  1. I'm in.
  2. A 205/50 is gonna be a bit too big for a 15x6 in my opinion. I have that size tyre on some wheels and its about right on a 7. The rolling diameter is a bit large too. Only a little bit but thats what I reckon. Superlights are awesome wheels though.
  3. My friend, welcome to the tyre shop curse. I used to get alignments done at a 'tyre place', you know, generic Bob Jane etc. That was until I had a pair of brand new 235/45/17s destroyed in less than 9000klms. I gave up on the tyre shops and found a mechanic capable of precise adjustments. He uses a manual machine to align. He is not so big on poorly calibrated lasers. Just find a good mechanic who can do it properly, and stay away from tyre specific shops. At the end of the day they want to sell more tyres (Yes, I'm a cynic). Also, most alignments will arrange varying settings left and right to compensate for the fact you will be driving on a road which isn't perfectly level, but in fact cambered up to 4 degrees left. They attempt to make the car track straight in these situations. I don't like to do this, so I had my mechanic reset everything to perfectly even left to right, because I prefer to feel the road, whatever is going on, and I believe the car will have a better handling balance left to right. You don't hit one particular right hander really hard all the time do you? Try some XT130 corona Lower control arms for a degree and a half of negative camber.
  4. Welcome aboard, you will need an admin to change your nickname. Just pm Teddy, Irokin or Medicine Man for help. Have you considered taking a few piccies and putting your car in the Rides and Projects area?
  5. Nobody wants to go down the road of explaining everything which has ever transpired. Deal with him if you want, its a free country. Best to take in everyone opinions and make up your own mind. GSL supports Rollaclub, so I support GSL. Hes really good to deal with.
  6. HKS cams are good value for money. If you increase lift you will need some shim work and new valve springs to suit. http://www.billzilla.org/4agstock.htm
  7. Thats a tidy as wagon mate. Looks lovely. Still got the old 4ac? I know someone who can use it finally.
  8. Surprise, surprise its in Sydney. Who would have thought.
  9. Hows she going mate? Any progress? Very keen to see this unique beast get on the road!!
  10. Thats a lot of bog, ok, maybe you need a shell. Just keep an eye on ebay or the trading post, you will find one easy as.
  11. Yeah I don't have a set top box so I never see much jtv. I definitely heard you and the other people that were interviewed on hack though!!
  12. To put it into perspective, Ive got a borg warner diff in my ae71 putting down the horses from my 90kw atw 4age. Its still holding up great, despite being thrashed and leaking a bit of oil. With a 5k, you can't really build a drift monster so you wont have many problems, in my opinion. Are you talking about a ke70?
  13. Basically, stiffer is great for less traction, softer gives more traction. On drift you want one, on a track you want the other. The fronts could be left at a 6kg rate for both. A cheap and cheerful way to get the best of both worlds may be to get adjustable shock absorbers, and leave the front well enough alone bar damper adjustment and then just swap the back springs for some stiff ones on drift day and crack the dampers up a bit harder.
  14. Read the faq. There is a search box down the bottom of a forum, use it and get back to us in a few days with some more specific questions. Its all there just gotta look. Have a look in rides and projects and see what people run, and what they do with it. Cheers.
  15. lol. Heard you on the radio without knowing while driving home listening to hack the other day. Very funny. Sounds a bit like me, finished school, did whatever for 3 or 4 years and into a trade at 21, own business at 26 yadda yadda. Where was the rollaclub sticker on the van?
  16. Hey bud. Increase width not rolling diameter. That will give you more traction. Plus, if you increase the diameter of the wheel, you change your final drive ratio. Therefore your car will become slower, but have lower rpm at 100 and a higher top speed. Not necessarily good things in a car with zero torque from the factory. The guys above have the right idea. 14s and 15s are plentiful, you will find most 80s rwd jap cars have the correct stud pattern. Its 4 x 4.5 inches or as we say, 4 x 114.3 if you were wondering. As far as what will fit, thats really determined by a number of factors such as offset of the rim, diameter of the wheel, rolling diameter and how much stretch the tyre has. Its a bit of trial and error. The offsets mentioned above will fit easy. Probably the biggest width you will make fit easy is an 8j, but 7j are plenty and will fit in a wider range of offsets. 6s are fine too, at the end of the day most people seem to stretch the tyre over them so they run the same size tyre on anywhere from an 9j to a 5.5j, just the looks change in that case, not so much traction as its still the same tyre. If the point is to get more traction its hard to get bigger than a 205 on the car in a decent offset.
  17. Me too, but I thought he would need it in this case. Put the badge on the car trev!!
  18. Id say they might have records from the importing of it. Great car.
  19. Congrats dougy!!!
  20. Wow, thats tidy!!!!!!!! Look after her, mate.
  21. You do realise every state has different laws and you need to ask the relevant transport authority?
  22. It should be fine, big torque numbers would probably damage it, but not 200hp. You'd be doing well to get 200hp at the wheels, if that was your goal, my blacktop gets around 120 at the wheels and thats a stock one, so 200 at the fly is well possible and easy enough to get, 200 at the wheels is pretty well unattainable without boost. What a wonderful way to remember your friend.
