There is a fair amount of rust in this beast. it will all have to be rust converted before any new metal is welded in. Its gonna take a bit of work but it will be on par with the work thats been done on the 38.

Still, 80kw ish out of an NA 1200 is still good work. and some people still prefer to use the old money :)

Not a big fan of the MEGA WHEELS. but other than that it looks like a clean base for a project. Hows it fare rust wise? +1 for holidays for some.

Found a serious bit of cancer just below the A pillar. Was a hole right thru to the interior behind the bitumenous stuff they use where the inner guard is welded to the rest of the body. I cut it out and rust converted it. Then cut some clean metal out of the old tail gate and bent it in all the right places, welded it in and just waiting on some spray primer to seal it.

Think i spotted Bundy this arvo on south Rd opposite SCA at Darlington. Do you have the RAD-036 plates?

The half leaf is secured to the pack with a the center bolt at one end and riveted to the top leaf (NOT pop rivets, industrial type ones) The leaves i had made for 13BT KE20 and Greenmac80 both had half leafs fitted.

The passenger side rear rust has been totally eliminated. All smoothed over and in primer. Drivers side is just waiting for me to go to work and cut a strip of steel for the boot seal and weld it in. The worst rust in the car (under side window) is all ready to be sanded back. All other rust in the car has been rust converted and will give it a go over with some zinc prime and weld in new metal for the bits that need it. Seats are out. as is the rear carpet. Will be looking for new carpet for this beast after its painted. Is the wagon carpet the same as the sedan? i don't really need to worry about boot carpet at this stage. Where has everybody else go for their carpet needs? Ebay? Knox? Cheers

Try getting a hold of a top end gasket kit (VRS?) Will have every gasket you need from the head gasket up. I was looking for a headgasket and manifold gasket for my ute and it was like $40. compared to a top end kit that had all the gaskets i needed for $44.50. so it will probably work out cheaper.

about the only way to force air down there is turbo or supercharging. hence the term "forced induction" :jamie: Then again, anything that helps the engine suck cooler air has got to be of some advantage. Rather than sucking hot air from under the bonnet thats already been thru a hot radiator. Something like an air dam from behind the beaver panel piping into an air box on the carb or something. just an idea.
