Micks Fj20 Conversion Into Ke30 Sedan.
Rollaboy2608 replied to radrollaz's topic in Engine Conversions
Hey Trent I actually used Lovells nolathane bushes in mine, they were an exact fit, buggered if I can find the part number now, and they work a treat. In NSW, Production Undacar Warehouse at Kingswood sells them, they have alot of good stuff -
No doubt it would be awesome...I suppose anything is acceptable if your budget allows it... it would most likely be a front runner in the sports sedan class, or you may be able to register it as an Individually Constructed Vehicle with the proper engineering applied.. I'm getting all wet just contemplating this haha

hmmm I oviously need to do more reading on rotas haha thanks man! Update: Wikipedia...a great source of info on just about anything. I am now a little more schooled in rotor physics

Thats because a 13B has a total capacity of 2.6L, its a twin rotor which is 1.3L per housing I had a mate that put a CA18 turbo in a KE20, damn it was a few years ago now, wish I had taken some pics of it, it was yellow with 17in simmons on it. Number plates were something like whytry. The conversion was a lengthy one, and cost him about 10 G's through a local performance shop. i remember the plates now.. it was PLZTRY

the idea is a top one, but as most have commented on this topic, it really depends on what you want to use it for. It maybe fine for a drag application, but any sort of track work, you may as well forget about it

most places that sell auto paint can mix it to match the manufacturers code. Although being the fact that the car is 30 years old the code might be hard to match

fair enough point, although with a late model, high tech option such as this, price would definitely become a factor I reckon. Also would they make a RWD box for those? there from a camry yeah?
-
That'll do it!!! :lolcry:

thats preety common with turbo 700 boxes, having said that, they are normally pretty bulletproof. Are you towing with it? that can cause premature failure quite easily. The Ecotec engines ran real hot to keep emissions down. They also run a special coolant because of this

4age 20 Valve Silvertop Ticking
Rollaboy2608 replied to ae92_20valverolla's topic in General Mechanical
Well eventually your VVT may stop working, so probably better to replace it than not. I used to work with a jap mechanic, who did alot of performance stuff, and he always swore by TODA for 4AGE stuff -
if you want the thing to turn a corner, I wouldnt even bother with a V6, unless you're prepared to cut the firewall back and mount the engine further back like a sports sedan, to help redistribute the weight. Put a solid 2L turbo motor in it and it will go just as hard, and handle like it should... maybe 3SGTE?? keep it Toyota!!!!!

I had my dash sprayed a sandy colour by a dash mob. I must admit the colour came out pretty good, it was just that they did a real sloppy job with the application of both paint and vinyl

whenever the car is moving, you certainly have air flowing through that cooler, because thats what it is designed for, whether there is a radiator in front of it or not. When the car is at a standstill, if the temp gets hot enough, the fan should cut in anyways. By having a tranny oil cooler your really doing the tranny a favour either way, so I wouldnt worry about a fan for it!

If your in Sydney, Sideshows Performance Wiring has a Hilux with the 1U in it, pretty straight forward, goes about as good as a Hilux with a 5L commie in it. Sideshow is a good bloke

TODA pulleys are an excellent upgrade. That ticking is pretty much factory on all 20V -
Who Runs Positive Offset Wheels On There Ke?
Rollaboy2608 replied to flat out's topic in Automotive Discussion
yeah I do, although they have caused me a few dramas. Mine are 17's, and because they shift the load point on the wheel bearing, my bearings are shot. Also as mine are 17's, I need real thick spacers for the front. Once I get some time, I will fix this as I find it dangerous. It was kind of a stop gap solution at the time. Also the wide front track makes the car follow the grooves in the road alot more. -
Will Ke70 Lower Control Arms Fit My Ke30
Rollaboy2608 replied to ke55_rolla's topic in General Mechanical
I'm pretty sure I read somewhere on this forum that XT130 arms create positive camber in KE30 rollas? sorry I'm talking about my car as I'm thinking of doing the strut/brake upgrade -
you see some of these cars and makes you realise how pissy some of your own efforts are hehe the man hours that go into some these beauties must be mind boggling

Will Ke70 Lower Control Arms Fit My Ke30
Rollaboy2608 replied to ke55_rolla's topic in General Mechanical
well how do you know if you can get the steering geometry correct? I would have thought that would be a fairly important part of the process -
deja vu hehe I think this guy has too much time on his hands

Well said dude... The rover V8 is a hidden gem, plus their are stacks of aftermarket parts available for them, if you look in the right places of course...
-
Also by spacing the wheel you are placing more load on wheel bearings, as you are changing the point at which they carry the load.. I know because I have spacers on my car, and the bearings quickly wore out on both sides after they were fitted. If I wasnt so lazy I would modify the suspension so the wheels would fit properly, but thats what I am..lazy!

cutting springs bad! lowered springs are quite cheap...you might also find that 15x7 on a KE30-55, once lowered, will hit on the spring seat...not totally sure but it might be an issue...
-
I did my conversion on a KE30, and the sump had to be modified quite a bit. Also the engine mounts had to be shimmed otherwise it wouldnt bolt up. Anyone who says its bolt in is lieing! I also found out the hard way that the 7K fly and clutch, although it will fit, doesnt drive well at all, and requires mods to bellhousing. I also had to disconnect the heater, as the hoses and fitting were different sizes, and also had impossible bends in them

just out of interest, will the GH Sikma arms fit XT130 struts?
