  2. Awesome +3! Will also be looking for this at Toyotafest. How did the import go logistically? Often see assorted halfcuts at Aaron's, curious to know how a full car for certifiction goes.
  3. That's fair enough. I only know them through my regular dealings and pickups. And as I said, the estimates have been fine. I have had adjustments both ways, sometimes the figure decreases, sometimes increases. Aaron is not a friend or anything. If you have been given particular pricings, then I think you are entitled to be upset. But you clearly need to wait on the outcome of your discussion here. If you are having these shipped by container, clearly you need to factor in additional shipping from Melb to Adelaide. Make sure you advise us of the final outcome
  4. Not necessarily. The cost estimate you receive initially is totally dependent on the Category you choose for postage / shipping. Even then it is just an estimate. You can't reasonably expect to know what EMS charges are going to be if having them sent airmail. If they will be going into the container, Aaron is very good at giving you a good idea of container charges if you ask directly. I hjave bought a lot of stuff through them, big and small. In my experience cost variations have been small, as long as I have been reasonable in deciding on the appropriate category for shipping. Rather than slag them off as you have here, why don't you contact them and find out why.
  5. Import Monster charges can add up, but you get what you pay for. Search in Japlish, bid in real time, faultless shipping either via EMS or container.
  6. Gun wash and a plastic scraper did the job. But make sure you have a respirator or you will die.
  7. I use a Toyota scissor jack to lift the car high enough to get the trolley jack in. And there is no way I would ever put myself anywhere near under the car whilst going up or down on the jack. Never had a problem with cheapo jacks in nearly 30 years, other than them losing their lift after 5-10 years when they get replaced..
  8. I have got by on little jacks for ever. Always done the job, but eventually the seals go and they are not repairable. Lifts cars no worries. Big proper jack would be lovely, but couldn't really use it in my confined area, and I would keep falling over it when not in use
  9. The SL is KE20, 25 SL May 1970 - to August 71 It goes on the front fender under the corolla badge. I'm pretty certain the deluxe badge isn't for a Corolla on the basis of the 2 at the start of the second number. Haven't quite worked out the intracacies of Toyota part numbers, but it would be a 1 if it was for a Corolla
  10. http://www.nardi-personal.com/page.php?pageid=PHOME001&sid=undefined Ask them. I am sure they will be interested in where you got it if it is indeed a fake.
  11. I'd be checking out New Zealand. Suss out trademe.co.nz for some inspiration
  12. Why not just send it back to Performance Ignition and get them to overhaul it? Could also check it has the optimal advance curve. http://www.performanceignition.com.au/
  13. Post up the part numbers and I'l see what I can find. The SL badge I think I have seen on something.
  14. What a guy, goes outside, pulls out diff centre, takes photo - just for dbr11k!
  15. There actually was a TRD LSD available for an S series but incredibly rare for all the reasons you can imagine. I have no idea what that is, but doesn't look like a stock S series centre? Could it be one of those tayell automotive thingies?
  16. Err, the TE27 arms you decided to put off ending up going to Crostek for $USD70, including post........ According to the aftermarket catalogue, KE30, 55, 70, TE72, AE71 & AE86 are all BJ145. KE2x are BJ113 You need to actively search around the US for these, as they are worth nothing whereas in japan they are expensive. Same as Agius's engine crossmember which I sourced via a guy in Puerto Rico Edit: The aftermarket catalogue has no detail on taper or length of pins, though of course the KE20 and TE27 pin diameter is smaller than the BJ145
  17. I'm just gently razzing you. My kids believe in spy elves, especially if they think they won't get presents.
  18. Just looked up a gun wash. Dichloromethane Methanol Aromatic hydrocarbons Ketones Surfactants Ammonia Toxic by inhalation and if swallowed Harmful Possible risks of irreversible effects Excellent! Should do the job.
  19. I'm also having a hell of a time getting the glue from the protector strips of my AE86, despite heat gun, acetone etc. Am I missing something here?
  20. Maybe it was Santa's spy elves. They are real you know. Watching all the time to see if you are naughty or nice. Perhaps they were putting away Elf surveillance equipment and dropped some of it.
  21. Puerto Rico is a looong way away
  22. Woops sorry guys! Wrong link!! Was meant to be this one for KE1x idler arm bushes http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Toyota-Corolla-1966-1970-Superpro-Front-Idler-Arm-Bush-SPF0686K-/190602339462?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item2c60c8e486
  23. Will I make it, or not.... Not coming to anymore of these things without a Toyota, it's too embarrassing
  24. On the compression stroke
  25. Pop up a photo Dave. I think I know the ones you mean, but more likely to find them if we know for sure. Look forward to seeing some pics and info of the finished article
