More power is always worth it, but the stock ecu will be no good to you, you need to run an aftermarket ecu and use a map sensor to enable dropping of the airbox.

Well you could fairly easily test it as a complete system, just a lot of ʞ©$ɟing around when all that really matters is the bum test.

Fixed the squeak! When someone changed the brake pads they managed to incorrectly locate one of the shims that fits under the long edge of the pad against the piston. It was rubbing on the rotor and seemed to be getting steadily louder, which makes sense as the pads wearing would have made it press harder against the rotor. Long story short, I bent it back to shape and reinstalled it all after a clean and buff and application of some fresh disc brake quiet. Now there is just blissful silence. Checked all the wheel bearings, they seem great. Off to the wreckers now on an unrelated mission, and then ill be fitting the a/c pump and belt and reconnecting that, before maybe heading in next week to have it tested again. I prey it holds pressure so I can cheaply get the ac working this summer.

You engineers and your theoretical blinders. All I'm saying is, consider the bar in the plane of movement that it is to be installed and the direction the forces will come from that you desire to modify (which surely is turning, a desire to transmit the sideways forces of the body rotation to the rear axle ). Without drawing a bunch of pictures and wanking on forever, just consider the totality of the system to consider the change. Its just one singular aspect in the system that the calcs would quantify. Consider the type of bushings used, the lubricant on them, as well as bar size to create a realistic picture of what is happening. You might find the bar is stiffer and puts more stress on the puny bushing setup that holds the ends of the bar and they flex more instead, thus increasing the size of bar required to create the desired change. Thus wasting material, adding undue weight yada yada. Surely you want to talk about the effectiveness of the swaybar setup as installed real world data than to waffle about a single piece of steel in a system that contains about 15 parts, none of which have the same resistance to warping that an 18mm bar will have..

should really be suspended from the mounting points and checked for left to right torsion as thats where the swaybar does its best work for adding oversteer.

Dude has a brain! Cool calcs mate. I can tell you it feels good if you like to slide. Its a much more rigid connection from the rear wheels to the steering wheel.

Bad idea if your not knowledgeable to know how hard it is yourself here and now. If youve never done a conversion before start with something more achievable. If you have serious mechanical knowledge and fabrication skills then you can do almost anything. 1UZ fits in a croalla chassis. Its not an easy one though. Read the threads on here about those who have done it and then you will know more.

How much Seth? Did the egr and smog pump removal. Cleaned up and degreased the bay as much as possible while the motor is in. Will fit the ac pump today probably. Need cold air. Needs springs and shocks, a couple of bushes, a rack bush, a stereo and some tinting. Then it will be pretty perfect.

Ive looked into modified 22res. No way could you even approach the same hp as an sr20 NA. The head is a huge restriction, as is the inlet manifold. Without a massive amount of headwork you can't make more than 120hp on a stock motor even with cams.

I think you're missing something, or I am. Assuming youre using the stock toyota ecu? Correct me if I'm wrong, maybe I'm missing something but the sensor you speak of is just the stock type 02 sensor from the original toyota efi system? If so, then It reads only between 14 and 15.5:1. Thats all its designed to do. Watching it on a gauge that promises a wider range of operation is never going to work. The sensor itself is only used to meter the fuel under very light loads or decel conditions where maximum fuel savings are possible/desired to reduce emissions. The trend you describe, showing lean under load, is completely consistent with the correct operation of a stock o2 sensor, you're expecting that it will do what a $90 wideband probe will do, and that's read a wider range of afrs than 14-15.5:1. Plus with a wideband there is a whole extra circuit to calibrate and help interpret the data that comes from it. A stock ecu will just read the voltage from your 02 sensor and interpret its values from its tables. Its only going to look for its input when your are doing no more than gentle throttle application. The thing will never be able to meter the 12.7-13:1 that the tune will be making happen under hard load, as it cannot read any richer than 14:1. So therefore I'd expect that that is why you have lean under higher loads, it just stops there and cannot read richer. Giving readings as lean or leaner is not really scientific either. The only way to truly test what you are doing here is to install a completely separate wideband and observe that in real time, or to go to a dyno and have it checked out there with a good o2 probe and monitor your gas levels and temps too. Looking at it from another angle, what sort of mileage are you getting from a tank? What makes you sure its rich?
