My 20v is wired through the toyota box. The relay possies are powered or can be powered by adding a wire, they have all the pins connected to the wiring below, just no wires pushed in to connect them to anything. You can use the relay box to mount relays if you can use a multimeter to id which relay pins come out at which part of the plug, and connect from there. You just need factory style pins and the right crimpers. From memory the relay box on my 20v ke70 loom contains efi, fan, headlight and main relays like it always should.

The idea of 'grandfathering' should mean that anything that was previously approved cannot easily be unapproved. Idea being it was legal at the time, for example, you can't just take every previously sold car off the road when laws are updated. Your harnesses are out of date most likely, but they aren't road legal so he cannot comment on that if you have stock belts installed if they were standard. I think you'll be fine, just don't draw attention to it, and if he says anything then have the proof ready.

So if youre saying you have just thrown away the metal casing and put that on top of the carb, youve just set it up to have hot air induction. You should have just put a new stock filter in, cleaned your pcv and fitted a catch can in the line to let any liquids become caught as the gasses are expelled. There is no performance gain from having an open air filter sucking the air from above a hot engine. You can bin almost all the vacuum lines if you really want, just don't create vacuum leaks as you do it. Most of that is related to emissions and not making the car run better. Just keep your charcoal cannister.

Thats good as RA28 struts have the bigger stub axle, so bigger bearings, longer life and smoother ride with bigger brakes. Pretty much the same as RA40 and the geometry works in earlier corollas so thats fine too. DO it up!

If the pcv is faulty the block can build gas pressure and potentially cause a number of other oil related issues. Pull your pcv and blow through it. They can only breathe one way, from engine to inlet, so that the inlet sucks out spare gases that are a by product of combustion. As you can imagine combustion causes a lot of hot gases to expand, that can be forced through a number of areas into the block. Make sure your pcv works properly, and reinstall it. If the problem persists its something else. Could be you have a tonne of blow by and it pressurises the bottom end and forces the oil out. Mow many ks?

Thanks mate. With no car at home to work on right now, I've taken some time to polish up the engine covers for some extra visual appeal. Since the front engine cover is no longer used to mount the engine, I die ground the ribs away from the mounting boss and smoothed it over. Its all polished out and cleans up the look of the cover. I still have the three holes there if I ever wanted to mount anything there. What you reckon? This was done by first filing and die grinding the casting dags away, hitting it with an orbital sander with 80, then 150 then 320 grit paper, then buffing with with 800, then 1000, then 2000 wet n dry. Then a final rub over with a green sourer pad and then buffed with compound on and 8 inch polishing wheel. Stage 1 wheel coarse rag and mild wax compound, then the fine calico cloth and the fine compound. The front cover took about 6 hours all up, the top I spent about an hour on, I was better at it by then. Considering the minimal equipment needed and that it only costs time, presenting something like this should be mandatory! Its a gutless commercial engine from a van or hilux that uses the w or g5x gearbox.
