    When working on a Corolla, it is important to have the right tools, SST1 and CCT are a must have item! Next I let Matt get down and greasy with his hubs, did I mention how much I hate grease? While Matt was busy doing that I put the heat shields / caliper mounting plates back on. After the hubs / bearings were greased and the hub seals were put on it was time for the bastards to go back on! Finally, after many months the Rolla was back on its feet!!! We even managed to roll it back to try get a better shot of the twinlight setup, but it was getting a bit too dark by then, next weekend we will roll it out of the shed for a better shot..

    While the paint was drying, we decided to head out and grab some new front wheel bearings (Had to go to Repco, gah, that story can wait till another day). Finally got the bastards (complete set, hub seal/inner/outer bearings) and punched out the old suckers and pressed the new ones in. (Not before smashing my finger a beauty with SST1). The secret to getting them started is to lay the new bearing in place and put the old one on top upside down and tap them in (see pictures 2 and 3).

    Well, scince Matt hasn't got round to uploading the latest photos, I've decided I'd do it for him. Firstly We ripped the rotors off the hubs, cleaned the rusty bits up with a drill and wire wheel, then treated it to a coat of high temperature black. Once the paint had dried the rotors were bolted back onto the hubs.

    The day started with some very average weather, met a few people at aspley, watched a commodore get pulled over by the cops, decided to head to the next stop. Then we passed a 3 car accident not far past the riverside motorway (a poor KE70 had the whole front end mashed in). Then headed to springwood (was a bit of a police presence on the way there). Met up with the other group of people at springwood then headed off again. Stopped at mugeraba and packed the carpark there and proceeded to head to the dam when Nick arrived. BBQ'd and had shitloads of fun, was a great day out. Good to meet some new faces, I think I counted around 22 cars or so, was such an awesome turn out for a day event! :rocknroll: :P :y:

    Yeah, I've seen an AE86 with sciscor doors before, I don't think that you actually buy the kits for specific cars, they have to be modified to fit whatever you are installing them into. Pretty sure you just buy a generic kit.

    I've had a pretty new set of points break on me once before, the plasticy bit that the lobe inside the dizzy pushes back and foward snapped clean off and the points jammed shut. Result, car refused to start for me..

    The last time my alternator f@$ked itself it wasn't charging below like 3500RPM, was alright while I was on the highway, but get into shit peak hour traffic that crawls and I found myself revving it high to make sure it would still charge.. I think it was something to do with diode pack dying.. then after I had that replaced the damn coil bindings absolutly fried the shit out of themselves, was wondering why when I was driving along my headlights were dull, then absolutly blinding to any poor c**t that would have been in front of me, pretty sure they told me it was actually putting too much power back into the battery when they tested it out.. then i got them to put in a bigger stator and that seems to have solved the problem.. *touches wood*

    The simple way to test your alternator, connect a multimeter up to the battery, start the engine and rev it up, you should see the voltage climb as you rev it, usually somewhere around 14v is put back into the battery if the alternator is doing its job properly..
