If that's what he want's in life, for an engine to rev, hey, what ever paddles his boat. Me, I'd go the L20 way. They're torque monsters, and you'll pull better horsepower out of one, at a more usable rev range. 8K rpm isn't much good if you ain't making the neddies. But that's my personal opinion. At the end of the day it isn't my car, either.

Umm, why would you put an L18 in a car that originally came out with an L20?
  4. yep.
  5. 20 minutes with a Mig welder, and I can make your's into one. :jamie:
  6. Behold the K engine Guru. ^^^^^^ All very good words. FWIW, I run later valves in my head, with later valve stem seals. Early O-ring type suck the big one. If you're in Brissie, I can put you on to an excellent machine shop.....
  7. I'll reply properly to this tonight. R
  8. It doesn't work with 4 speeds however.
  9. .... but then, there is always La Louch's great "Rendezvous", the early morning hot run through Paris streets. Rumored to be a Ferrari driven by an F1 driver, although also rumored to be La Louch himself in his Mercedes. Still a great bit of footage. http://www.bsdunix.ch.nyud.net:8090/public...ezvous20_04.mov Careful, it's about 32 meg.
  10. True. Ari is still God, but this one is still up there.
  11. *sigh* I've just wasted another 10 minutes watching it over and over. Watch for "gear" indicator to the right of the steering wheel, and the change lights to the left.....
  12. I understand this to be Audi's R8 Le Mans car on a demo run on a Rally Catalunya stage. This is SHATTERINGLY GOOD. It's one of the best pieces of in/on car footage I've seen in a long, long time. It is, however about a 10meg download. Enjoy. (I wonder where the Nav sits??) http://testudladry.free.fr/jcc_videos2005/..._castellana.wmv PS: Mel, can your email take a 10meg email? You just gotta see this....
  13. Wooo, Bugger. Yep, I have a couple of K40 boxes that look like that.
  14. 99 did hugely well with 2nd in class, 4th (!) Outright, Tony had a very average day with two blown gearboxes, and electrical issues. I don't know where he came Outright, but I know he came 2nd in class. We had a good day, although we snapped the exhaust at the extractors, and did a stage and a half at 3000dB. I couldn't hear for an hour after! Looks like a good time to get new pipes and exhaust. Fook and Ralph were doing well, until they did (I think) a driveshaft in stage 5.
  15. Big thumbs up :D to the Scottzmotorsport team, who sucessfully changed a gearbox and clutch in under 15 minutes, up at the rally at Jimna. Gotta be happy with that!
  16. Dude, if you still have troubles, we can fix. I'm also in Aspley.
  17. Don't bitch too much, my Velo's were $750 a piece....
  18. I'm not haranging you, I'm just advising you. On something like a Datsun, that's a really good idea. However the problem with Corolla's is the aforesaid mentioned lack of space. When I fitted my Webers, there was exactly 38mm between the carb and the tower. I don't know the measurement on a 30, but I think you maybe struggling to fit 4 inch (100mm) K&N's on, due to the slant and the tower. Remember that although you can have the trumpets, you still have to be able to get the filters on and off for cleaning. I sincerely hope you can fit K&N's, as they're an excellent filter, however if you want trumpets, you may have to go socks, due to fitment problems. Nor am I slagging the gentleman who gave you the advice, as it's sound advise. I'm just suggesting that he may not know the space issues involved. FWIW I have 40mm sandwich filters on the 3K, with no trumpets, and socks and small trumpets on the 2TG.
  19. Have a word with Keith Fackrell, KCF Rallysport in Redcliffe. He's not particularly cheap, but he's very very good. Great guy to talk to, tell him I sent you! R
  20. on Dwarf, I literally can't have anythig larger than a bolt head, otherwise a can't slide the filters in. Ke30 you should have some room, but I don't think there's a whole lot.
  21. If it's a Ke2x, you can't run trumpets OR socks because there simply isn't room. There's a bit more space in a KE3x, and more again in a KE70. KE70 you should be able to run small trumpets. FWIW, you don't NEED trumpets, however they are a good thing. I don't have them on my 25, for the above reason.
  22. Is it a capillary guage, or an electric one? If it's electric, I'd change senders..... *edit* Having re-read that, I'm not sure thats the problem, as you seem to have gone from what was there, to a guage....
  23. I can feel 99's input impending..... :(
  24. Probably because, sadly, the rest of the country considers Corollas to be, well, about as interesting as penguin snot. Ladies and gentlemen, it is up to us to correct that impression......
  25. Doh! Welcome to the world of fuel comsumption! :(
