  1. The KE20 at centre rd I doubt has a single usable thing left on it. as of last Sunday. Mind you I was very pleased to get the glovebox inner. Thanks whoever removed it without destroying it and placing in the back out of the way! Otherwise I think it had a heater box, a wiper motor and one side vent!

  5. The number is coincidental, and does not mean it was made in October 1965. There was a recent thread on erly KE10's and chassis numbers. Search for that. From memory, earliest KE10 was 1966
  6. Saw a very nice olive green AE86 in Whitehorse Rd Box Hill today - but had ACT plates!

  8. I think I would push carefully from underneath. Use only the minimum force necessary. They really should give fairly easily, problem is they rust as they are not anodised or anything. Once you get some give in one, move along to the next one and work it off gradually
  9. Re the door ones, take of the inside door trim, wind down the window, lubricate the clips you can see really well with CRC or something, come back an hour later and gently lever them off. Put a rag in the bottom of the door so stray lubricant doesn't leak out onto your sills and be carful not to overspray onto the door panel
  10. Also subscribes! What a beauty! I would be interested to hear some detail on the trimming if possible, including ballpark figures. I need to get the bottom of the drivers seat on the KE15 repaired, and some stitching along the top of the rear seat. The rear isn't too bad, though possible fairly friable. A trimmer is someone I haven't had to use previously.
  11. Hmm, I had forgotten what it looked like...... Yes, those are the factory fender mirrors. They did also come out in Japan with the cone style fender mirrors, i.e. the ones that everyone puts on TE27's and TA22's. Although you would need to be careful to get the correct ones with respect to angles and attachments and so on. I have a picture of these mirrors in one of my JDM brochures.
  12. No, look around for a cheap, rusty AE82 twin cam, and change EVERYTHING over. And I mean everything By far the cheapest and most effective way to increase power along with brakes etc. As long as you can do it yourself. Should take a weekend.

  14. Actually, legally no, as we never got any of those cars here. You have to prove it underwent certification in Australia in that configuration, and it didn't.
  15. I have seen 1 S series LSD advertised in Australia in the last 5 years. T series requirements have been well documented here, toymods and AE86 Driving Club. Wherever T series diffs were not fitted in AE86's. i.e. Australia. It's a bolt in conversion but expensive. T18 diffs T series diffs are bolt in but hard to find, and pricey when you do, plus drum brake. AE86 drum T series virtually unseen here. AE86 disc rear T series available but very expensive. Read up on T18's diffs and sway bar fitment. T series diffs and axle sizes and diff centre compatibility. It is very well covered everywhere. T series came out in many other Toyota's but only the T18 or AE86 housing is a direct bolt in. The search button is your friend. But yes, be careful about rust, and wary if it has been modified, unless you know what you are looking at.
  16. I'm not sure that I would agree that a 2T isn't worth pursuing if you intend modifying, but certainly, I wouldn't make the effort if you were going to keep it stock. Whilst it is a relatively simple conversion, even if you have the ability to do most things yourself, it still requires mount fabrication and engineering certification. 1600cc engines respond well to the usual mild/moderate modifications as mentioned above. 1800cc comes easily with a 3T bottom end and 2 litre engines are well documented if you want to spend some money. Ample torque available there. Certainly 5k and 7K transplants are standard fare nowadays, much simpler and well documented.

  18. My old stock bottom end 2T in a TA22 with a mild cam, ported head, twin webers and 2 inch exhaust put out the same power as my mates stock 2TG
  19. Make sure the terminal sizes match your clamps ( or factor in that you may need to change those) I thought it was the red wire......woops!
  20. Have a bit of a look around with the search button. Most people look at putting 2TG's in which is the same installation wise as the presumably 2T single cam engine you are thinking of putting in. Only difference will be more clearance around your brake master cylinder / clutch master cylinder if you are doing a 2T and it retains a downdraft carburettor. Main thing is the need to modify the engine mounts. I'm sure there is a KE30 with a 2TG in the rides thread somewhere, and numerous queries about 2TG's into KE 30's/KE55's in the tech threads. Edit: If the donor is a 77 model, would probably be a TA23. But make sure it isn't an R series engine in an RA23/RA28
  21. It's often a bit awkward measuring from the side of one tyre to another. A quick easy way to get toe roughly where you want it, prior to driving the car down to the wheel alignment place, is to tie a piece of cord to the centre of your rear bumper bar, then running it past the centre of the rear wheel and up to the side of the front wheel. Pull the cord tight then gently bring it in till it contacts the tyre. If it touches only the rear of the tyre, you have toe in, if it touches only the front you have toe out. Then adjust at the tie rod till you have it roughly where you want it. Repeat on the other side. Make sure you have your steering fairly centred before you start!
