  1. Those seats are covered in the original wool fabric that came out in the KE55 and the door cards and carpet all look to match. My daughter has an 80 KE55 and the interior style is the same but in a pale blue. So unless someone has gone to a big effort and completely swapped the interior it would be a fair assumption it is original to the car. Those shiny chrome strips on the wheel arches are a nice breeding ground for rust so have a close look there for any signs of rust developing or bog. Very neat car. What are your plans with her? Keep us updated.
  2. I am sure there other brands out there it was more the concept of it. All I know is that it saved me having to change the instrument cluster for another 39 year old instrument cluster.
  3. To be honest I only plugged it in as the Princess was about to leave for work. I need to revisit the instructions to check out its functions. It serves its purpose as the speedo is dodge and she is rolling on 15s so the speedo will be inacurate anyway.
  4. I thought I might start this thread so members can post about handy products that they have discovered that might be useful to others. So i would like to kick it off with a little something I bought online. Ever since the Princess has been rollaing the speedo in her KE55 has been dodgy. It starts at 40 and bounces all over the place. I bought a digital heads up display speedo from kogan. I found it late one night cruisin the internet. It was $39 delivered. It just plugs into the cigarette lighter and it works off a satellite gps signal. It sits on the dash and reflects up on the windscreen and it works like a champion. Day or night. I have checked it against my gps and against other speedos and it is pretty accurate. So if u have a dodgy speedo or the wrong rims and tyres this could be tha answer to your speedo woes. Highly recommended. Happy Rollaing
  5. It is the Princess' rolla so there is no enthusiastic throwing into corners on my part and the Princess drives very politely. I will keep an eye on the wear and rotate as necessary as you suggest. The last set of tyres lasted 2 plus years with about 40 thousand Ks to their credit so I can't really complain. Thanks for your help guys as always I end up a bit better informed than I was before I started.
  6. She drives really well considering her age the steering is tight and there appears to be no drift off in any direction when travelling in a straight line. In saying that I rarely get to drive her much, I can't confirm what it was like before the new tyres went on and the alignment was done. So..armed with this info is there anything that needs to be done and what are your recommendations. I'm not too keen on doing bodgey stuff like cutting and welding but happy to use aftermarket bolt in stuff. Or is it a matter of just getting regular rotations and alignments.
  7. Hey Guys thanks for the responses I just got hold of the alignment report and posted it for your perusal. I tried to decipher it and relate it to your comments but alas I am a bit bewildered. So if you can check out the results and give me some advice it would be appreciated.
  8. So I had to take the Princess' hardtop to get new shoes on Saturday. No problem there got the mandatory wheel alignment as you do. I asked the tech how much did he need to adjust the front to get it aligned as the passanger front was well worn on both sides. He said it was a bit out and said it was as good as he could get it bearing in mind there is limited adjustment on the camber on these old cars. My question is is there anything after market i can get to give better adjustment ability and prolong the life of the tyres.
  9. Redline at 11k!! and he had it up there most of the time. Lordy that must be some well put together engine.
  10. Holy Mother of God you were right. clearly magic runs in the family. Impressive x2.
  11. Thats the coolest way to make all the stuff in your shed disappear. Like magic. Impressive.
  12. Phew what an ordeal. I couldn't bare it if anything happened to that sweet ride. Glad you are ok too.😆
  13. Thanks for that Banjo I will have a look at my next opportunity just to satisfy my curiosity.
  14. I was looking on the Princess' tyre for the date stamp. From what you have said Banjo it is a code. It was only on for 18 hours until I got a chance to get the flat tyre replaced. She wasn't happy about the look of the spare so she parked in a corner when she was at work so no one could see it. She is all about the aesthetics. I was just interested to see if it was the original as the car was a 2 owner before we got it and the first owners were an older couple so it was a lower mileage when the second owner bought it. He had grand plans of a transplant but only got as far as pulling the engine and tranny out and she sat for 2 years before the Princess got a hold of her, and the rest is history. That tyre from BMW will probably cost you as much as you paid for the car.
  15. So the Princess had a flat battery today for no apparent reason but couldn't be any flatter if it tried. So jump started her and moved her to a position to get her on the battery charger only to find there is a big arse nail hanging out of a partially flat rear tyre. So out with the jack and wheel brace and off came the wheel. Got the spare out and it looks brand new still got the little manufacturer rubber nipple things on it. So my question is what tyre did the 1980 ke55 come out of the factory wearing. The tyre is an Enduro Grand 2000.
  16. don't go teasing people by saying stuff like that then go taking it back in the next sentence. That is just cruel..
  17. Have you got her programming your ECU already?
  18. Is that how she arrived or how she left?
  19. That is some great economy. Do you think there is any more you can get from her? Thanks for converting it to litres/100.
  20. I was reading those fuel consumption values and thought...meehh...not so good until I realised it was klm per litre. Its a bit early in the day. So I converted it. Freakin awesome for something that has got a stack of poke. Impressive and so pretty.
  21. Firstly what car and what engine do you have? Sounds like the idle jet in the carby is blocked. You can give it a squirt with some carby cleaner but more often than not it will need to be pulled apart and cleaned thoroughly and if you are lucky the gaskets can be reused.
  22. Not a barn find if you have known about her for years but clearly stored some where out of the elements. She is in good condition that interior looks great. Happy daze.
  23. I have installed AC in my daughters ke55 and the evaporator box is a very specific shape and size. It is the same contour as the firewall and there are fixing points that line up with tapped holes under the dash and firewall. If the ke 70 one isn't identical there is going to have to be a bunch of mods to make it fit.
  24. That's what makes me happy excellent news like this.
