Do I Need To Run My Battery Earth Straight To The Block?New Problem :(
ae824ate replied to Alexrx7's topic in Car Electrical
Yep, that should work fine if they are good clean contacts. -
Its just a re-grind, 292* duration, .474" lift, lots of brap
-
Wow, tighe charged me $200 incl postage for my grind. And $5 per lifter to be faced and heat treated. What are the specs on it? Nice work man.
-
Never mind my rambling. But always work off a dynamic CR. Especially with a different cam. My tighe 150A has an intake valve closing/sealing @ 71 deg abdc, and a loss of static volume. Work off and calculate from the dynamic CR, not the assumed static CR. I'm sure most of you guys know all of this. Thanks to philbey for this link, please read it. http://www.empirenet.com/pkelley2/DynamicCR.html

A good welder, grinder + cutting discs, sheet metal, primer + paint, and some SKILL. Properly getting rid of rust isn't as easy as slapping some bog over it. Take it to bare healthy metal and fix from there, if you are able to.
-
I have been waiting for this  I hope it was all well documented lol. Ill say it too, he/we are not criticizing or singeling out ANYONE. Good job on her so far Zowie!

Fuel coming out of the exhaust?? Are you having alot of detonation of unburnt fuel in the exhaust? Banging, popping spitting and farting? Something must be super duper wrong if you are having problems as bad as you say.
-
OMFG, that.....is.....beautiful!!!!! Love your work man, really great!

I have a choice of 3 of them, 2 3k manuals, and 1 4k manual. Will be having a look at them soon. If i had the money Rob, i'd buy yours right now, sadly i don't

Google is simply wonderful! 3k +/- 60HP. 4k +/- 60-65HP. Suprisingly a 4k wont give you much if anything over a 3k. This is all copied from wikipedia, and here is the link. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toyota_K_engine 3KThe 8-valve OHV 1.2 L (1,166 cc) 3K was produced from 1969 through 1977. Cylinder bore was 75 mm (2.95 in) and stroke was 66 mm (2.6 in). 3K 60hp at 6000rpm. 3K-BR 84hp at 6600rpm. 3K-B 97hp at 6600rpm (compression ratio of 10 and 9). The 1969 through 1975 3K-B was a twin-carb version. The California-spec 3K-C (1977-1979) and 3K-H were other available versions. Applications: Toyota Corolla Toyota Starlet Daihatsu Charmant Toyota Kijang/First Generation Toyota Tamaraw [edit] 4KThe 1.3 L (1,290 cc) 4K was produced from 1978 through 1989. Cylinder bore was 75 mm (2.95 in) and stroke was 73 mm (2.87 in). It was a 8-valve OHV engine. In 1980, the 4K produced 60 hp (45 kW) at 5250 RPM. From 1982 through 1984, output was 65 hp (48 kW) at 5600 RPM and 72 ft·lbf (97 N·m) at 3600 RPM. The 1981 and 1982 California-spec 4K-C produced 58 hp (43 kW) at 5200 RPM and 67 ft.lbf (90 Nm) at 3600 RPM. Torque was up to 74 ft·lbf (100 N·m) at 3400 RPM for the fuel injected 1982 through 1984 4K-E. The Japan-spec 4K-U produced 74 hp (55 kW) at 5600 RPM and 78 ft·lbf (105 N·m) at 3600 RPM in 1982.

:y: The front of the rails are bent, also creasing in the wheel arches etc. It wont be worth my time and money repairing her. Radiator, guards, beaver panel, bumper, lights, grill, bonnet, fan shroud, heaps of other shit i can't think of, then all of the straightening etc. I possibly have another 30/55 lined up. Waiting to hear from a mate of a mate.
-
Nah man, it was on West st, near Stephen st. Half my fault i guess, shouldnt have been following him. Dickhead drivers just really get to me! Its breaking my heart stripping her down :(
-
:( Thinking of using the engine/box in a go kart. PM me if you need parts, may have a sale thread starting soon. Cheers, Luke :jamie:

She is pretty f@$ked. But the good part is........Oh, nah its all bad. She is f@$ked. Pics in the morning.
-
Crashed the car tonight, long story. More than likely will be parting her out. The car i loved is smashed because of a dimwitted little pre-pubescent c**t being a f@$kin hero. I'm a very very sad panda.
-
Hell yeah! Managed to score some Twin 40mm sidedraft Dellorto's off ebay, which will be getting split between myself and a mate (Nerfbat on here). Got them for a steal, and Zowie already has the single sidey manifold to slap on. Ill be making one myself i think.

Thats right. The downside is to get gaskets and diaphragms i have to get them from the car manufacturer, as weber wont have them (apparently). I ended up buying some gasket paper and a new hole punch set and made my own. The base is the same as 32/36 variants, so are the jets and emulsion tubes, but not much else. The needle itself looks to be in great nick, i will have a good look and clean it up again tomorrow.
-
Nah Taz, its different. I spoke to a bloke at a performance shop yesterday, and he has never seen or heard of them. Having troubles today with a sticking needle and fuel filter. Will get it all sorted though.
-
Updatage! Got around to fitting the weber yesterday, and found out they are as rare as hens teeth. It isnt a 32/36, its slightly smaller, and apparently came of an early peugeot or alfa romeo. Its a "dac11", don't have the other numbers atm. Weber made these for a few car manufacturers for performance. Makes a friggin huge difference on the trusty 4K!!! Pulls like a 14 year old until about 6500, instant throttle response and shitloads more torque. Turned out to be very well suited to a 1300-1600cc donk. Still need to organize jets for it, and I'm still awaiting the arrival of my cam  Repco, and all engine builders i have contacted in Tbar can't get 3/4k lifters, so ill be getting them from Tighe too, and new springs from Comp cams. I'm hoping to get into match porting my spare 4k head soon, and get it milled to a suited CR for the 291* cam, and other shizzle. Ive done most of the maths with the expected valve seating and *Dynamic CR*, thanks for your help Philbey!! Pics will be up shortly, bloody pouring rain here atm.

I don't really see why it would? Apart from fuel vapour in the tank getting out. The more it is splashed around, the more evapourates. Positive you don't have any leaks? Anywhere?
-
The smell will most likely be coming from the ventilation line. I ran mine into the bottom of the air filter housing to stop the smell or build up of vapours.
-
Do you have the original charcoal canister hooked up still? There is a fuel tank vetilation line running into it, maybe check that.
-
Got the window and mirror fixed today, thanks again Rob! And Zowie, you're a top bloke! My cam should be here early this week, will get prices on new lifters, order a set of crow cams springs, do a bit of maths and work out compression ratios, and get a quote on head facing. Also really need to get my weber sorted out and ready to run. Just don't get as mush time as i'd like. Itll get there.

Yep. Ive had 1 car stolen, our mini foxi/jack russel stolen twice, fuel and tools stolen from the back yard, attempts of break ins a few times, constant abuse/noise/shit from the murrys. We are looking at moving now, we have had enough.
