could the drums be oversized too much? they will slowly wear from the inside out, but i'd imagine they're pretty thin if that is the case. maybe the wrong cylinders to suit drum diameter? could it be wrong drum diameter to shoes? ? were there different listings for the jap vs borg diff? just ideas...

i agree with tas ae71, i measured up a celica diff, and found it within millimetres to be the same as *e7* diff. the MAJOR difference i found was the panhard rod mount was about 90mm further away than ke70. apart from that, the housing will fit, but the upper and lower links are slightly off, so the bushes are constantly stressed. ( and therefore will flog out quickly) -dave

i tried removing some the other day. the plastic is very hard to extract without cracking it. i have the proper tool to get it out, but the rubber is usually so brittle it is near impossible. best to cut the old rubber seal to get the plastic trim out. best o luck. -dave

Harry, Firstly, i'm assuming your handbrake is off. if it isn't, you will need to put it in the down position. If you know how to adjust the handbrake from inside the car, you should make it as slack as possible to try to get the drum back on. If this doesn;t help, you will most likely need to take out the adjusting mechanism that looks like a strange bolt that goes between the two shoes and wind it in to its shortest length. then you should be able to put the shoes back into thei normal position and put the drum back on. if you are wanting to drive the car with effective brakes later, you will need to adjust the brakes once the drum is back on. If you don't know how to do all of this, i would suggest googling the subject, or searching on youtube. best of luck. -dave
