  1. hey mate, get a billet axle for it, cut axles are not real strong. being an r31 diff you should (hopefully) have one factory axle and one that is a cut and re-spline. You should be ok with the factory one, but at least replace the cut down one with billet with your amount of powers. Call altra nine in caboolture he is really good, approx 400-500 for one axle i think. He also does tailshafts, full cro-mo whatever you want.
  2. thanks heaps jordan, its been a long time but i think i have it just how i want it now. cheers. btw, you got the skills. carlos, the padding will have sewn covers, i bought the beige velcro, just finishing touches for later. mick, cheers mate, you definately know about clean engine bays, nice photo shoot!
  3. had to dig to find this thread! so... the previous list is all done. found a good second hand chrome bonnet strip (thanks massively to a local forum member). Also got front bumper rechromed, was really lucky to have a overrated one here to use. Got some custom spark leads made to suit my setup, the sr20de ones i was using had the wrong ends at the coil and were very temporary. Fixed the oil leaks, one from the timing chain tensioner, and one from the sump, so i put a new sump pan on. Found a good second hand column switch (thanks massively to a local forum member), all the lights and stuff work finally! I made this little cover for the pod filter, the police get stupid over pod filters around here, so out of sight is a good thing. Also got some nice legit wheels for street cruising, they are 15x7 +11, so not jdm hectik dorifto spec, they sit nice on the car. they were pretty dull and showing their age when i got them, and although very few ding and rash they took me two days to sand and polish and repaint, ect. At least i got to spin them on the lathe to sand and polish the outers so not pure elbow grease!
  4. just noticed this thread, some nice work there, will be a fun little car.
  5. The 3.8 moo would very likely be legal, the car is heavy enough. 1g is a waste of time as well and would barely make more powers than a later moo motor. 1j, 2j would be more worthwhile.
  6. don't bother trying cooroy wreckers, ive already tried there. almost every newer lancer has 15" steelies and 114.3 stud pattern if you need donar centres to make rims, the offset is no good for rwd. Go to any tire shop and they have an abundance of lancer rims. I think the shop in bris is called 'racecar engineering' that makes rims and sells outers to make your own, about $60 each for 8" outers.
  7. I haven't heard the passenger side mirror thing before. Yeh the speedo drive from an earlier datsun gearbox will allow the factory cable ke to plug in. don't forget the hydrolic clutch, although pretty easy with ke70.
  8. I think you just answered your own question. I agree with that howl being pretty cool, something that is pretty unmistakeable! my supercharged pajero, hear that howl!
  9. auto, yep now we're getting serious, my favorite update.
  10. yep borgwarner 78 (falcon, commodore, r31) , or hilux diff. hilux diff would be cheaper to handle that sort of power, oke20 runs a spooled hilux diff without billet axels, has 1200++hp.
  11. Yep you're right, as long as people aren't idiots, problem is that applys to both parties, if 1 in every 100 coppers is an idiot, i would hate to meet that one with that much power, it seems people have been. I have seen police at the kawana event a few times, although only as a result of people being idiots. I am scared i admit it, its pretty much the only reason my car is not regoed yet.
  12. I honestly doubt there would be anyone there, with the new anti-car laws and the way they are being abused the qld car scene is dead.
  13. A 3mm head gasket in a 4agze for example would take the compression down to approx 7.4:1. Now if you went to 3mm thicker than factory , like you claim, then the compression ratio would be approx 7:1, the car would barely start. Going from a .8 head gasket to a 1.2 would take your from approx 8.9:1, down to 8.6:1. Or from .8 down to a .6 would take you from approx 8.9:1 up to 9.1:1. Seems significant to me.
  14. I am aware of this, but have no use for either contraption on my own cars, so therefore have no said contraptions. Head gasket thickness can alter compression ratios a fair bit, best do your research reed.
  15. reed your welcome to come over and put my wideband on it, would be a good idea to check the afrs. you will need a spare bung in your dump pipe, and a working cigarette lighter though.
  16. thanks mate, radiator is custom so no help sorry. I will have to do an upload/ update soon......
  17. so close man! cheers reed but yeh only 15" fit on the front, was pretty keen to run some stock looking steelies but no luck so I might have to sort out the old sigma wheels I have around here somewhere.
  18. I have been working through getting this ready for rego. A few things to sort out. boot latch sorted, the lock is usually on the boot, rather than the car. 1.Roll café padding is all done. 2.I had problems with the wipers and lights, found it to be in the column switch, ordered a new chinese one off ebay but its faulty, so waiting on another one. 3. swapped dissy over for the cas, and set timing up correctly. 4. removed and remounted shifter, was moving too much. 5. rear chrome and NOS parts added. PARTS ORDERED: 1. Another column switch to get all lights wipers ect working 2. Ebay sump pan, custom one has crap flange that leaks. 3. custom spark leads to suit coil location. 4. front bumper in getting rechromed, everything else has been done so why not. STILL TO SORT: 1. find a chrome bonnet strip 2. some stealth looking wheels to pass rwc and use on the street.
  19. hey thanks man, I didn't see your reply earlier, looks like your well on your way to your goals with some pretty decent times. Dropped the rola off to a spray painter on tuesday of this week for a doors closed respray, I rubbed it all back, they did the mask, spray and clean. Picked it back up on Friday. the car is now one colour, turned out really nice, enthusiasm is high. Will reassemble in the coming week, I should be able to create a short list now and get serious about some rego, first on the list is an oil leak on the engine, then pad roll cage, then get my brother here to help me get it running better for rego.
  20. Yeh, I wouldn't worry too much about the numbers, two different brands of dyno's, ect ect, they are just there for tuning. will be good to get it to the 1/4 when it opens again, your mph will give you an accurate figure.
  21. A 3rz would have to be non turbo to be legal in a ke30/55, without boost it just doesn't sound that exciting to be honest.
  22. yeh good call, if an engineer doesn't want to know you, I'm sure someone on the corolla forum can pass it for you. Is it school holidays again already?
  23. um, ring an engineer. not quite as easy as posting on a corolla website, but pretty close......
  24. wow it still looks that good underneath! very nice mate.
