  1. What did the flake gun cost you? I've heard a lot of mixed reviews about dry flaking, whAt size is that gun good for?

    Spotted

    yep.
  3. dude, I lived in Leabrook (home of the coopers brewery incidentally), but Kenisington/Norwood/Tusmore have some good cheap places, like units rather than apartments, better chance of a garage etc and I used to work in Grenfell street (turns into Currie St). Living in those areas is wicked, it's close as shit (12 buck taxi ride). I walked 50m to the bus stop, got on, read my book for 20 minutes and got off the bus outside my office. I'd defintely look that way again if I were renting. Also look around Magill, Stepney, Kent Town etc etc.
  4. i should probably attend something. I'm not a big cruise man though, I'd rather drink beers and kick around in someones workshop meddling with cars....
  5. Dude it's a good film. Pay close attention to the narrative. It gets better the more you see it.
  6. Well I tell you what, gerry's grand plan to tax <1000 buck imports will defintely create jobs.... for CUSTOMS officers. I've bought a number of shipments in from the US (porsche parts mainly) and all over 1000 bucks. Never paid duty on them, I assume because they don't have the time to check every shipment and apply duty to it. One time the package was 3 wakeboards and bindings at well over 2k. No duty. So if they can't check and apply duty to every 1000+ shipment, how in the name of hell are they going to managed tens of thousands more items to be assessed? Import duty isn't as simple as "oh, such and such bought so and so for X dollars, add 10%, send him a bill". There are loads of tax exemptions for imports, things that you can't acquire locally for example. Different rates and so on.
  7. I personally reckon it's easier to leave the box attached. Just drop the gearbox crossmember off (6 bolts), pull the shifter out (4 bolts) and off you go.
  8. No you can't is my guess although I'm not a KE55 owner, that's where i'm putting my money. shorter bosskits can e found, and are you sure the seats are all the way back? Older rails can get sticky etc and they don't move easily through their full movement.
  9. Yeh I used ansys 11 a fair bit at my old job, using solid works for design, I ran a bunch of analyses in COSMOS to compare and they were all spot on. Don't fiddle with it much these days. Done a couple of moonlighting jobs and that's it.
  10. Yeh no kidding Luke, interest free loans with some amazingly nasty pitfalls if you miss a payment or don't make the 17 month deadline! Like mentioned on the 7pm project the other day, a show I don't usually watch, harvey and his compadres did nothing to support australian manufacturers over the last 25 years, don't see him shedding a tear for the demise of that industry!
  11. Ahhh cosmosworks. Good times. I woudnt worry about those stresses in the ncrca model it's a bit of a false positive because you've used a split face you'll get spikes at the phantom edge. Mind you I was impressed by the deflection value, seems pretty high. One of the speedway boys posted a picture of his half inch steel plate version, run an analysis on that next. Regardless of the fea, I reckon ncrcas are dodgy, especially given how cheap a set of camber tops are.
  12. This guy is REALLY pissing me off as of late....
  13. I've got an old photo, like an actual photo and All, of my first car that I cut with a scalpel and lowered and glued in my school diary.
  14. nice to see another one getting tidied up. not a fan of the wheels either though.
  15. Mahle are the pistons that ACL supply. I didn't know that they had 100 thou!
  16. Weight is not the key factor, it's got much more to do with where they take the weight from. Just give it to a clutch machining joint and get them to do it, forget the numbers. get it stress relieved also. You wont find any performance gain by a solid conversion. It simply comes down to which camshaft you buy, you get either a hydraulic one or a solid one. I suggest you just go with the hydraulic one and save yourself the pains. Info is not limited. It's everywhere. Take your head to an engine builder along with your manifold of choice (SU manifold etc) and get them to portmatch and a mild polish. Get them to modify the head to get the compression ratio you are after. Don't stuff around with 3k big port heads. Sorry zoidburg, but you're way off the mark. A hydraulic cam runs hydraulic lifters. Solid cam for solid lifters. There is no limitations other than the difference in ramp rates. You can get a big fat hydraulic cam, you can get a mild solid cam and vice versa. I suggest you download a copy of Wade Cams CAM-CAT (click here) and have a look through the selection of Hydro and Solid profiles they offer for the K engine, there is no way you could consider the selection to be "limited" Don't even need to talk to Coln72, I run a huge hydraulic cam (~.480 lift!) and it gets revved hard. It is more than ample for a daily driver and honestly when do you really need to hit 8000rpm? Certainly not in a street car. I have had no issues in 2 years of daily driving and I have no idea where my feeler gauges are because I don't need to gap tappets. GJM i think you meant to say that you can increase your static compression with a bigger cam (Larger cams reduce the dynamic compression)?
  17. Get it to fit a ke10 and you should be right for most. Hm headers extractors for k motors fit all.
  18. +1 for master, mine had similar symptoms on my hachi. Do the slave while you're at it, it'll go in the next 6 months anyway.
  19. Ke16s don't run vents, only 18s Top ride
  20. Sounds like it's bored to 60 over with 40 over pistons.... I bought a 5k that had the same thing done.... Dodgy. Yeh ACL make 60 overs.
  21. I figured you were going to upright it when you started to ask about inlet runners. Sweet. I run a ke20 rad in mine, slightly taller but fits alright. That should be fine for you cam, reckon you might just need to look at custom lower rad hoses. My biggest problem with that oneisfitting it around the alternator, I actually put a hole in the hose from the fan on the alternator hitting it since I upgraded to the internal erg alternator. It keeps mine running cool the biggest problem is no overflow bottle.
  22. Dude that isn't paint your trying to strip ill bet my money on,it's Gelcoat and it's a hell of a lot thicker And tougher than paint. I'd be talking to a pro for advice before you just start ripping it up.
  23. I'll tell you what grinds my gears damn it...... Youth of today, wasting all their energy on the inter-whistle whinging about women being women instead of focusing on what's important..... Like hooking up a bi/lesbian/curious 3 way!
  24. He needs one for engineering in VIctoria. I fitted a magna one into my bluebird wagon, little bit of cut and shut and some hole drilling. Easy.
  25. so much for austerity measures. liking that they even machined out rebates in the cam lobe to really bring the rotating mass down.... I was hoping for beserk high revs like 12k+!
