  1. Meeting a guy from AE86Dc who was picking up some parts off me. He was shocked that I was the guy as I looked way too old to have an AE86. Was so pissed, I didn't bother telling him I had owned the car since before he was even born......
  2. So just spent an enjoyable nearly hour or so going through your whole thread. Top effort I have to say, and your persistence is pretty amazing. Really looking forward to seeing it in the flesh when you are done.
  3. I did wonder about that plane, at the point where everything briefly goes fuzzy, and later when it actually lands on all four wheels it looks a bit too much like a radio controlled model......... And yes, Ari is god. Though Henri Toivonan was pretty close. Unfortunately he is with god, perhaps because he wasn't quite close enough.
  4. PLUS: Enjoyed Monster Tajima's recent Pikes Peak record run http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7VAJaZAV-gQ But then went back to revisit Ari Vatanen......... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=edLnXzAwHVc You know its good when you are moving in your seat to anticipate corners, and simultaneously clenching your sphincter
  5. Always a bit wary lest these things are somehow 'manufactured'. But this is a pretty amazing piece of flying. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8TW08RfCrxk
  6. It's on its way!
  7. Ha! Was reading bedtime stories to my daughter tonight, and kept missing my place thinking about whether I should stick the K motor I got from Harvie in it!
  8. Damn! I should rebuild the engine in my 15, and turn up as is
  9. No worries, I mean it's not as if you haven't got anything else to do besides devoting your spare time to this site! As I said, I presume that being pdf files, these will print out actual size. If you need them redone with a ruler, let me know.
  10. And here are the Early T50 gaskets to go behind T engines Early T50 gaskets.pdf
  11. VAF is the variable resistor TE1 is the check connector VC Vacuum sensor, throttle position sensor
  12. I agree with all the above re safe cars. If anything, club cars should be even better in this regard - and most I suspect would be. If you f$%K up, it reflects on all other members of your club, and potentially threatens the continuation of the scheme through your club.
  13. Yes, that is a very good point! The KE15's were all fully imported. Might need to go to a specialist automotive paint store and look through their catalogues perhaps
  14. Note, that applies to KE15's. Quite possible other colours were available in other models. i.e. Beige Edit: I should add, that info comes direct from a Toyota KE15 parts book so definitely accurate for that model.
  15. Brian Cohen: "There's just no pleasing some people" Leper: "That's just what Jesus said sir!" I can tell you that KE15's were available in the following colours Pan White Colour No. 1506-2 Helios Red Colour No. 1507-2 Selene Yellow Colour No. 1502-2 Tantalus Green Colour No. 1508-2 Neptune Turquoise Colour No. 1353-2 I am willing to bet a small amount of money that Pan White is the colour you need. This colour was still available in 1969. The Colour No's quoted are the Toyota numbers. Good luck!

  17. I would seriously suggest you look at a 4AGE rather than a 2TG. Similar work required, but 4AGE's are far more available, as are parts. Can still carb it if you like which makes the conversion a lot easier. In my view, 2TG's are for those with a particular interest and who are prepared to search high and low for parts. Have a look in the build threads. There will be a few 4AGE KE55's there I'm sure.
  18. Lightbulb! - Oh Yeah..... Your dreaming, not that there is anything wrong with that
  19. Spiwit, bwavado, a touch of dewwing do
  20. You need to provide power to the injectors. This is not done through the ECU. The ECU simply triggers them.
  21. A mate of mine once had one of these for a company car (!). He gave it absolute hell, and did amazing things in it, other than screwing his girlfriend - no room for that. And it just kept on going
  22. By far the cheapest option is the direct swap. Anything else will involve eye watering amounts of money. With a cheap donor, new oil, brake pads etc should cost a maximum of $1000. If anything from the donor needs replacing, you should pick it up at a self serve wrecker or on here cheap. These are throw away cars these days. No reason why you can't go with the direct swap now, and go silly sometime in the future.
  23. A while back I proposed posting up a file of gaskets people could copy onto gasket paper or cork as applicable. Nothing seems to have happened with it, so I will put these up here. If applicable, mods may wish to relocate. I will add to it as I can. For example, I have an earlier T50 set somewhere too. Presumably since they are attached as pdf files, they should print out as actual size. Please feel free to add stuff you may have, but probably best not to clutter the thread with chat. KE1x Gearbox overhaul KE1x water pump and axle flange.pdf KE2x gearbox gaskets.pdf AE86 T50 gaskets.pdf
  24. If you are doing this, why not get the cam and head done too. That is where you will really see the benefit of adding the carb and exhaust. Realistically shouldn't be too expensive. Keep to a moderate grind on the cam and it will transform the car.
  25. Yes you have it good. Ignore the 4AGZE. They never came out here in an AE82. Keep it simple and swap over the mechanicals from a donor AE82 twincam. i.e. the first one in Twinky's list. All the others substantially add complexity.
