My race motor was balanced,, the thing hardly moved in the engine bay. A k-motor won't let go. I tried destroying one a number of years ago. Involved were a 4K, a brick, and a couple of mates armed with six packs. Brick installed on throttle, valves bouncing, beers consumed. Approx two stubbies later, engine screaming, boys disappointed with lack of action. Jif introduced into engine oil. One stubbie later, toxic fumes and steam eminating from every orifice in engine. Still powering along, although at reduced revs. Finally ran out of fuel and seized solid. They don't tend to let go.

Yep, that one's gutsy. You want to try and find some photo's of the airstrips in PNG. Some of them are on an 8 degree slope, and you can only take off down hill.

yes-ish. The backing plate holes on your strut need to be oversized and re-threaded. But apart from that, it's bolt on.

Ummm... yes. They ask you to do these things so that you have some semblance of experience before you hit the road, because at this point of your driving life, YOU KNOW STUFF ALL. People have been known to fudge logbooks, but that is called FRAUD, and funnily enough is ILLEGAL.

From memory, you can replace your 3K with a 4K in Vic without an engineers. Somepeople have slipped a 5K through as well. A 2T or corona motor will definitely need an Engineers. Ball park figure used to be a 10% increase in capacity, and it was time to go engineering, but that may have changed. A Corona motor won't bolt in, and a Celica motor needs a bit of work to be made to fit, and is a squeeze in a 20. Gee they go once they're in though, although the weight tends to unsettle a 20. FWIW I had a 1360cc 3K that was in my rally car, but that took a bit of talent on someone elses behalf to become that fat. At one point we were looking at a 1410cc 3K, but that put us out of the class we wanted to be in. A bit of Googling will get you the engine information you seek.

There is a HUGE amount of information out there, and you've asked a HUGELY generalised question. Therefore, pop off, do a bunch of research and come back to us with questions such as "If I up the ergotrons to the thronomister on a 4age, will it be as effective as installing overhanded underdrivers......." :dance:

I used to use Wade cams, and they were very good, and have a good selection of grinds.

I saw the thread title and i thought that it would never be as rusted as that one in Malaysia that pops up from time to time. I was wrong. Hmmmm...... I had an Isuzu Bellett that was in similar condition. :P
