  1. Shoulds like the lighters power has just been disconnected. Surely you could work which wires are supposed to connected to it from what plugs it uses?
  2. If you have just find it over some more with your foot flat on the throttle. That'll clear her out. :jamie:
  3. Good work Luke! :jamie: If your point aren't actually opening at the moment another thing to check may be the felt pad which is the bit that runs on the square shaft Luke explained. If this felt pad hasn't been lubricated properly (it should be greased up when installed) then they can actually snap off. This will cause to points to not open and you won't get any spark to the engine at all.
  4. Yeah I find a 12 a bit hard to believe also but the guy reckons he had slips for WSID or somewhere. IIRC Radrollaz took some pics of it at the dragway one night, you might be able to find them or just PM him. Running slicks to try and acheive a 12 is one thing, but I can't see any stock corolla diff really holding up to it. 12's are also bloody quick. Have you ever had your VL at the dragway? If so what did that run?
  5. Hmm probably should have mentioned that. Subaru should have also just made all there turbo's cars twin turbo. :jamie:
  6. yeah..... right. But. Have a read on the ANDRA website (or somewhere else) about how "dial in" racing works. Ie nomiate a time and try and stick to it. You wouldn't believe how much fun it is trying to get to the line first when you've got a much faster car screaming up behind you, or you are the much faster car trying to catch up before the line. Theoretically the slower your car is, the better your chances of winning a round actually are cause you're more consistant. Google Melissa Argee!
  7. So this isn't a daily then? You know I love rotors but I'd never have a J-port for anything but a track or weekend only fun car. Think of it as a road car with a MASSIVE cam shaft in it. You do know what a J port is? There's other issues about them that make them nearly a race only motor..... like blocking up and grinding out water jackets.
  8. Yeah I think what he was referring to was the fact he never port matched the 7ke manifold to the head like I did. There's a few little things about my build that are a bit better, but I've just never ran as much boost as he did. I don't think a 12 would be all that hard in a KE10 with the correct gearing and tyre size, but it would probably be pushing it in a 3X-5X. Mind you there was a K series turbo setup for sale on ebay last year, which was apparently on a 3k they the guy reckons ran a 12. Think he was a member on here but never comes on.
  9. Most twin turbos cars run sequential turbos - meaning one will spool quicker than the other, and hence the other will give better top end. Its was basically for a bit of a compromise to try and get good power and torque throughout the rev range. Most twin turbz cars just get converted to singles for better top end with a loss in low-mid response being the expected compromise. I would like to do a twin turbo 7k one day with twin CT12's off a 1ggtte, but it would only really be for wank factor. Again you'd probably be better off with one well suited turbo like the TD04-L I used to have.
  10. Yep....... and he rolled it at that motorkhana. Never got it back on the strip. Don't know if the 2530 was a .48 but I know Madrolla's was.
  11. Nah mate, ever heard of ANDRA - Australian National Drag Racing Association...... http://www.andra.com.au/ They're just like CAMS but they govern all drag racing events in Aus. CAMS has nothing to do with drag racing. Similar requiements to CAMS - Long sleeve shirt and trousers as well as closed footware. You obviously need a helmet but you don't have to have a fire extinguisher - The firey's are always very quick on the scene. One other main diff between CAMS and ANDRA is you can get an ANDRA DAY LICENCE, which is $10 compared to the compulsary CAMS S2 12 month licence for $90'ish. Entry fee (public liability insurance etc) is $50-70 depending on event so along with the $10 day licence a trip to the dragway is MUCH cheaper than any circuit track day.
  12. Have you got access to a tow vehicle? Trailer hire is only $50 through SC trailer hire. Then if you did happen to break it at Tarmak you can just trailer it home.
  13. Hour an a half drive to the dragway...... big woop!! Most Sydney siders would take longer than that to get to WSID!!!! I think you should come and then you can see how my car goes and vice versa.
  14. Yep manual 5kte ke10. Still actually running a J-pipe and a HKS2530. 99% sure it was just on premium.... as BPU probably wasn't readily available back then. I'll probably never get Near Darren and Madrollas times just through the weight of my '55 as they both had ke10's.
  15. http://www.rollaclub.com/board/index.php?showtopic=39707
  16. Yeah you might get laughed at a little bit, but you might also be suprise how tolerant people are just because you're out there giving it a go. The diahatsu deffinately wouldn't be the slowest car I ever seen out there. They won't let you race with an oil leak though. Pay for a trailer and I'll let you race Dirt!?
  17. You probably know most of the usual suspects. Myself, Madrolla68's old car, Darren (Untubbed_20) who did the 13.3. Kickn5k also got a pretty stout setup but I don't think he's ever done a 1/4 pass. Same with Loupee - he has a 5k running an S15 BB T28 on like 16psi running on gas. Also have you ever seen this one..... There's also another 7kze setup I've seen in a publica ute IIRC thats somewhere in like Finland or Norway. Never seen how it goes though. One of our members has pilfered a pic of the engine bay as an avatar pic..... http://www.rollaclub.com/board/index.php?showuser=637 If you do a youtube search for 4k turbo or 5k turbo there's also a few more on there you may have never seen before.
  18. You've got a little civic or something as well don't you? Or is it a diahatsu? Oh and for anybody interested in going out, I've started taking a small BBQ out for dinner lately. If anybody wants to chuck in for some BBQ food or just bring a packet of their own snags then feel free.
  19. Would anybody be keen for a meet-up and "mini cruise" to Tarmak on the 1st of May????? I really want to get out for some runs as its the last round for the year. Talking to Daim (with the 20v turbz k'sev) the other day and he's pretty keen to race that day too. Would love to have a few rollas out there racing if anybody else is keen to!?
  20. Holley red capacity won't hurt, as long as you have it regulated properly. You want the carter that has a brass coloured body with a green sticker. The silver body ones are 100gph like a black but at only 6-7psi.
  21. and 2 x no sex still = no sex!!!!
  22. Douche!!! :( ....so nah you DON'T have an in-tank pump. All carby k's just use the mechanical ONLY. I'm personally not a huge fan of either of those pumps. The thing that makes fuel pumps noisey is the way they're mounted. If they're solid mounted to the body them its pretty obvious the vibrations of the pumps will rattle through the car. If they have some sort of rubber mounting then the noise can nearly be eliminated all together. I much prefer quality proven pumps like Holley's and Carter's. For your application a Cart green or Holley red which both put out around 70gph at 7'ish PSI would be fine. The Holley is not "self priming" so it would have to be mounted close to the tank (not in engine bay) below the bottom level of the tank. The Carter however could be mounted in the engine bay but I think it would be better in the boot or under the car. Cartres also have a very good rubber mounting system so they're quite quite, about half as loud as the Holley red in my Mazda. Both of the above mentioned pumps are more like $100-$150 depending on what sort of deal you can get, but both are also a hell of a lot better than both ebay links you posted.
  23. Got your PM. Will reply tomoz.
