  1. A helpful tip, before you start to become impatient, is to use a combination of that little button at the top right of your screen labled "SEARCH", plus some initiative. It shows that at least you tried and that when any issues arise during your conversion, the wider community will be more willing to assist you in overcoming any problems. Outside of that, your liable to receive smart-arse responses like these. But just for you; click here all the same, and you shall find your answers...
  2. I should have clarrified - the blackening on the plugs, was due to carbon fouling, not so much oil fouling. also, one would expect the smoke to smell like oil if there was a leak? correct me if i am wrong however. on a small note, and one i am hoping is not the case, has anyone every run 2 stroke fuel through a 4 stroke with any issues/success? given i topped up my tank with the fuel i found in the jerry can, i am 95% confident that it was just plain fuel, but not completely sure...
  3. ok, so checked compression, and sparkplugs. the comp was between 155-165 between all 4, which would indicate little blow-by, the plugs however were pretty black, even after replacing them yesterday. drove down the shops, and yet more smoke...
  4. Thing is it doesn't smell oily though...but thanks for the replys - I will do a compression test. Started it this morning - holding revs, and idling. heated up ok. checked oil level before i started, and it was about where I expected it to be (about 4/5ths between low and high), given I've done probably 1000kms since topping up. the blue smoke has started since the rebuild. also, I must put it in there, that this is a wreckers engine, estimated at probably 200-240 thousand kms. the last one burnt through valves. in terms of smoke...i ran it for about 5 minutes yesterday, and the next door neighbour thought the house was on fire. to give you a mental image, think the amount of steam produced by a cold car, on a cold morning. then imagine the steam not disappearing... also of note, is that the exhaust smells more like a mower, than a 2.6 Magna... will get back to you guys though. thanks again. nb. EFI - i wish...money is a little too tight for a conversion at...
  5. Hi people. The story goes that I've recently rebuilt my carbi, after 380000 kms, I thought it'd do it some good. So, on it went after the rebuild, but still no improvement in fuel economy. then, its started to breakdown on me, where the car loses power. I rectified this temporarily, by discovering that the plugs had been fouled by carbon. Enter problem - the carb appears to be overfueling. first thought that the fuel solenoids were to blame - causing fuel to be sucked in when the foot was released from the accelerator. replaced these, still over fueling. then went to pick-a-part, to source the carb that I initially pinched the solenoids off - and put that on. still having the issue of blue smoke, pouring from the exhaust, and a very uneasy idle. After piling through the many manuals i have, i given up and open it to you, the audience, to please suggest possible things that i could try, or even if you could relay some of your experiences too. Thanks in advance, Andrew
  6. did this myself. pretty easy to wire over, if you have the manual handy, to match up tacho signal and the other wires. speedo is fine (accurate), as is the tacho. In terms of the other three gages, of course one is time, one is battery (which is wired off the back of the cluster, so no need for special wiring), and the last is oil, which does require a factory oil pressure sender out of the block.
  7. Spotted a cream KE11 on canterbury rd, at surrey hills at about 10.20 this morning. also spotted a red and black ke20 parked on caterbury rd, around 12 at blackburn sth shopping centre
  8. Sweet idea Jarrad. Would most definitely be up for this! although winter driving could pose issues for people who might push too much on unfamiliar roads, in the middle of nowhere. Also where winter is concerned; trying to nail a weekend from months away could prove troublesome if weather closes in. but alas, BRING IT ON!!!
  9. just the 5 blade fan, door handle surrounds (Interior), and the hard fuel line from the pump to carbi...
  10. just to correct on the ke20 - still has the 13in jellybeans, a 4k (w/o 5 blade fan anymore :jamie:) and a pretty complete interior. boot floor is also pretty rateable.
  11. Hi people. Not sure if this is where to put it, but this sn't strictly a "forsale". I have a customer of mine at work who wishes to part with his beige ke30 sedan. I have details, and photos if anyone is interested so pm me. Reasonably straight, and only looking for $300 ono. Regards Andrew (Bowler)
  12. Spotted a Ke55 coupe, in primer turning onto Glenferrie Rd near the Maccas on wednesday. nothing much to distinguish apart from no grill and quad lights. Also spotted a dumped, white ae71 spirit on canterbury Rd (heading towards the city) around 7 last night
  13. Hi Guys. Just like to say a huge thanks to Jarrad for yet another great trip! Your effort and dedication is testiment to its success and popularity. Thanks to the support team to (Tate, Ben, Andy) for your organising of the weekend, and showbags. Teddy, great film! It was great to catch up again with everybody. Hope to see you all again next year! Cheers

  16. Hey peeps, Should be able to make this one too. Good to see everyone again....
  17. ;) ....THAT'S NOT A RADIATOR?!? That'll only help your fuel consumption, lol . Good work though! good to see you finally got around to posting a tread about the barge tho :)
  18. Not so much a Mod, but more an emergency fix. Was driving home along the Ring rd around 1am on Boxing Day morning one year. Coming up the hill near Pascoe Vale rd, and all of a sudden, I hear this "bang-thump-thump-thump-thump". I imediately pull over, and under the light from my phone rip off the front wheel, take a look - my front calliper is hanging off - bugger, lost the top mounting bolt, and the bottom is hanging on for dear life. Fix: got a 1/4 in drive socket (I believe an 8mm), pulled out the bottom bolt and put that in the top. Then using the socket to line up the bottom hole, I tighten the top bolt using my handy 6in shifter. Drove very, very carefully home using gears, and handbrake for the final 30min...
  19. Oooo...now the decision comes as to whether to bring this, or the 70 to GOR4?
  20. ABOUT F&^^%#G TIME!!! Dude, great to hear. after exams are over, i'm coming round to help. i got some prettty sweet clear bar lamps that'll fit that bumper too. hows things?
  21. Ah, thanks for that tate :S ...Yeh, i meant 4AFC - first gen in the ae9x series Cheers
  22. According to the bosch listings, it uses the same 94-tooth belt as the 4a
  23. Howdy people. I'm Usually one to take things pretty lightly, but I need to rant. WGMG are posters (generally new ones) who can't seem to grasp the concept of the English language. Spelling, punctuation and grammar all seem to be thrown out the window, because they can't be bothered - It shits me! Yes we can all get slack from time to time, or we make minor mistakes, but seriously people, read the rules of posting before you post. (I mean no offence to those of us from non-English speaking countries. Your English and grammar is generally pretty damn good, and can put me to shame on most occasions  ). I'm also over the "Help Me" topics, where the question is so open ended, it makes a certain hotel heiress look like a grease-gun fitting. Please people, you can't seriously be that stupid. You come across like a 3 yo holding out their shoe for a parent to fold over the Velcro strap for you. it'd be nice for a change, for people to actually take 5 minutes writing their posts, in a thoughtful, well referenced manner, as to allow the rest of the community to actually answer the question properly.
  24. These routes sound familiar somehow...
