happy birthday leigh, hope ya had a good one mate

if its a pre 84 then engine bay length is the main issue.. that means all 6's are out unless theres some fairly hefty body mods done.. i reckon the commode motor or 3sg/2rz motors are the way to go personally. actually a bloke at work is about to undertake a VR3.8 to '83 hilux.. got everything he needed for $500 ;)

ok i have the ultimate corolla engine right here.. http://www.toymods.net/forums/showthread.php?t=27214

does it get driven on the street at all? or just racing? if driven on the street, then definately go 5 speed, if just for racing, then go the 4 speed.. less weight you see ;) also look for the 4.3:1 diff, that will help too. strip the guts out of the car to make it lighter etc.. just out of interest toyota ae71, do you race at the bagshot track by any chance?

although i havent tried it myelf, ive heard reports from a few different people that its hard to get the manifold to seal if you check the tvis block all together. better off pissing off the butterflies and shaft and get the holes welded up. with the carb setup, i think it would be wise to piss off the butterflies aswell. the fuel would pool behind the closed butterflies at low rpms. this amnifold sounds interesting.. got pics?

sorry guys, i forgot about this thread.. i wont be able to make it either.. the auto in me dads ED shit itself this week, so I'm taking me yoot to bendigo for him to drive for the week.. ill probably pass ya's on the way though ;)

hey man don't steal my idea, ive already sourced one to put in me ke25 lol  i agree thats a good conversion from a diamension/weight point of view, but once again, they are bigger than 2.6l, and a good worked one will only make around 220hpish.. how about a YB cosworth, or 3sgte, 1ggte, 7kte?, 4v v8 toyota, one of them sv21 camry v6's, vg20det etc? theres a reason certain conversions are extremely popular, its coz they are one of the best choices in more than one way

theres no way in hell a BA motor would weigh 150kg. and as others have said, the weight is too far forward, the engines too long for the engine bay without firewall mods (and trans tunnel mods for the box you'd need to run) and it will be too high. and youd need sump mods to make it fit too. i dunno why 1gs have been made a joke? they're quite a good engine. can be made to perform very well in turbo form. that would be my choice if it HAD to have 6 cyls. i reckon for a cheap shitter engine you can't go past a 4age turbocharged. even with mild boost (10ish psi) on a bigport/smallport than a BA engine, thats with an Ebay manifold and a highflowed rb20/rb25/sr20 turbo, and appropriate ecu and fuel system mods. you would have a much faster motor, and a better handling car. and it could be made alot more legal than a ba motor.

if it runs a little leaner than premium, wouldnt you have to richen the mixtures a bit :D it may be great, but i still can't justify shells pricing on it. it should be cheaper than the old optimax because essentially all they've done is watered it down with ethanol!

closest ive seen is scotts old XF powered rolla. what are you intending to do with it? it would be a heavy old thing that would pretty much only be good for burnouts, and drags with some work.

What Happens When You Flip 3 Out Of 5 Leaves, On An Rt40rona

that would look pretty spectacular i reckon :P -
i did exactly this with the farm yoot on the weekend. used old stale 2 stroke in it. worked suprisingly well. missed under light load, but ran well n smooth apart from that. as others have said, just go through a few tanks of fuel and she'll be apples. if ya wanna get really pedantic throw some fuel system cleaner through it and replace the fuel filter

i got a toyoglide in my green rolla.. does the job quite nicely. had it up to 90mph with the stock 3k, sits on 70 no worries. its a little slow under 50 but you get that with a 2hp engine :y:

i cruise to mount macedon would be fantastic i reckon. I'm in pending date.

that really had to do alot more of the driver than the car i think. you can't pull without traction, and you don't got traction when your spinning wheels. if you had to blame it on the car you'd blame the dodge for having too much power :n:

don't use an angle grinder to lower coil springs either, the heat generated softens the metal, and they just keep breaking bits off. seen plenty of dunnydores done that way, and ya look in the lower control arms where the springs sit and theres 5-6 lengths of coil that have broken off :y: you can buy new springs for like $100 or so, just do it properly and ya wont regret it. you should get shortened shocks when lowering a car, as if you jack up the car, the spring will unload before the shock runs out of travel, and they can cock sideways, or fall out. also if you lower alot without changing shocks, they can bottom out when going over bumps and stuff your shocks

if you have pressurised high volume water available to you (ie mains pressure through a garden hose) disconnect the heater hoses and run water through one side, then the other.. you'd be suprised how much gunk can come out of there. make sure the heater is on full hot too, so the heater tap is open. if it all blows back and wont go through the other side, you'll have a blockage, or the heater tap isnt opening up properly. check the heater tap, if thats open all the way and not blocked up you'll probably have to take the heater box out and dip the core.

my mate runs a carbed 4ag bigport in a 1.6l hydroplane racing boat with 45mm webers. as redwarf says, 40's will be too small. 45's are the go, but by the time you find a good matching pair, and a manifold to go, you may aswell have gone and bought silvertop quads aqnd a 2nd hand ecu. the webers will support that sort of power not a worry. i can get the specs of his webbers for a baseline for you if your interested. btw he has zero cold start problems, runs clean all the time and rarely needs adjusting. its all in the initial tune, and the quality of webers yoiu've bought.

whats your price range, and what power do you think your girlfriend can handle? in a light car like a ke20, a mildly worked 5k (bolt in) or a stock 4age would have more than enough power to get ya into trouble. a 4agze would have enough torque to overpower the chassis.
