam. At this stage I am putting this out there on the off chance anyone may have some useful information or insights in this area. Potentially at some stage we may need to look for a used screen for a pattern. My current screen is OK, albeit toughened glass, and still in the car. Somewhat selfishly, I wouldn't wish to provide it for a pattern. So I suppose, if anyone has a poor condition spare they may be willing to provide if required, would be interested to hear of that too. It isn't clear to me what would happen to that screen, but should it become necessary, I will get more info on that. i presume it gets sent to Vietnam. I am hopeful of getting sufficient info from another source that may render this unneccesary, but shall have to wait and see.

I won't keep banging away in Jordain's thread, when we should be here to admire his work! But, I have spoken to Ralph this morning. KE15/17 screens haven't been available for 3 years. I am looking at a few possibilities to get them made, and will post in the KE general thread when I find out something. As an example, Ralph is getting some RT50 screens made at the moment.

No one will ever know. No-one could ever prove it. In a car that old, no one would care. Bottom line if anyone tried to do any of that, they would need to exhibit an intent to deceive. That obviously isn't your intent here. In a relatively new car, say 5 years old, it may be relevant, in something approaching 25 years, it isn't. The day comes where you decide to sell it on rollaclub and claim genuine 30K, only driven to church on sundays by Cameron Diaz (Cameron would own a 4AGE if she wasn't a star) etc, I will flame your ass by linking this post! I mean, you are hardly disguising the fact.

Genuine part numbers are different between KE15/17 and the others, as are seals. I have emailed Ralph to assess the situation.
-
Now that would be pretty awesome if they catch them that way!
-
Well I got a headache trying to understand what they were saying, so gave up after page 1.
-
That is some promising news. Did Ralph mention anything KE15 wise?

It looks like it has even less track on the back than the front! Sure it isn't a rebodied Morgan?

I doubt your current diff will hold out long, unless you a very gentle. If you are thinking wheels, put a T series in first, then get wheels to suit that offset wise. You will likely need to narrow it and change it over to leaf spring mounts. Don't spend a fortune on a T18 or AE86 diff, just get a TA/RA22-28 diff. I got two RA28 diffs, one for free and one for $50. RA28 has a wider axle bearing. Whatever you get will need to be cutdown. Or there are skyline diffs etc etc. Silver Styler has written up a number of good posts on diff conversions. You will then need to modify your tailshaft to suit the diff length and bolt pattern wise.
-
which is why you change the o ring :rolls:
-
And start planning the diff upgrade now! I think you still have the standard diff? That Crossmember went for $88 (plus shipping/fees etc) but looks like you have done a fantastic job with what you had.

Very shiny! I like. Have you had her running yet?

That's not too bad. I recently got some KE2x 555 tierods plus a pitman arm and idler arm from Singapore. Once postage factored in, the prices were pretty comparable. I need to pickup some fine thread KE1x tierods soon. Hopefully they are still available. Coarse thread (earlier ones) seem to be pretty easily available.

The engine wouldn't turn it! :laff:

Mainly for a KE15 which runs I think a 30A alternator. I plan on doing a substantial lighting upgrade, along with electric fuel pump and a few other electric doo dads, and have a 65A alternator for it. Would prefer to keep it looking pretty standard within reason, though I will for example be running electronic ignition on it, and of course upgrading the wiring to the lights. When the TE27 replica is done, I will be doing the same sorts of thing with that.
-
So I am curious What is it about external voltage regulators that make them specific to a car. Is it simply the wiring in/out of the regulator, or does it have something to do with the potential output of the alternator? Thinking aloud as I am planning on more than doubling the current (edit) output from the current alternator to run assorted accessories including spotlights etc.

RHD TE27's came out in Japan with both boosted and non boosted brakes. I can't answer your question for you sorry. I have taken the approach of sourcing a Japanese pedal box and brake master cylinder and booster. Having seen a genuine TE27 and noticed how tight things are room wise, I can tell you the master cylinder needs to be hard up against the strut tower with about a bees dick of clearance. I am also going to be running a factory airbox. Don't forget to leave adequate clearance for some sort of air filter arrangement
-
No, the car is definitely an RT132, imported jobbie. I have no idea if these are the struts people look for or not.
-
There's an RT132 at centre rd this morning that still has it's struts (sumitomo calipers). Are they the ones everyone wants??
-
Try Ralph Moore [email protected] I haven't contacted him myself, but apparently he is a bit of a guru when it comes to old or unusual glass. Ask him about KE15's whilst your there!

parrot replied to CodyTravers's topic in Automotive Discussion
Yes. Your Tasmanian Road Traffic Authority. Don't listen to anyone else. -
I'm also a vote fro the original colour, BUT Nobbler's car came up a treat in what looks like satin black http://www.rollaclub.com/board/topic/37738-project-10/page__st__60
