:) Thread screws onto the "push in" bit.
-
Don't be suprised if all those spots continue to rust and cracks out all of the bog. Or one decent bump and your car is going to look like a block of swiss cheese again. Did you ever put any rust converter/fish oil etc on it before bogging?
-
Yeah well I was going to say if you have those bits then put it all together (basically stock 5k configuration but with the 4k head) and see how much slack (If any) there is in the pushrods.
-
Yeah they do. And to convert a 5k to solids you need to use the 4k adjustable rocker gear which you'll already have. Do you have the hydro pushrods and non-adjust rocker gear?
-
Both options will give you better performance than a stock single carb, but I hopnestly don't think there would be a whole lot between them. Its not like we're comparing 3kb carbs with say twin sidies (DCOE's). So my vote would be to spend the $200 on something else, like and MSD 6A (not just an MSD coil) which will give you a much more noticable improvement than what 3kb carbs ever would over a single.
-
I think your best bet would just be to convert to solids. For this purpose just disregard the fact you're using a 4k head and source the parts for a normal 5k solid conversion. This is essentially my setup - 5k bottom end, 3kbp head, chev lifters and A12 pushrods. I reckon if you tried to use the 5k hydro lifts, pushrods and non-adjust rocker gear then your pushrods might pull up slightly short, but don't quote me on that. If its a 5k bottom end, then just use a 5k head gasket. :jamie: Reccomend genuine.

Yeah fug it, its already posted here in the tassie section so why not. It was a quite hot day and we ended up having a water fight. People were getting covered in pots full of water but lloyd thought it was better used as a hat. Also notice the patriotic southern cross on his chest (it was australia day)..... :jamie:
-
Looking heaps better now. :( :jamie: is damn right with the fuel consumption!!! Is that on PULP or BPU?
-
Dunno. I didn't boost it near any cops, and its not like the cooler is obviously hanging out the front. Was plenty of other cars there that had exhaust system making a "note", some probably louder than me. I even drove at 40kmh through campbell town with a line up of traffic building behind and got another one following.
-
haha you guys should find lloyd good value. He's quite entertaining while drunk. :P Should I put up that pic from the hottest 100 party mate!?
-
Trust me mate, I'm hanging to get that project started. I did originally plan to have it done by now (or be nearly finished) but a premature baby and weekly trips to hobart soon put a stop to that. A slight plus note to not having it done yet is the other guy building a 4x4 KE70 (in the technical builds section) is now a bit ahead of me...... so he can find the main problems and enlighten me! :P
-
Yeah, there was for an example a 4age ke30, and a noticed a 7mge MKII cressida....... which didn't get a look in. They seriously came straight to me, gave it a good look over then just had a "browse" at everything else. :P
-
Yep. I'm guessing the only reason I did was because there was about 40 at the cruise, and to be fair they'd need to check all of them, not just me. Ie too much work. Only things they said need to be done is box the air filter and run a plumb-back BOV. but have since been told (by a turbosmart dealer) that they can be vent to atmosphere in tassie. Yeah sorry about that Ben, it was just the easiest way to prove to them that it was the stock motor as they were having a hard time believing it.
-
Automotive discussion thread has been merged with this one. :P
-
Didn't expect to be posting these pics after the cruise! :P .......
-
The Toyota 4age......... Like a retard on viagra, they'll stick it in anything! :P
-
X2 definately re-charge your battery and then come back to us if its still a problem. Having an immobiliser these days is a must, so don't remove it. :P
-
Or get one like this.... http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Speco-Meter-Fuel-Pr...id=p3286.c0.m14 The 1-6 around the edge is the pressure in PSI..... still having a guage isn't a bad idea. :P
-
x2 I'm not going to write an essay on why its not good, I'll just leave you with one point. If dosage/flutter/compression surge is ok, and BOV's are not really neccessary, then why does basically every factory turbo car have factory fitted BOV? :P Actually, can anybody tell me of a factory turbo car that doesn't have a BOV? Seriously I want to know!
-
Can get the bearing by itself from any parts shop (repco, bursons etc) for around $10. For the cost an effort required I think its worth doping nearly every time you remove the gearbox.
-
You looking at shock fitment from other cars? Couldn't you just get the dimentions you need from a shockie catalogues?
-
Oh shit man, didn't expect to be reading that this morning. New sheel and back better than ever I say. Not getting sold any time soon now then!? I thought mine was going to be off the road on the weekend on a toyotas cruise when an oficer said "you better lift your bonnet please". :jamie: Was actually a nice couple of cops and they walked off without defecting me (probably cause the didn't want to check over another 40 cars also) and was just told to box the pod filter and get a plumb-back bov. :)

I might end up in the touring class next year. As part of the sponsorship we do for targa we get a free entry each year. Last year we didn't use it so this year we have 2x entries. You can have one for around $5k! :lovin: ....I'd like to be doing the rookie rally myself next year but I don't think Its possible (finances wise) with a new baby and stuff. Oh, and do you also know that touring class cars go through the courses in one big pack and are supposed to stick to posted speed limits!? :lolcry:
-
Fairo, forgot you had a sillycar too. FYI with Targa - They now have whats called the "rookie rally" with both modern and classic classes. If you haven't driven in Targa Tas before then you have to do your first year in the section, which only runs for 3 of the 5 days of targa. Once you've done your rookie year you can then return to play with the big boys over 5 days. http://www.targa.org.au/Competitors/FirstTimers.html If you ever did get down here, then I live in Launy (targa base for at least 4 nights[and whole rookie rally]) and would be more than happy to donate some shed space for overnight maintenance. :lolcry: And the best tip I can give you for Targa- spend AS MUCH AS YOU POSSIBLY CAN on brakes, I'm talking like $5k+. 95% of the cars you'd race against are wearing AP's/Harrops/Wilwoods or Brembos. FFS GTR's come with brembos I don't think I've ever seen one still wearing them!!!

Whats the other project you have in the works? Saw this for sale on ebay before seeing you want to sell here and thought "what the?" Also you siad you have all the bits to do the T series disc conversion. Are you going to sell that will the car or would you be intersted in selling seperately?
