  1. Ive heard the same thing as what Felix explained, and thats what i will be doing of i build a motor for my Ae71.
  2. 938kg seems rather heavy for a small car to me. My V6 RT142 had a cast iron motor, Auto, Full trim, Spare wheel, 8 inch diff, 14x6 fronts and 15x8 rears and that was 1180kgs. Fuel light was on and no driver.
  3. Looks really nice mate, Keep it up.
  4. What revs are you doing at 100kph ?
  5. That pipe work is awesome.
  6. Update ?
  7. My cousin has a 22r in a rn110 4x4 and its slow as but good off road, My mates 2wd 22r hilux is a lot quicker. Extractors and a carby upgrade will be a huge improvement over factory.
  8. Are they 14's or 13's and do you have videos ?

  10. Power isn't a big attribute of the 22r but torque is, 72kw and 174nm. Heavier engine but like i said I'm not after the best handling AE71 in the world as it needs to be close to stock height to get in my drive way, and the roads around here are shite. Shipping from the states isn't that much as long as your not getting an entire engine.
  11. Yeah that's what i like about it, I wouldn't need to rev the ring out of it to get power and torque. The most work the 22r would get is 40mm side draught webers, Mid range cam, custom extractors and maybe a rebuild with very slight porting to clean it up a bit. Keep it simple. Oh and get rid of the EGR crap.
  12. Hey Hey, Car in question is an AE71 CSX and is going to be the daily/ weekend fun car not a drifter or street racer. To me the 22R will be better than a 4AG because it has capacity on its side plus better low down torque. America loves these engines and parts are dirt cheap over there and postage isn't much of an issue. The only down side is its not bolt in but i have a welder and mad skillz. I have done a lot of reading on 22Rs and the only thing that turns me off a bit is timing chain issues but if maintenance is kept up it should be fine as in replacing the chain every 80,000km etc. Should be a quick little setup seeing as the ae71 will be 300kg or more down on a Hilux. The 4AG is also a good contender as it makes roughly the same power as a 22r but less torque. Loves to rev and breathes better than the 22r. They have a good following here in Oz but parts are a bit expensive and drive line parts are in the same boat. Bolt in engine and gearbox. Parts are all available locally so not so much of a wait on parts (I'm inpatient). I have had 4AG's before so i have more experience with them over 22r's but its a motor how hard can it be :blinks: Anyway i want your experience to answer not a friend of a friend of a friend how knew a bloke back in the day who thinks they are a shit engine. Ciao Des :blinks:

Oh yeah i forgot to mention it has Castle extractors, 2.5 high flow cat and 2.5 inch mild steel exhaust and a PWR tranny cooler + adjustable electronic shift kit. Ciao.
  15. Hey Hey, This is the daily when i can drive. AU series 2 SR sedan. She is a 4 litre six with an awesomely slow auto. It has power everything bar the seat and is very comfortable to drive, Just did a 1850km round trip to Newcastle and i slept 80% of the way. It's a bit slow off the mark but when the revs pick up it moves along ok for 1500kg. I was trying to sell it but i can't let it go, too nice to drive so it will remain as the daily. It's debadged so no tickford badges or SR stickers Plans: Fix roof lining in black. Rebond the steering wheel grip. Replace a power steering hose. Drop it into the weeds on ultra lows all round Unrealistic plans: Air bag it. Shave all door handles. Run stock 16 steel rims painted silver with white walls. Remove spoiler. Thats it. Ciao.

    Hello

What size are the wheels ? HUGE brakes. Skid videos ?
  17. The springing action of the slave gear is to take up the slack between the gears and keep them in constant mesh. An allen key or a cut down screw driver can be used to hold the gear and spring gear together.
  18. Looks like its really starting to come together mate.
  19. SS chevelle 3rd one down mmmmmm
  20. I'm not saying it's a bad motor or anything like that but I'm just asking.
  21. Looks awesome mate. But why a 253 ?
  22. 7shades old white Ke70 i had for a few months had extractors and a incredibly loud exhaust system. Went well for a 4K. Smoked 1st and chirped 2nd hard with the open center.
  23. Ae71 CSX manual = $150 Twin 40mm side draught webers = $100 i think, Maybe 200.
  24. Sand down the ridges in the middle near the plug leads ?
