Agreed - I was wondering what happened to the ghost that was. will also follow this.

WOW! what a pick-up. Good luck with it mate - such a great idea that you didn't wreck it!

That looks great Adam! geeze, that thing would be a weapon (especially when you get on top of those shakedown gremlins)

I Have absolutely no idea. They did use that running gear in the rally prep corolla's of bates, didn't they? but that was in later models (ie, an e12?). But the wagon has a much flatter area aft of the rear seat line, to accommodate the live rear axle, and the leaf springs, compared to that of the sedans/hatch/seca

In Like Flynn. How much is the deposit, and when can I get it to you? In terms of the packaging, Port Fairy was great, but will they take us again (given they didn't like the look of us "non-local people, thus we mustn't be local, and if you're not local, then you have no business here")? Warnambool, or even Port Campbell? or stretch the route to Portland?

from the looks of some of the floorpan diagrams in the haynes manual i have, it'd take a) a fair bit of fabrication, b) a lot of dosh, and c) you'd have to revert back to a live rear axel, unless you stole the rear suspension from an MX5 or imprezza...

Spotted on Monday morning, a pretty straight KE16 heading south on Station St, in Thornbury.

ah, fine! Not much to update so far, due to most of the efforts lately going into the Nova. but I have been picking up parts here and there. So far, I have sourced most of a factory air conditioning (just need the mount and pump), larger calipers (Cheers Silverra23), a more period front end however, that uncovered some slight damage to the front left, that has been received at some stage. Also, I've managed to fix the starter button (you didn't need a key to allow you to turn over the engine). Outside of that, I'm investigating getting an SR dash for it, so that should be interesting. But will update when I get stuck in. Deadline to having it on the road, is 15th of Sept (2013 :P).

oooo...Nice pickup. The first of hopefully a family! if you need a hand at any stage, just give me a yell

Speaking from an engineering perspective, OMFG - THAT IS AWESEOME. Much respect to the design, the execution, and the finish.

I've had an Command AP60 fitted to my ae92 for 5 years, and its the best investment i've ever made on the car. I've had a couple of teething issues, with respect to some parts wearing out (due to the 150,000 odd kms I've covered with it fitted), where the cable actuator has clogged up, and the inline speed sensor fitted onto the speedo cable failed (apparently rare). I didn't fit the unit, got a instruments/auto electrician to fit it, however I'm willing to have a crack to fit it by myself, with the new car...

Congrats on the pickup - I did notice this on ebay too a week or two ago... good to hear its in reasonable knick.

Awwww...thats a shame. Such a good platform to start from too...

Haha....after all these years, year 12 chem came in handy, hahaha

CH3(CH2)6CH3 + O2 = CO2 + CO + H2O + C + Other crap, like Nitrogen oxides, and oxygen, sulphates, etc... Octane + Oxygen = Carbon Dioxide + Carbon Monoxide + Water + Carbon cbf balancing the above equation Aka, in the basic combustion process, water, carbon (soot) and noxious gases are produced. when the exhaust is cool, the exhaust vapour cools, and condenses, thus water vapour changes to liquid. Carbon (soot) and carbon monoxide are produced due to incomplete combustion, where the fuel doesn't have enough air to fully burn. This more readily occurs where the choke is engaged, but also during some normal running, especially under full throttle. unless the car is producing the same quantities of sooty liquid, when the car is warm, I really wouldn't worry. You also have to consider that carbon builds up in the engine, and exhaust pipes, which can come out in standard running too.

Have a read Trev's AE82

jus 150 for the gearbox. bumpers were pretty shot on both, as were the spare tailgate i believe. there was one drivers rear tail light, and apart from that a few interior fixtures... EDIT: tailgate was pretty straight actually - a little sirface rust here and there, but straight overall. dashes on both were pretty dead, but outside of that, as i said, bother were fairly complete

hahaha, you mean the water bed, Barry White cassettes, roll of prophylactics, and the pulling power of the van itself can't seal the deal? Ooo, on an update, and after fitting the ke30 front end, it turns out that i have 2 ke55 buckets, but there has been a small ding (as suspected) on that left hand corner, which has pushed the mounts back a little. So that'll need taking care of. Also, the trimming from a ke55e, is NOT the same shape as a ke30 trim, so will need to source that, but ah well...in time.

thanks Chris!...no comment...

OOOO...crushed red velvet, buttoned goodness...although it'd be a little squishy with that much padding...but thanks for the ideas. i'm still to fiddle with the load area. I need a camera too, so i can start taking/uploading pics...

Wreckers on Baccus March Rd, Corio 2 KE36 windowed panos - 1 missing a tailgate and rear glass, one with a k50 (asked, apparently they're chasing 150 for it), bodies are rooted on both... 1 KE55E Sedan, without factory aircon (score!), dash pretty average, a few fittings and fixtures still avail. 1 KE50 Sedan, errr...bits and pieces still there, but didn't tax much from it 1 RWD Mazda 121 coupe...pretty cool looking ride, body seemed alright too, outside of the fact it was sitting atop another car...

Nice pics adam...some good action shots of that Model A...with transverse leaf springs :)

Front Ok, from the top, the top hats are different between struts, but Twincam items will fit fine, or you can use the top hat from a SOHC. Bolt holes are pre drilled, so this will be a straight bolt up item. supposedly, you can also inverse the SOHC top hat to use the rear bolt hole, and this apparently gives you more camber. The top spring seat is different between Twincam and SOHC so once again, Twincam items are desirable, or you could use ae92 items. The springs...well, you can use any springs up to an ae101 with the Twincam strut, but the SOHC springs are narrower (and I believe slightly longer). The strut is the same for Twincam and the base ae92 models however, the SX/GTi struts are the ones you want, because they are 10mm shorter and use a larger diameter damper. The hubs are also different between SOHC and Twincam, where Twincam uprights (where they meet the strut) are thicker, and the bolt holes are larger than the SOHC. Thus you CANNOT fit a Twincam/ae92 strut to an SOHC upright. The thing I am unaware of however (and I have asked questions) is, is there any difference between the mounting positions of an ae92 upright, compared to that of a Twincam item? If there isn't, one would think you could almost adopt an ae92 front end, to the SOHC top hat. Rear Like the front, where you'd need to retain the factory top hats, the SOHC and Twincam models are the same. I have also again asked questions, as to if it is possible to fit an AE92 rear end to an AE82, where apparently it is, but you need a grinder, and the lower control arms. By doing an AE92 rear end conversion, there are possibilities to use Koni/many coilovers, and all will bolt up nicely.
