  1. erm just paint it. some people use a grease to stop the hose binding to the bottom outlet which would also stop it rusting but yeah no galvanising as far as i have seen, custom alloy yes but no electroplating at all. or new radiator for $230 or so or $300 recore in 3 row.
  2. you will need a new driveline and new brake setup which also are big jobs... have you done a budget on the whole project, it can add up quick :y: as they say speed, reliability and cost... pick any 2. i think the ca18det is a good choice for legal power/weight requirements, cheap to buy and for parts, it does have some characteristic problems but so do a lot of motors. it makes a fair bit of power stock and can make loads of power cheaply, just have to make the rest of the car to suit the power which can be expensive.
  3. about $300, thats full recondition, recore and respray. i also got a bung welded in for a temp sensor for my thermofan which was about $10, i just had to find a popular thread for it out of the tridon catalogue so i had a wide range of sensor temperatures avaliable to me. tridon catalogue from toymods also i got the drain cock down the bottom welded up for $10 and ill just pull off the hose off to drain as i don't want it coming undone or breaking up as its old plastic, but new ones are avaliable. drain cocks from nice products also out of interest a new ke20 radiator goes for about $230, its standard 2 row.
  4. i found getting the original recored in 3 row was the best option, factory fit. bigger radiators from other cars didnt get the extra airflow and had to custom mounted.
  5. $10000 base to $20000 full resto total for ke20 with sr20det non road reg diy yourself all tools / skills $10000 base to $20000 full resto total for ke20 with ca18det road reg diy yourself all tools / skills add $15000 for drive in / drive out from workshop. a rough idea of what you may want done: motor halfcut rwd engine conversion (might be needed) custom mounts engine / custom mounts gearbox gearbox tunnel replacement (might be needed) shifter relocation (might be needed) gearbox tailshaft wiring diff lsd stud pattern conversion aftermarket ecu engine tuning rust removal, new metal welded in bodywork wheels and tyres new paint new car components steering / suspension seats turbo new / reco / highflow intercooler setup / boost controller / bov (if wanted) brake upgrade new interior sound system (if wanted) suspension springs / shocks / coilovers (if wanted) yeah easy $10000 to $20000...
  6. try blowing down that line going into your fuel tank and see if its blocked. else pump works - wired properly and flows correctly, lines are clear after pump, its self priming, tank connected correctly... i can't see why it wouldnt work?
  7. 2 inch for NA stock 2 1/4 inch NA performance 2 1/2 inch turbo 3 inch turbo performance something like that.
  8. cheers felix, will add that modification info. soon all states will be under ncop (starting next year?) and i think those modification limits are the same as the qld motor vehicle modifications stated there. ke25 stock rim are 12x4, will measure up offset sometime
  9. hey trying to suss out all the ke corolla factory wheel specs, have got various specs off the net and off tyre shops databases but they seem to vary a bit and we may have to take wheels off our cars and measure them to get the real deal. the reason for this is that it would be useful to know as the legally specs can be only changed by a certain amount and also going too far interferes with clearance and turning as well as handling. a list to do so far: ke10 ke11 ke15 ke17 ke20 ke25 ke30 ke55 ke70
  10. too true :D applies to diffs too. also if access is limited or difficult to refill then get a friend to hold a length of hose going outside the car and a funnel held high for quick oil feed and just watch it until it overflows. or fill up by removing gearstick and pour through funnel, you will need to know the gearbox capacity though or use a friend to check when filler hole starts flowing out. (make sure car is in neutral otherwise gearstick can be difficult to remove and refit)
  11. spacers are illegal in most states.
  12. x2 for the gtx2 oil, not bad stuff for an average motor.
  13. semi lsd with a plate/spring type insert jap spec diffs (banjo) have a factory lsd option from a kp starlet.
  14. get new shocks and add a leaf to your pack to stiffen it up. and don't hit big bumps at speed :P
  15. good old pepper pots, strong rims.
  16. yes, ke25 can be had new at around $120 per side.
  17. sure is, most times its like magic some of the work that can be done on rim repairs and it can be done economically if the rims are worth something. on occassion the rim can be buckled or cracked beyond a reasonable repair cost compared to a replacement rim or set though. those look like late 90's aftermarket rims, probably not made anymore so chance of finding one the same size, width, pcd and offset is slim unless OEM but they don't look it.
  18. id recommend you check out different types of pumps and regulators as well as brands and specific models, it can make a big difference and some types/brands/models are notorious for pressure and flow problems and sometimes pulsating.
  19. don't go too modern, because your hektik pimpin shadow chrome spinners will be fulli sik at first then after a few weeks you will realise it doesnt really suit the rest of the car without chameleon paint and an array of 15 inch subs.
  20. yeah no need to smash it and make a mess, use a knife to cut the old seal out and get inside and push out with your feet as evenly as you can.
  21. 5k swap is going to be way easier, cheaper and more reliable than turbo 3k conversion.
  22. ebay - gem parts or toymods or the celica spares shop can't remember its name though.
  23. sure will grab one tomorrow in the daytime.
  24. i have that strip as stock factory trim, will probably get rid of it though for the smooth look though. I'm not sure but you may be able to buy a similar replacement strip from another type of car and put it on.
  25. what redwarf said - check the engine. also diff gearing can have a big influence.
