i know you can get your engine all warmed up, then rev it up while pouring warm water down the carb....this is an old trick taught to me. it does work, i have personally gotten a big piece of carbon stuck in a valve seat, thus i wouldn't recommend it to anyone with piston/valve clearance issues if you do get some thing stuck, just rev the hell outta it...it'll clear

one of the reasons the engine was slanted is cause it was a copy of the dodge slant six...just look at em and compare japanese designers in the early days were very restricted so had to make do with copies the k gearbox was an Opel copy as was the ke1x front suspension. the 8rc and 18rc were copies of the opel 1900 engine the datsun L16, 18,20(and the zcar sixes) were copies of the mercedes engine look at all the early japanese stuff and you will see glaring similarities to previously manufactured stuff (the landcruiser f engine was a copy of a chevy 6 cyl.....) :D

the weber dg series are notorious for this.....if your idle is above 800; it will diesel(run on, etc)

hey, i have a 4ke ecu i can sell......$50 usd + shipping also, i did the swap on my ke18 the hardest part was shaving the right motor mount and moving the engine to the right 1 inch so the fuel rail would clear the master cylinder.....but you guys wont have that problem.....(rhd)

the first one may be, but here when they went to the '73's they switched models. but then; my ke 18 is actually a '70, (nov. 1969) over here we got the ke1x until april 1970 when i order parts for a '70; they always try to sell me '71 stuff. :P

i dunno; i hated driving in the wet with an lsd in my dodge a-100 p/u. i like my "one legger" juswt fine what i don't like though, is the 4.3 gears 4.30 to one = 4,000 rpm@73mph in 5th now a 3.91.........just about perfect

i had the same problem when the weather got down to -10f.....i had to put 50wt engine oil in my k60 just to get it into gear. i am now using synthetic 9w gear oil and it's smooth as glass.....a bit noisy though. but that's a bearing problem i've always had, not a lube issue

how do you guys feel about the mad max series over there? i just watched them again.......

well, the first one would be a te 3x (1974) over here except that '74's had huge ugly bumpers. the second one over here would be an sr-5 corolla about an '81

so would i, though i would get my butt handed to me.........

well, i just got back from a 400 mi trip; at 3,000ft altitude i notice a SLIGHT increase in power. down around 1,500ft altitude it's more like 5hp. i can DEFINETLY feel it. mileage is the same, but it is WAYYYYY louder i am using 2" exhaust. i was thinking about packing some steel wool into the tail pipes...... i am running a stock starlet 4k-e system, so a big cam is OUT. i would like to know how to convert it to a map sensor system......any help?
