  1. Man I love it when you get fired up Rolla_Boy, you really kick some arse, and I totally agree. Each to their own I say
  2. a cylinder leakdown test will give you a definite indication of where the burning oil is coming from. It may also indicate worn rings, which, while unlikely, could be causing the piston to slap around a bit. That little bit of extra clearance can make a big difference at higher rpm. Otherwise I'd just pull the head off and take a look, doesnt take much to change the head gasket on a K motor
  3. yeah they are, and for sentimental reasons, i really want to go in some old Rolla's, since its the only thing I have a say in. It looks bad though, cos i just can't find a tidy car with AC. Its not something thats exactly high on the priority list for most. Thanks puzzleman, our cake is supplied, so thats ok. Definitely looking for a photographer though. Send me some of your work, and some prices, and we'll see what we can organise
  4. Or you could ask Styler, who has a wealth of information. Thanks mate hehe
  5. This is one of the nicest shaped Corolla's Toyota ever released I reckon. Looks trick man, good luck with the transplant, I have a 7K in my KE30 and you'll definitely notice the difference
  6. Research is a great thing. If you had checked, you would know that this motor is a 2L, but is also turboed, so you require a formula which I can't remember, but is readily available on this forum, to figure out the true capacity of this engine in relation to the weight of the vehicle. We seem to get the same questions on this forum over and over, when the information is all there if you SEARCH!!!!!!
  7. Agreed, its just like some of these import skylines and the like that come here with under 100k on the clock. Gimme a break! everyone knows the japanese keep all the good cars, and send the old, high km cars over!
  8. Given the fact that he is in the ACT that doesnt really apply here. Do some more research, there are plenty of rollas out there with rotaries in them. As for your 4k, double that and you should have enough to do the conversion properly. A standard 12A is not very powerful, to gain any benefit from this conversion, you would really need to do some work to this motor to get it moving. Unless you are planning on turboeing it, start with a platform that already has more power from the start such as the myriad of Nissan motors available or from Toyota for that matter.
  9. whats with all the repeat posters tonite? take your finger off the button
  10. hey guys, I have one car who has graciously offered his services. I still need one car with AC, now open to offers from other models rather than just Corolla, but it must be old school, preferably pre 1980. Please if you know anyone or have a vehicle yourself, reply or PM me. Many thanks, Nathan
  11. if you want new, you'll have to go to the trimmer in your area. You could get one from a wreckers, just don't forget the metal rods for shaping of the lining
  12. hmmm everyone knows Corolla owners can walk on water haha!! 8/
  13. I'm the NSW Business Development Manager for a company that manufactures Drive By Wire cruise controls for the aftermarket. That is, vehicles that don't have it as an option from the factory (there are over 60 models, many Toyotas!) We also make battery management systems
  14. Hey all. Some may call it fortunate, others unfortunate (me sometimes) but the handbrake has finally convinced me to tie the knot with her(around my neck probably) Being an avid Corolla fan, and having a fairly extensive network to call upon, I'm putting out a call for a couple of members to supply their vehicles as wedding cars for the day. Just a couple of points. At least one of the cars must have AC, as apparently the warpaint will melt off the face of the missus without AC. Preferably both cars will have AC The cars must be of exceptional standard, I don't care about the engine, but it needs to be immaculate from the outside Please, if you have a half finished project and you THINK it might be finished in the next decade, no need to apply, I need cars that are already running, and reliable. The wedding is on the 24th of January 2009. The reason I am putting out the call now, is because the handbrake wants to be organised, and if I regrettably need to hire cars from other sources, apparently this needs to be done ASAP I will pay of course for fuel and other related expenses, this I will negotiate with the chosen cars. Hope I get a good response from you guys, as I am dreading the thought of turning up in a Pink Cadillac or some other boat type vehicle. Cheers, Nathan PS I will need to see a photo and meet with the drivers before the wedding to discuss arrangements etc
  15. could u swap it with one you know works? quick and easy check
  16. except that carbon fibre is about 20 times stronger than fibreglass and in most cases lighter in its simplest form...so they arent really similiar at all actually
  17. add to that, anyone who has ever driven a Nissan V6 will tell you, its one of the smoothest, pleasurable motors you'll ever sample.
  18. Knowing the practices employed by some tyre and mechanical shops out there, sometimes this means nothing. Some fitters never balance wheels properly, and if you're using cheap rims and/or tyres, and stick on weights in some cases, you have buckleys chance of getting the balance spot on
  19. hopefully I'll have my car back from the bloody panel beaters by then, he's already had it for 2 months, I would really like to make this one. PBeaters never seem to be able to work to a schedule
  20. 'tas_ae71' date='Dec 19 2007, 12:16 PM' post='215798'] cheap, fast, reliable. Pick two. Thats gotta be a nominee for quote of the year I reckon
  21. best to put an ad in the wanted to buy section, cos noone will see this request in here
  22. would be worth looking at I would imagine, it would only be a length issue rather than width, you may just need a extra rod or two
  23. soapy water is better cos you can see it bubbling, if you don't have a mechanics ear you'll hardly notice Aerostart or carb clean
  24. I spose if your half decent at fab work you could make something up, and it may take you a few goes to get it looking exactly right, and if you do, be sure to document it and put it on the forum, cos I'm sure there are a few rollas out there with headliner bits missing.
